Lotus has been a hot topic in the news ever since their astounding resurgence into the sports-car world. The company has decided to move its racing ambitions further along as it has unveiled the Evora Enduro GT Concept car at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show. It was interesting to learn that last year the company had struck a deal with Renault to back its racing team and help with development. Lotus joining F1 racing may be more than a few years off, but this company clearly has big plans. After being rather lethargic during the 1990’s and almost fading away into the night with the Esprit dying out – the company has made drastic changes behind its fearless new leader and is poised to offer several new models within the coming years. With such an emphasis on road-going performance, it was only a matter of time before a racing car was developed.

More details on the Lotus Evora Enduro GT Concept after the jump.

This new racing model of the Evora is no slouch like its Toyota powered cousin. A new 4.0-liter Cosworth –tuned V6 will be the powerplant of choice. It should reach numbers in the range of 440hp at 7,000rpm and 332 lb-ft of torque at 5,500rpm. Power will make its way to the ground by using a XTRAC 426 six-speed sequential transmission which should help hurtle this 2,561lb toy car around a track at ridiculous speeds. Helping keep all the speed under control will be a job left to the double wishbone suspension and adjustable anti-roll bars. The tightened coil springs and adjustable dampers will allow racers to set up their cars to exacting specifications. The lightweight 18” racing wheels will be stopped by six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston units out back.

This car is meant to help Lotus develop further models for race homologation and for different race classes. It’s great to see that the Evora can fit a larger and more powerful engine inside that compartment, maybe Lotus will think about adding one to the lineup just for fun! Until Lotus begins formal tests for its future racing cars we will have no idea of true performance, but the old adage of putting a big engine in a small and nimble car should ring true.

The car has an extravagant exterior color and design. I like the gold lining it make the car more attractive. It’s definitely a racing car but also a luxury car.

Although it really looks attractive on its exterior detailing, I must say that I would still prefer my own Enduro GT with a simple styling. Anyway, why it can’t be with a V8 or V10 engine than with V6 only?

It is the most aggressive concept car that I saw today and I must say that I’m so impressed with this one but I’m quite wondering if what will be the interior features of it.

I like design of its exterior including the lines and spoilers. The speed performance of the car is quite impressive. I bet this would be an impressive racing car.

Now, this is what you call the GT version! The figure performance of the car is quite impressive unlike the power output of the Lotus Exige GT. BTW, I wonder if the Lotus will kill the production of the current Evora?

As expected from the GT car it has an impressive performance and power output. The black-gold them for the vehicle makes it to look quiet sporty as well as its spoilers.

Agreed. The exterior of the car look so aggressive and sporty. BTW, its a smart move for the Lotus to improve the speed performance of this car rather than building a newer concept.

Admittedly, black and gold theme looks good in the car. And I think with its awesome performance as well No doubt that this would sell like hot cakes.

Its good that Lotus have an upgrade on this car rather than creating a newer production. The engine performance is quite impressive and the styling becomes more aggressive.

GT car is supposedly to be a high performing vehicle then how come it only uses a V6 technology! I haven’t heard the debut of this car or they killed it already for a less power engine?

I heard that Lotus is working on the modifying and upgrading the Evora. And I guess its a smart move from them rather than building a newer model that has the same look and performance with their current production like the Evora.

Well, This Lotus Evora the new generation model car has come on your way, The extreme changes that you will shock of. So better think this makes your heart intensify of its greatest speed performances.

The future racing car Enduro Gt concept has a true powerful performance. No wonder it will take home the trophy.

The Evora is definitely one of the cars to watch this season. The car is actually looking good here, and the specs that they have given are rather impressive.

Since this one is just a rendering, it is likely that we will see still more changes in the final version of
the Evora. Expect that there will be a lot of surprises for the final version.

Yes, the Evora looks rather interesting. It is really nice to see Lotus showing a lot of force again in the car circuit. And as far as I can recall, they’re also going to do a lot with the Elise this year.

The Evora’s looking quite nice on this one. Very tempting indeed. Hope that the other car (what’s its name) that Lotus is working on would also be as good as this.
