Believe it or not, the U.S.-Spec Lotus Evora is a little more down to Earth and quieter on the road. Once Lotus boss Phil Popham got behind the wheel of one, he decided Europe needed something a little more daily driver friendly too; that’s how the Lotus Evora GT410 came to be. It sits right alongside the Evora GT 410 Sport, but with being a little more road-focused, it has an entirely different attitude. Here’s what makes it different.

What Makes the Lotus Evora GT410 “Phil’s Spec” Different from the GT 410 Sport?

To help paint a clear picture of what the Evora GT410 is compared to the GT410 Sport, let me come right out and tell you that it’s designed to be more comfortable during daily use without compromising driving dynamics or high-speed capability. It came to be because Lotus boss, Phil Popham, got the chance to drive a U.S. Spec Evora and realized just how different it was compared to Euro-spec models. To put it simply, the U.S.-spec models are quieter and more supple, so to speak.

So, engineers were tasked with making the GT410 more road-friendly, and that’s exactly what they managed to pull off. It all starts with a set of all-weather Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, which is complemented by additional soundproofing in the cabin and better suspension. We’re not sure exactly what changed suspension-wise, but the damper rate has been adjusted to provide a smoother ride. We’d assume there’s a different set of dampers altogether, but Lotus has yet to divulge any official information in that regard.

Another big problem with the Evora GT410 Sport is the lack of rear visibility, but that was addressed as well. The new “Phil Spec” GT410 features a revised tailgate with a larger piece of glass to improve the lackluster visibility. In addition to this, interior upgrades include integrated armrests on the door trim panels, air conditioning, and a “premium” infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

Here’s the real, kicker, though. The Evora GT410 “Phil Spec” comes at the cost of £82,900, £3,000 less than the GT410 Sport, and it comes with the very same engine. The unit in question is a supercharged, 3.5-liter V-6 that’s good for 410 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. With the same power output, you can expect the same performance – 0-60 mph in 4.0-seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. It’ll just be quieter every step of the way.
