When Lincoln said that it wanted to make a huge splash at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, they clearly undersold the whole concept of making a splash. The American automaker that made its name in the premium luxury segment has been on the peripherals in recent years, but boy, oh boy, did it pick a good time to spread its wings with the unveiling of the Navigator Concept.
I mean that literally and figuratively because as you can see, it’s got those massive gullwing doors that’s almost out of a Transformers movie. Speaking of size, everything about the Navigator Concept is huge, as if it’s trying to intimidate the rest of the premium SUV segment by flexing its muscles to show that the OG has returned to reclaim the throne it vacated a long time ago.
Like it or not, the Navigator Concept is a showstopper. Don’t count on the production version to be anywhere close to this, but for what it’s worth, Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra did say that the concept provides a “strong hint” on what the production model will look like when it hits the market in 2017. If there’s even an ounce of truth into what Galhotra said, I’m going to be waiting with baited breath to see if the new Navigator has the chops to once again revolutionize the luxury SUV segment.
The early returns from the concept version seems to point in that direction so let’s all hope that Lincoln won’t let us down.

There is no doubt that the 2015 Lincoln Continental Concept looks like nothing else that currently exists in the Lincoln portfolio, and Luc Donckerwolke, the chief designer for Bentley, has his own personal take on where this design originated. According to Car Design News, Donckerwolke posted on Facebook that he feels the new Lincoln concept is a copy of the current Bentley Flying Spur, which is a four-door version of the Bentley Continental.
He used his private Facebook account to reportedly write: “I would have called it Flying Spur concept and kept the four round lights." Comparing the two luxury sedans, the Continental Concept does have a lot of Flying Spur in its design, like the jutting grille, raised rear haunches, C-pillar shape and the sloping trunk line. Donckerwolke took things a step further by posting "Do you want us to send the product tooling?" directly to the Facebook page of Lincoln’s chief designer, David Woodhouse. That message was quickly deleted.
Donckerwolke didn’t back down from his Facebook post by telling Car Design News: "This behavior is not respectable. Building a copy like this is giving a bad name to the car design world."
And Bentley’s exterior design chief, Sangyup Lee, added fuel to the fire by saying: "It is very disappointing especially for an exclusive brand like Lincoln." These are some strong words in an automotive community that tends to be very diplomatic with such public comments.
In our initial post of the concept, we also wrote that there is a resemblance to the Kia K900, and looking at a rear view of the Continental reveals taillights that are almost identical to those found on the Mercedes S-Class Coupe. For Lincoln’s part, it says that this concept shows a “strong indication” of a production sedan that will debut next year, so it isn’t clear how much of this design will carry over.

The iconic Lincoln Continental made a surprising comeback in 2015, 13 years after Ford’s premium brand unleashed the 2002 concept car that never made it into production. Introduced at the 2015 New York Auto Show, the new Continental is also a concept car, but, unlike its predecessor, it is scheduled to go into production over the next couple of years. It seems that Lincoln is finally ready to make a comeback as a full-fledged luxury rival for Cadillac, also set to unleash the all-new, full-size CT6 sedan.
The Continental was first introduced in 1940 as a two-door coupe, but the nameplate was discontinued in 1948. Revived in late 1955 as a separate marque, the second-gen car continued as a two-door coupe, but its expensive price tag and unprecedented luxury for a Ford product made it a rival for Rolls-Royce. FoMoCo redesigned it for 1958, when the Conti also received a four-door version. Extensive updates followed in 1961 and 1970, before the name was dropped for the second time in 1979. Revived yet again in 1982, the Continental survived for another two decades, but it never managed to become more than a rebadged and slightly fancier Ford Taurus.
Will the Blue Oval return the Continental to its former glory with the 10th-generation model? We won’t find out for sure until the production model arrives, but, until then, we have a gorgeous concept car to talk about.

With about a week until the 2015 New York Auto Show opens its gates, a surprise Lincoln Continental concept car may be slated to make an appearance, even though nothing official has been confirmed as of yet. Details are scarce at the moment, but some of the folks from the Blue Oval forums got around an odd minisite – which has been taken down since – that offered some details about the model.
"This is the new elegantly styled and boldly distinctive Lincoln Continental Concept. It represents who we are as a carmaker. It’s a culmination of learning, engineering, and envisioning what’s to come. In conceiving it, we left nothing unturned. No question went unanswered. No answer went unchallenged. In designing it, we unearthed the simple truth that elegant design can elicit highly emotive connections. The Lincoln Continental Concept is everything we know about cars, and everything we understand about people. And when you bring the two together, you understand why they should never really be apart." — was the revealing text accompanying the minisite, which should be noted that is part of Team Detroit’s website. Team Detroit is an advertising agency that is a frequent collaborator of both Ford and Lincoln, so the leak is obviously official.
That block of text is not much to go by, but it does reveal that the upcoming Lincoln concept car won’t be named MKS, like almost everyone was expecting, and it could also feature a more upscale design language. Whatever it is, we shall find out in the upcoming days, so stay close!

It may seem unlikely given Lincoln’s current lineup, but there was a time when the company used to offer rear-wheel-drive, luxury coupes too. The last model to sport a two-door configuration was the Mark VIII. Introduced in 1992 and built on the same FN platform underpinning the tenth-generation Ford Thunderbird and the seventh-gen Mercury Cougar, the Lincoln Mark VIII got axed in June 1998. Granted, the disappearance of the Mark VIII left a big gap in the Lincoln range.
That’s likely to change in near future. But for that to happen, a couple of conditions must be met. First, Lincoln has to green light the use of the 2015 Mustang platform for a future product. Second, the production car to sit on that rear-wheel-drive architecture must come in a coupe configuration and not in the shape of a redesigned MKS sedan. It’s tricky and a bit far-fetched, but one can only hope that the MK Coupe Concept depicted above, courtesy of our friends at BoldRide, becomes more than just an intriguing idea.

Lincoln Motor Company has just announced its launch a full product lineup in China, including five new vehicles. One of those – a midsize luxury SUV – accompanies the news in this teaser video above. Though Lincoln hasn’t given away much info on the new vehicle, the video does reveal some interesting aspects.
From the few glimpses visible, the SUV appears to be a highly sculpted crossover with plenty of LED trickery and accent lighting. Most eye-catching are the massive turn signals that surround the headlight fixtures and continue to the side mirrors. A strong belt line runs just under the windows with a large rear haunch laying above the rear tire. If things stay true to the artist’s drawings seen here, the front will feature some fairly stunning sculpted lines with plenty of drama.
This SUV will join a lineup of four other cars including the MKZ, the MKC, a new full-size luxury sedan, and the refreshed Navigator – all of which will be built inside the United States. What’s more, Lincoln is taking an entirely new approach to selling cars, one based relationships and an inviting dealer environment.
Lincoln’s goal is a network of 60 dealers in 50 cities across China by 2016, with the first eight opening this fall. The dealers will run under the ideology of “The Lincoln Way,” a much more personal, relationship-biased approach to selling cars. “It completely shifts luxury automotive ownership from a sales and service transaction model to an experience model,” says Jim Farley, Ford’s executive vice president of global marketing.
The dealers will feature a more home-like atmosphere with a tea room and other amenities like the Personalization Studio where customers can customize and order their particular vehicle. The new dealership style will concentrate its focus on providing good relationships and quality treatment than having a large, uninviting room packed with products. It’ll be interesting to see how this business model works for China and if it could work within the U.S.

The question of where to take Lincoln’s styling was top-of-mind for Ford during the mid 1950s, and the net it cast was to both the internal styling teams and one special dream car creator of Italy.
Turbulent times for all the Blue Oval brands followed the market flop of their Edsel series, and Chevrolet was lighting up newsprint and auto shows with their swanky Motorama events and the original Corvetteconcept of 1953.
The desire for miraculous styling direction and stunning concept cars led to all the non-GM American car brands to pair off with Italian styling houses. During this flurry of deals, Ghia signed up with Chrysler, Bertone for Packard and Carrozerria Touring with Hudson.
Lincoln went with a less-renowned name of Felice Paolo to dress a rolling chassis with bespoke coupe bodywork ahead of the Turin motor show. The orange lacquer paint was barely dry on the 1955 Lincoln Indianapolis Exclusive Study by Carrozzeria Boano Torino when it was rolled onto the rotating platform of the Turin auto show.
This stunning concept car is headed for the glitz and flash bulbs again this November with RM Auctions, where the car’s previous million-dollar pricing is expected to climb in value yet again.

With Lincoln’s MKZ Black Label trim getting a lot of the publicity leading up to their public debuts at Pebble Beach, it’s important to remember that another one of the company’s models is getting the Black Label treatment.
In addition to the three MKZs that were given Black Label executions, the MKC also received some luxury interior lovin’, highlighting the lengths Lincoln will go to provide its resident SUV an expressive form of luxury that can set it apart from the rest of the competition.
It’s not surprising that Lincoln would go this route. After all, it’s been widely established that the brand has a certain taste for luxury that is only emboldened and emphasized by the unveiling of the Black Label trim for the MKC.
But the best part of this announcement is the equally important news that the Black Label interior trim won’t be limited to just being showpiece exhibits at Pebble Beach. Lincoln has every intention to release them out to the market, possibly as early as late next year.
That news, on its own, is enough for us to give these interior upgrades, including the one on the MKC Black Label some serious air time.

The Lincoln MKC is a compact crossover that was launched at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto show and went on sale in June of 2014. Considering Lincoln is essentially Ford’s premium brand, it should be no surprise that the MKC shares a platform with the Ford Escape and features styling cues that were derived from the second-gen Lincoln MKZ sedan. On the outside, it has powerful body lines that give it a sporty and elegant look, full-width taillights, signature split-wing grille, and a fixed panoramic roof that runs the entire length of the vehicle. Inside, you’ll find comfortable leather, a simple center stack, architectural center console, and lots of chrome trim outlining elements of the dash, door panels, and seats. At the time of its debut, the MKC offered a 2.0-liter, Ecoboost, Four-cylinder with 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque as standard equipment, with a 2.3-liter with 285 horsepower and 205 pound-feet available as an option.
As Lincoln’s newest entry-level crossover, the MKC is a pretty strong proposition to compete against models like the Buick Encore and the BMW X1. It’s sleek, stylish and it had the latest Lincoln design language at the time. Despite being nothing more than a Ford Escape with a different face, the MKC performed relatively well for what it is, selling 13,077 models between the time it launched and the end of 2014. In the middle of all the presentations of the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show was the unveiling of the 2013 MKT and the 2013 MKS, but Lincoln had another ace in the hole. Apparently, Ford’s luxury brand also revealed a teaser image of a car that looks like the next MKZ. It is believed that we will see the new MKZ in January 2012 at the Detroit Auto Show.
Fast forward to today and the Lincoln MKZ Concept has finally been unveiled in all its glory.
The Lincoln MKZ Concept is a take on the company’s design language that will be featured in a number of their future models. Taken as a concept, the MKZ comes with a variety of new features that will look sweet when translated to a production version. The automaker has penciled a production date for later this year so we won’t have to wait long to see what the production MKZ is made of.

The Lincoln Sentinel concept car was unveiled back in 1996 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The concept car inspired by classic vehicles like the the 1961 Continental and the Facel Vega Excellence of the late 1950s. Now this one time can be yours, all you have to do is place a bid at the online auction house eBay, the concept is starting at $48,500.
The futuristic concept was previously available for auction back in April, the O.C. Welch Ford Lincoln-Mercury dealership in Hardeeville, South Carolina attempted to move the Sentinel for around $80,000.
This would be the perfect machine for recreating classic films that were set sometime after today, like back to the future or the Road Warrior. Either way, paying less than $50,000 for an automaker’s one time auto show centerpiece is not a bad deal, car companies will spend upwards of $500,000 to create these one of a kind show stopping concepts who primary objective is to create a buzz in the auto market and give the designers some feedback about how consumers feel about the direction of an automaker’s design language.
Looks like Lincoln sees its future in the crossover segment. After showing the production version of the 2010 MKT at the Detroit Auto Show, it showed off the little C concept.
This is a departure for Lincoln who’s line up has traditionally been larger cars. The crossover takes Lincoln’s hallmark styling cues such as the rounded nose with waterfall grille. In fact, this is almost like an MKT that got its rear end chopped off. The whole design of the car is rumored to fit over the European Focus’ global C1 platform.
Under the hood Lincoln placed the new 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 180 hp and 180 ft.-lbs. of torque. Fuel economy is rated at 43 mpg on the highway.
The name of this car may not be very clever, but it could be very telltale. The concept is named after C-sized car segment which is refers to compact cars. This designation is used more as an industry inside term in the U.S., and is more known in Europe. Could this car (that rides on a global platform) be a vehicle Ford is looking at more for Europe than the home market?

next month in Detroit , Ford will present a rear-drive Lincoln concept car. It will be based on the same rear-drive chassis and engineering architecture it is planning for a future design of Ford Australia’s popular Falcon model.
The rear-drive concept will include several design cues that design chief Peter Horbury wants to incorporate into a future flagship Lincoln, whether he wins the rear-drive battle or not.
