2020 Lincoln Corsair
The 2020 Lincoln Corsair is a compact crossover and the company’s smallest SUV yet. The Corsair replaces the MKC, a crossover sold between 2014 and 2019 and also based on the Ford Escape. Unveiled at the 2019 New York Auto Show, the Corsair revived a nameplate that Ford used for the first time in 1958 for the Edsel brand. The Corsair is the third new nameplate introduced by Lincoln in the last two years following a decision to phase out its alphanumerical naming scheme.
Just like the MKC, the Corsair is based on the Ford Escape. But while the MKC was built on the old platform, the Corsair shares underpinnings with the fourth-generation, 2020 Ford Escape, also unveiled at the 2019 New York Auto Show. The redesign brings new technology and features as well as revised four-cylinder engines and eight-speed automatic transmission.
2018 Lincoln Navigator
The days of a worn-out, aging Navigator are gone. Lincoln has finally given its full-size luxury SUV a proper makeover, complete with a high-horsepower EcoBoost V-6, an upscale appearance and perhaps the classiest interior ever seen in the American SUV segment. Of course, the new Navigator is based on Ford’s all-new Expedition. Both share a new high-strength steel frame, aluminum construction for the body, and Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission. Cadillac has held the luxury SUV torch for years with its well-regarded Escalade, but Lincoln could soon be taking the lead.
“Quiet luxury is both a look and a feeling. The all-new Navigator embodies both.” That’s what Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra said about the Navigator when it debuted at the 2017 New York Auto Show. He continued, saying, “The sleek styling, spacious interior, and technology are all designed to make each trip effortless.”
Lincoln has worked tirelessly to build back its reputation of class, elegance, and that old-school charm. Take those Matthew McConaughey commercials, for example. He’s wearing a suit – tie gone, collar undone – hand sprawled over the steering wheel after a long day at some white-collar position in a successful career built over time. It’s smooth jazz music playing softly with rain falling on an empty city street; it’s a mellow yet engaging game of poker and coming away with the winning hand. “The feeling stays with you,” the commercial says. It’s this modern, minimalistic yet richly decorated idea of luxury Lincoln is attempting to tie to its brand image. Regardless of the advertisements, if Lincoln keeps building vehicles like the Navigator, the idea should stick.

2016 Lincoln Navigator Concept
When Lincoln said that it wanted to make a huge splash at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, they clearly undersold the whole concept of making a splash. The American automaker that made its name in the premium luxury segment has been on the peripherals in recent years, but boy, oh boy, did it pick a good time to spread its wings with the unveiling of the Navigator Concept.
I mean that literally and figuratively because as you can see, it’s got those massive gullwing doors that’s almost out of a Transformers movie. Speaking of size, everything about the Navigator Concept is huge, as if it’s trying to intimidate the rest of the premium SUV segment by flexing its muscles to show that the OG has returned to reclaim the throne it vacated a long time ago.
Like it or not, the Navigator Concept is a showstopper. Don’t count on the production version to be anywhere close to this, but for what it’s worth, Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra did say that the concept provides a “strong hint” on what the production model will look like when it hits the market in 2017. If there’s even an ounce of truth into what Galhotra said, I’m going to be waiting with baited breath to see if the new Navigator has the chops to once again revolutionize the luxury SUV segment.
The early returns from the concept version seems to point in that direction so let’s all hope that Lincoln won’t let us down.

The iconic Lincoln Continental made a surprising comeback in 2015, 13 years after Ford’s premium brand unleashed the 2002 concept car that never made it into production. Introduced at the 2015 New York Auto Show, the new Continental is also a concept car, but, unlike its predecessor, it is scheduled to go into production over the next couple of years. It seems that Lincoln is finally ready to make a comeback as a full-fledged luxury rival for Cadillac, also set to unleash the all-new, full-size CT6 sedan.
The Continental was first introduced in 1940 as a two-door coupe, but the nameplate was discontinued in 1948. Revived in late 1955 as a separate marque, the second-gen car continued as a two-door coupe, but its expensive price tag and unprecedented luxury for a Ford product made it a rival for Rolls-Royce. FoMoCo redesigned it for 1958, when the Conti also received a four-door version. Extensive updates followed in 1961 and 1970, before the name was dropped for the second time in 1979. Revived yet again in 1982, the Continental survived for another two decades, but it never managed to become more than a rebadged and slightly fancier Ford Taurus.
Will the Blue Oval return the Continental to its former glory with the 10th-generation model? We won’t find out for sure until the production model arrives, but, until then, we have a gorgeous concept car to talk about.

For the past several decades, Ford has pranced the Lincoln brand around guised as a “luxury car,” but when compared to its competition – BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Infiniti – Lincolns just never held up. The lowest of lows came in the early-2000s with the release of the failed and wholly unpopular LS.
With the launching of the MK series of cars and SUVs, Lincoln began pressing the competition, but still fell slightly short of its goal in overtaking them. To help get Lincoln over this hump, Lincoln announced that the MKZ, the automaker’s entry-level sedan, will be completely overhauled for 2013 in hopes to better compete with the aforementioned competition.
We have all been anxiously awaiting the release of Lincoln’s plans to keep its lineup fresh, as it has been on the downward slide in recent years. We saw the concept MKZ and found out that the official design will, in fact, be a near replica of the concept – thank you Lincoln – but we had yet to hear anything about the official production specifications or the 2013 MKZ, at least until now. Ford Motor Company finally released these specs, just over 24 hours before its unveiling at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
Will this update be enough to launch the Lincoln lineup back to its days of dominating the Luxury car front, or will Lincoln have the same fate as GM’s Saturn and Oldsmobile brands, which also received a last minute redesign campaigns to try to save them? UPDATE 07/24/2012: Lincoln has released a new configurator, which you can find here, that allows you to select two trim levels from the five available – these include: Premier, Select, Reserve, Preferred with Single Panel Roof and Preferred with Retractable Panoramic Roof – and compare the two. Of course, shortly after releasing the online configurator, Lincoln also released the official pricing information for the MKZ. Lincoln unveiled today at the New York Auto Show, the 2011 MKZ Hybrid. This is the company’s first ever hybrid vehicle, but a logical step if you consider both the Ford Fusion and the Mercury Milan are also available with hybrid drivetrains.
The 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid uses Ford’s second-generation hybrid technology – the 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle I-4 hybrid engine, a system that combines gasoline engine and electric battery-driven motors and delivers a total of 191 hp. In pure electric mode, the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid can drive with a top speed of up to 47 mph. Compared to its main competitor, the 2010 Lexus HS 250h, the Lincoln hybrid tops their fuel efficiency by 6mpg with 41mpg in the city.
Also, a trump card that can be played against the 2010 Lexus HS 250h is Lincoln’s extra space allowing for one more passenger, segment-exclusive safety features, and more standard luxury. The Lincoln luxury hybrid sedan will be offered with: SmartGauge with EcoGuide, Lincoln SYNC, 10-Way Power Passenger Seat, Genuine Wood Trim, Reverse Sensing System, Keyless Entry Keypad, Personal Safety System, Acoustic Laminated Windshield and standard Bridge of Weir leather seats. These items will either not be offered with the Lexus or will come with an additional price tag.
Updated 07/22/2010: Lincoln today announced prices for the 2011 MKZ Hybrid that will go on sale this fall. Prices will start at $35,180, a price identical to the 2011 Lincoln MKZ gas model and below the 2010 Lexus HS 250h, the MKZ Hybrid’s nearest competitor.
