Someone Has Put More Than 1.3 Million Miles on a Lincoln Town Car
Most modern cars are considered obsolete by the time they hit 200,000 miles on the odometer. Some say that this is because cars aren’t as reliable as they used to be. It’s difficult to argue if this is 100-percent true or not, but the truth is we’ve heard of plenty of old cars that have been driven more than one million miles. One such example is this 1983 Lincoln Town Car, which showed 1.3 million miles on its odo when this footage was filmed several years ago.

The 2019 Lincoln Navigator is quick, but the Hennessey Lincoln Navigator is a speed demon. John Hennessey did the deed and gifted the massive SUV with 150 horsepower over the stock version, rounding up all the horses of the Lincoln Navigator engine to 600. That’s insane. Yet, before I tell you to press play on that video down below, I have to set my heart to rest.
It’s getting harder and harder to like massive SUVs. Seven-seaters are just too ungainly even for my SUV-loving mind. While the Navigator is quite amazing in terms of tech and luxury, just look at it. It is like an oversized van. Just like any other massive seven-seater SUV. Hennessy did an amazing job and released the Navigator from that family-centricity. I mean, when you think about 600 horsepower, you definitely aren’t thinking “I have to get the groceries and pick up kids from school.” But you do think, “I am almighty.”
Lincoln Partners with Serena Williams in 2018 Navigator’s New Ad Campaign
Lincoln is partnering with tennis ledged Serena Williams in its newest ad campaign that kicked off February 15. Williams will act as a brand ambassador on social media as she drives her 2018 Navigator to tournaments and while chauffeuring her family around town.
But this isn’t her first time in a Navigator. In fact, her first car was a first-generation Lincoln Navigator she purchased during her successful early years and named it “Ginger.” The SUV lasted her eight years’ worth of tennis practices and matches before she gifted it to her niece. “I’ve always had a connection to the Navigator,” she said. “When the opportunity came to work with the Lincoln Navigator today, I was really excited because it brought me back to all of those moments I had in my first vehicle. For me, partnering with a brand like Navigator comes from a genuine place.”

2018 Lincoln Navigator Ad Has a Silent Matthew McConaughey and a Hidden Message
So, with all of the past Lincoln\McConaughey commercials and all of the weirdness that ensues, it’s pretty easy to feel disappointed here. McConaughey is silent and does nothing more than drum on the steering wheel of his new Navigator as he waits for a train to pass. Once the train passes, he presses the button for “D” or drive, casts his typical smile, and drives off; not a word said. Now, everyone seems to be ragging on Lincoln and McConaughey for such a boring commercial. But, what everyone has seemed to miss is that the cabin of that Navigator is so quiet that you can hear McConaughey drumming on his steering wheel.
There’s nothing more to it really, and nothing less – either. Just a guy enjoying his day, drumming on his steering while as he waits for a train to pass. The point is that the cabin is quiet, so check out the advertisement for yourself and let us know what you think!
2016 Lincoln MKC – Driven
Lincoln continues to fight its way back from the dead as Ford continues pouring money into its luxury brand. Its relatively new vehicle lineup is certainly helping thanks to an increased appeal to a wider, more discerning audience. One of Lincoln’s front-runners is the MKC crossover – a high-class version of the Ford Escape fitted with its own styling and unique interior. The Ford elements shine through where it counts, like the surprisingly robust 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine.
I recently spent a week with a 2016 Lincoln MKC Reserve, the next most expensive trim grade below the swanky Black Label trim. Its long list of standard equipment and well-appointed interior solidifies Lincoln has some great ingredients in this crossover cake. A quick scan of the Monroney sticker confirms that. Items like HID headlights and LED taillights, dual exhaust tips, 20-inch wheels give the MKC a class appearance while plushy leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, the SNYC3 infotainment system, and metallic trim make the interior a welcoming place to ride.
Then there’s the optional 2.3-liter EcoBoost. Minus a few changes, this EcoBoost can also be found in the Ford Mustang. The turbocharged engine produces a respectable 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque in Lincoln spec, and sends power to all four wheels. Strong power and all-weather traction are trademarks of the luxury car market, but how well does the 2016 Lincoln MKC perform as a whole? Keep reading to find out.

Not much goes together quite like Texas and trucks. It’s the U.S.’ largest truck market by a long shot and it’s plain to see as you peruse any given parking lot. Texans love their trucks. That’s why the Texas Auto Writers Association crowns a Truck of Texas winner every year after an extensive evaluation process.
As a member of TAWA, I spent the better part of a week in the dusty hills outside San Antonio testing 75 contenders vying for the prized top spot. Eighteen automakers from around the world were in attendance, the majority bringing more than a handful of vehicles.
Ground zero for testing was the famed Knibbe Ranch, with hundreds of acres of sprawling across the Lonestar state. Muddy creek crossings and rocky hill climbs, combined with twisty country roads and newly paved highways provided the test beds. Those trucks, SUVs and crossovers brave enough to tackle the off-road section were subjected to rock-strewn dirt roads that punished suspension parts and underbody skidplates. More road-biased crossovers were thrown around narrow roads and up steep hills. The new pavement along the Texas highway was still covered in loose asphalt with orange caution cones proving a tempting (yet highly illegal) slalom course. Thankfully no one attempted that obstacle.
The 60 journalists judging the event had a huge decision to make. What truck, SUV or crossover would be crowned the Truck of Texas? Well, you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out. We’ll announce the top winner and the winners of sub-categories on Wednesday.

With apologies to all weird Super Bowl commercials in the past, Lincoln’s new ad for the big game may have put all else to shame.
First of all, the ad was done in collaboration with Jimmy Fallon, who doesn’t appear on the commercial. From what we’ve been told, people sent tweets to Fallon, who, in turn, wrote a script based on the tweets by the fans. Not exactly the easiest thing to do, even for a world-class comedian like Fallon.
So with the script in hand, Lincoln prepared an MKZ commercial that borders on weird. To be honest, we don’t know what to make of it other than the cameos of some celebrities, including Wil Wheaton, hip hop artist Rev Run, and even retired-NFL-star Emmitt Smith.
Other than that, the whole thing is just a convoluted mash-up that doesn’t do the MKZ any justice. It feels a little too far into twitter world than we would have want to see the new self proclaimed super luxury brand from the Ford group. Let’s hope this isn’t the ad that the "Phoenix" teaser spot was alluding to.
Give credit to the folks from Lincoln, or at least the higher ups over at Ford, for deciding it’s a worthy investment to place an ad for the Super Bowl. Only a handful of automakers that are expected to show commercials during the big game and Lincoln has decided that a little teaser was in order for their new luxury sedan, the 2013 MKZ.
The teaser ad isn’t all that long, but in the 17 seconds that it runs, it definitely shows a lot of what Lincoln has had to go through to be in the position that they’re in now. The “phoenix” reference definitely alludes to a rebirth for the American automaker – something that has been long overdue.
We’re definitely excited to see what the whole ad is going to show, as the teaser looks pretty sweet as is. Hopefully, Lincoln releases it even before the Super Bowl.
Every man who has ever seen Mad Men will attest that it’s one of the best shows on TV today. Lincoln seems to think so too because why else would they tap John Slattery – aka Roger Sterling – to be the man to promote their brand’s refreshed line-up.
Automakers seem to have had a deep-lying affinity for the show with Mercedes-Benz recently signing John Hamm – he’s Don Draper in the show, by the way – to be their new voice over for their commercials.
The Lincoln commercial for the 2011 MKX promotes the car’s unparalleled attention to its technology, with Slattery even saying that “no other anything in the world has it.”
And with the campaign’s tag line of “Smarter than Luxury”, it fits right in with Slattery’s character in Mad Men, Roger Sterling. Really, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more ideal pitchman for Lincoln than John Slattery, a man the company says fits in to their brand for his "authentic, real-world appeal."
Now, care to venture a guess as to what auto brand will try to get Robert Morse to work with them?

Not a lot of people would think that you can do anything with a Lincoln MKS apart from a few tuning modifications. After all, it’s a pretty powerful car by itself. Then again, Hennessey Performance isn’t a lot of people.
The renowned car tuning house took a stab at modifying a Lincoln MKS, which, with its new EcoBoost V6 engine, already packs 355 horsepower and 350 lbs/feet of torque. Hennessey Performance boosted that up even further by adding its own MaxBoost 435 upgrade kit, upping the MKS’ total output by 80 hp and 55 lb/ft of torque to 435 horsepower and 405 lb/ft of torque, respectively.
The result is a Lincoln MKS that that punches a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 13 seconds at speeds in excess of 106 mph.
In addition to the engine upgrade, Hennessey Performance’s MaxBoost 435 pack also comes with a polished intercooler piping upgrade, engine management software upgrade, a dual cold air induction system, a stainless steel cat-back exhaust, and a one year/12,000-mile warranty.
All in all, it’s a pretty impressive package from a tuning house that has made quite a living turning seemingly ordinary – yet innately powerful – cars into full-fledged beasts on wheels.

Back on August 24th Motortrend and Automobile magazine got together for a one of a kind test to put the new Ecoboost powered Lincoln MKS to the test against some of the world’s most luxurious perfromance machines. The field included a Mercedes Benz E550, Maserati Quattroporte, BMW 550i and a Jaguar XF Premium 5.0 Liter V8; all competing against the new twin turbocharged V6 Lincoln MKS sedan, in a classic 6 versus 8 competition.
Leaving all bench racing aside and concentrating on the the cold hard facts, each vehicle was raced up Loveland Pass, a treacherous, winding road with thousand foot drop offs and torturous hairpin turns in the heart of the Rocky Mountains located in Colorado. The man who was lucky enough to be selected to pilot these performance automobiles was none other than the multiple time hill climb champion Rod Millen, his ability to squeeze the most out of every vehicle combined with his ability to make use of every last inch of pavement made the New Zeland native the perfect candidate for the contest. Although the Lincoln MKS seceded to the BMW 550, it did manage to come in a close second and at the end of the day walked away with the highest top speed of any of the European machines.
