2018 Lexus LX 570
First hitting the market in January of 1996, the Lexus LX nameplate has evolved through three separate generations over the years, with the latest J200 iteration arriving in 2007. Based heavily on the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Lexus LX is the premium Japanese brand’s take on full-size luxury SUV transport, comfortably seating up to eight passengers and offering a good deal of capability if road conditions are less than ideal. However, according to Lexus, “some customers indicated they did not use the third row and expressed a preference for more interior cargo space,” and as a result, the 2018 model year gets a bit of switch-up in the cabin. Introduced as the LX 570 at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the third-row bench was tossed to accommodate more junk in the trunk, all while keeping the same capability and comfort found in the LX’s eight-seater counterparts.
Lexus says the LX 570 is aimed at “smaller families, empty nesters and multiple-vehicle households, [customers who] are more likely to travel with fewer passengers but more carry-on gear. Among the activities they enjoy are skiing, cycling, kayaking, and golf, along with such hobbies as nature photography and antique collecting. Some also wanted more versatility for carrying their dogs.” So – does the LX really work better with fewer seats and more cargo?

2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS
The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS is the range-topping version of the third-generation SUV, launched in 2019 for the 2020 model year. It’s the second Maybach SUV ever built after the 2018 G650 Landaulet, but the first one that’s not a limited-edition vehicle. Inspired by the Maybach S-Class,, the 2021 Maybach GLS is a fancied up GLS with extra luxury features, exclusive appointments, and a unique drivetrain. Performance-wise, it slots between the GLS 580 and the AMG GLS 63 S., And just like the rest of the lineup, its gasoline engine works in conjunction with a 48-volt EQ Boost system. We know that you’ve probably seen the Corsair before – it was released earlier this year, but new for 2020 is the Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring. This Corsair itself is aimed at the younger crowd that don’t need three rows of seating and desire a little more space and now the Grand Touring trim steps in to provide even better fuel economy for those that are more green conscious.
It might not be quite as powerful as the non-hybrid, but the 2.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors are said to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 266 horsepower and Lincoln is “anticipating” a range of 25 miles. AWD also comes courtesy of the electric motors as they exclusively power the rear wheels while the engine handles the duty of driving the front wheels.
In terms of appearance, the Corsair Grand Touring doesn’t stand out my way of any real unique aestetic features, so aside from the exterior badges and the ability to drive silently for a limited period of time, there’s not much else to report. If you didn’t realize that there was a gap between the Kia Soul and the Kia Sportage, well, don’t feel bad because we didn’t either. But, it’s all good, because Kia has managed to fill that gap with a model known as the Seltos. It celebrated its U.S. launch at the 2019 Los Angels Auto Show after being introduced a couple of months before that in India. Naturally, there are some minor changes to make it meet U.S. regulations, but for the most part, we’re looking at a compact SUV with some Telluride-inspired design cues and enough ground clearance that you could actually take it off the beaten path if you really wanted to.
The real highlight of the Seltos is its cargo capacity. In relation to its size, the capacity is rather respectable at 26.6 cubic-feet with the rear seats in place and 62.8 cubic-feet with the rear seats folded down. It also comes with a decent list of technology, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that looks like it came out of yesteryear’s BMW parts bin, and there’s even an 8-speaker Bose audio system. The latter is actually a first for a Kia, so it has that going for it.
The Seltos is available with your choice of two different engines. The base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. The smaller, but turbocharged 1.6-liter mill delivers 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It’s nothing to write home about, but it’s also a small model, so it should be adequate. Kia is promising an impressive starting point of “below $22,000,” so expect it to start out around $21,990 and climb closer to the $30,000 range in top trim.
2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S picture gallery
It was only a matter of time before Mercedes’ AMG division had its way with the Mercedes GLE SUV, and that day has come. Unveiled at the 2019 Los Angles Auto Show, the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S comes complete with a Panamerican-style grille, massive corner intakes, and the typical AMG exhaust outlets and diffuser. The interior is as luxurious as it gets in this segment and comes complete with plenty of AMG-specific styling cues like the infotainment system graphics, interior badges, and race-inspired, flat-bottom steering wheel.
Under the hood lurks the same 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 found in the larger Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, and it even delivers the same 602 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. It also has that EQ Boost starter-generator that pumps out 21 extra horses and 184 extra pound-feet of torque. The 4Matic AWD system can distribute torque between the axles as needed, so much so that it can even send 100-percent of the engine’s power to the rear wheels.
The good news here, however, is that the GLE 63 is smaller, so it’s actually quicker in the 60-mph sprint than its bigger brother. While the GLS 63 S does the sprint in 4.1 seconds, the GLE 63 S will get you to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds – supercar speeds not that long ago. Genesis has put the G90 luxury sedan through a rather extensive mid-cycle facelift that borders on the equivalence of what we’d expect from a new generation and has put facelifts from competitors like Infiniti, Audi, Lexus, and BMW to shame. Part of this mid-cycle update includes a complete exterior rework (save for the roof and doors) and a bunch of updated technology and materials that push the G90 even deeper into the luxury segment. Much like it did with the Model X and Model 3, Tesla didn’t unveil a lot of details during the launch event, so the 2021 Cybertruck still hides mysteries. 2019 Karma SC2 Concept
Karma is entertaining us with quite the stand at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which is also home for the SC2 Concept. The Karma SC2 previews the startup’s future design direction - those are Karma’s words, by the way - which means we’re not necessarily going to see a road-going car inspired by the prototype. Instead, this is Karma showing us what its design and engineering departments are capable of churning out.
We’re sorry to trash your expectations this early, but there’s more to the SC2 Concept than the probability of it spawning a road-ready car. For example, Karma says that the all-electric powertrain is powerful enough to propel the rig from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 1.9 seconds. Is this a poke at the Tesla Roadster, which “coincidentally” (and theoretically) can dispatch the same interval in 1.9 seconds, too?
The Audi E-Tron Sportback - Just the Latest Coupe SUV
Audi introduced its second all-electric crossover at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. It’s called the 2021 e-tron Sportback and it’s essentially a sportier looking version of the e-tron SUV introduced in 2018. While the SUV looks like an electric version of the Q7, the e-tron Sportback is essentially an EV variant of the Q8.
The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Is More Efficient Than Ever, Nearly As Fast as a Toyota Supra to 60 MPH
Toyota is going rampant with the RAV4 lately. After launching the fifth-gen of the beloved crossover last year, the company launched the TRD Off-Road model, and now, it is being offered with a plug-in hybrid system. The MINI John Cooper Works GP Is Every Bit as Wild as We Thought It Would Be

The souped-up version of the MINI John Cooper Works was built with performance in mind, delivering the kind of power and ferocity never before seen in a production MINI. The hot hatch also benefits from important aerodynamic upgrades, but it’s the introduction of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine — the most powerful engine ever fitted in a production MINI — that sets the 2020 John Cooper Works GP apart. Only 3,000 units of the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP will be built with each unit priced from $44,900. Deliveries of the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP begin in March 2020.
2020 Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition
The Dodge Challenger is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and Dodge is rolling out a special treat for fans of the muscle car with the Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition. The special edition Challenger is not a traditional stand-alone SE model. Instead, it is a special edition trim package that will be available in seven different colors on four Challenger trim models: the GT RWD, R/T Shaker, R/T Scat Pack Shaker, and R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody. Only 70 units will be built in each color for each trim. That adds up to a total of 1,960 units. The cost of the 50th anniversary trim will vary depending on the Challenger trim. Prices range from $4,995 to $5,995.

The 2019 Hyundai Vision T Plug-In concept is an SUV concept that the Korean automaker introduced at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. A somewhat futuristic design with unique styling cues, the Vision T showcases a brand-new design language. It’s also described as global, so it could inspire a new lineup of SUVs. The crossover is slightly larger than the Hyundai Tucson and it’s a plug-in hybrid. Sadly, there’s no info about the drivetrain and no photos of the Vision T’s interior. The 2021 Aston Martin DBX debuted as the company’s first-ever SUV at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. As expected, the 2021 DBX is a high-performance luxury crossover that shares underpinnings and a beefed-up V-8 engine borrowed from the DB11 and Vantage. It’s as cool as coupe-style luxury crossovers get, but it’s also highly expensive at $192,986 before options. And that’s almost as much as a Lamborghini Huracan.
