Design and Equipment

The Town Car’s exterior design has a formal appearance with a chromed Lincoln signature grille flanked by quad-beam halogen headlamps. High-intensity-discharge headlamps are optional on Signature Limited, Designer and Signature L models.

A stand -up Lincoln star hood ornament sits at the leading edge of the hood on all models.

At the rear of the car, the fascia, taillamps and the chrome license plate surround present a clean, uncluttered appearance. The st and ard extended rear park assist feature helps with parking maneuvers.

This year the entire wheel lineup is new. Signature versions come with a 12-spoke machined aluminum wheel, Signature Limited and Signature L have a 10-spoke machined aluminum wheel and Designer models have an 18-spoke chromed aluminum wheel. Fleet versions use eight-spoke machined aluminum wheels. All Town Car wheels are 17 inches in diameter.

Two extended-wheelbase models continue – the Executive L (fleet only) and Signature L. In addition to their 6-inch stretch in wheelbase, L models offer rear-seat amenities including a folding armrest with tissue and storage bins, as well as dual power points and remote audio, climate and right front passenger seat controls. The Signature L model includes heated rear seats.

Pewter Clearcoat Metallic, Dark Cherry Clearcoat Metallic and two new two-tone combinations join the exterior palette for 2006. Inside, Medium Light Camel replaces the Light Parchment theme.

Powertrain and Chassis

A 239-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 is st and ard on Town Car. The engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Town Car puts power to the ground through its rear wheels via a 3.27:1 final drive ratio. All-speed traction control is st and ard and helps improve traction during inclement weather.

Improved in 2003, the robust chassis is favored by commercial customers for its durability and comfortable ride.

The Lincoln Town Car was the first car in history to receive five-star government safety ratings in all five categories – and has done so three years in a row. Town Car is equipped with Ford’s Personal Safety System™, which is one of the most comprehensive driver and front-seat passenger restraint systems available.
