Maserati is about to launch a customization program for its cars and SUVs and built a unique Levante to preview the possibilities at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. This one-off SUV was designed for Allegra Antinori, the vice president of famous Italian wine producer Marchesi Antinori.

Painted in a special green color and fitted with a two-tone upholstery that's not yet available for the standard Levante, the Allegra Antinori edition reveals that you may soon be able to order paints and leathers in far more colors and finished that are available right now. While it might not be as diverse as Ferrari's customization program or Bentley's Mulliner offerings, Maserati definitely needs a few extra options in order to become more exclusive. Information is scant as of this writing, but the Levante One of One Allegra Antinora seems to be good start for a personalization program.

What makes Maserati Levante One of One Allegra Antinori special

- Tri-coat green paint - Dark chrome trim - Green-tinted leather - Rich brown leather - Carbon-fiber center console - Standard Levante S engine - 424 horsepower - 428 pound-feet - One-off

Despite claims that this Levante is unique, the exterior doesn't have extra features or modifications beyond a bespoke paint and refinished trim. But the paint is special enough, as it is not available through the SUV's configurator. A triple-coat green paint with metallic flakes, this bright color is inspired by the shades of the Tuscan hills, where Marchesi Antinori makes its famous wines. Instead of the usual bright chrome trim, the Levante now has dark chrome door handles, fender vents, and front grille inserts.

The interior also remained true to the standard Levante, but it features a unique color combination that's not available to regular customers. The upper dashboard, door panels, and parts of the steering wheel are wrapped in fine leather with a green tint, while the remaining surfaces, including the seats sport a rich brown color that references "the warm hues of the earth of Tuscan vineyards."

The seats also have Pieno Fiore leather inserts. This unique hide is colored with aniline and oils, it doesn't have a surface finish, and it features button-tufted effect 3D embroidery. The latter is a technique that gives the color additional depth and provides a smooth tactile sensation. Maserati also claims that this leather will improve with age, just like a fine wine.

The center console is made of carbon-fibre with copper wire, a material that Maserati used for the first time. This is yet another reference to the Antinori estate and the concept of Cor-Ten, the weathering steel used for the construction of the Antinori Winery in the Chianti Classico area between Florence and Siena. The fancied-up interior is rounded off with 100-percent natural mohair wool floor mats.

Maserati had nothing to say about the engine under the hood, but the "SQ4" badge on the rear fascia suggests that this is a Levante S model. As a result, it's powered by a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V-6 engine rated at 424 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. This isn't the least powerful Levante, but it seats below the V-8-powered GTS and Trofeo models. Sprinting to 62 mph takes 5.2 seconds in this model, while top speed comes in at 164 mph.

The customization program that this unique SUV previews should become available to all customers by the end of 2019.
