The MP4-12C GT3 scored some impressive results during the 2012 racing season: 19 victories and an additional 19 podium finishes from a total of 98 race events it competed in. So it’s no wonder why McLaren decided to offer an updated version of the GT3 for the 2013 racing season. For the first time ever, the 2013 MP4-12C GT3 will be available for global competition. Updates include a revised aerodynamics package, an upgraded ECU with a revised electrical system and alternative dampers. The revised aerodynamic package includes a new front splitter, front and rear diffuser and a huge, fully adjustable rear wing. The body panels are made of carbon fiber and the McLaren carbon-fiber MonoCell includes aluminum insertions at the front and rear sub-frames.

On the inside, the McLaren receives a unique McLaren GT steering wheel inspired by the one from MP4-24 Formula 1 race car and, of course, an FIA-approved safety roll cage.

Under the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3’s hood, you will find a race-prepped 3.8-liter V-8 twin-turbo engine featuring McLaren Electronics ECU interfacing with Bosch ABS and Shiftec transmission control units. The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential motorsport transmission pneumatically actuated via steering-wheel-mounted paddles.

The car will be offered with a set of forged-aluminum wheels sized 18-by-12 inches up front and 18-by-13 inches on the rear. The MP4-12C GT3 is brought to a halt by Akebono monoblock calipers with ventilated discs featuring six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear.

The car also received a specially prepared suspension system with a double-wishbone setup. It also features an adjustable ride height, camber and toe, so you can dial it into almost any track.

what i appreciate is that mclaren just made up-grades to the old car, thus allowing the teams to improve the old car instead of getting a new one. that is quite sensible and a thing not most manufacturers would do!

the bottom line of the changes is that they will make the old car a better one in terms of performance and reliability. right?

what no one payed attention to was the changes this new car will bring!

i think brad is right. that is one tough car! stiff suspension, almost no interior. and the list can go on!

midocar, you’d get to hate that car in a matter of days if you drive it on the road!
