Unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show,->ke228 the McLaren 675LT was developed as a modified version of the 650S that paid homage to the iconic F1 "Longtail." Slightly longer but lighter than the standard model, the 675LT->ke5052 is also more powerful and benefits from more downforce. All told, it's a track-focused evolution of the 650S,->ke4801 much like the original "Longtail" was to the F1. With all 500 units accounted for in a matter of weeks, McLaren->ke284 went ahead and chopped the roof off the 675LT in order to give enthusiasts a more exclusive option to the already exciting 650S Spider.

Introduced in late 2015 and scheduled to go under the spotlight at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the 675LT Spider was also set to be built in only 500 examples. Not surprisingly, all units were sold out in just two weeks after it was officially out on sale, meaning that McLaren's booth in Geneva will actually showcase a model you can no longer purchase. Not exactly a deal breaker given that most of us can't afford a $370,000+ supercar.->ke177 Thankfully, the Brits will bring more than just a regular 675LT Spider at the show. In order to celebrate the drop-top's incredible success, McLaren commissioned MSO to develop a unique version of the supercar, sporting a special paint job and extra carbon-fiber inside and out.

Don't start looking for your checkbook though, as this bespoke 675LT Spider will most likely be shipped to a new home as soon as the Geneva Motor Show is over.

What makes the McLaren 675LT Spider By MSO special

The first thing you'll notice about this one-off 675LT Spider is its Ceramic Grey exterior. Picked from the MSO Defined range, this light grey has a slight touch of purple to it and really makes the 675LT stand out. Unfortunately, McLaren didn't say whether this is the only example painted in this color, but I have a hunch that not many customers have opted for this hue. The cool thing about this color is that it goes well with the carbon-fiber elements, and there are plenty of them on this bespoke model.

The 675LT Spider already comes with carbon-fiber splitter, rear fender intakes, side skirts, and rear diffuser as standard, but this model here gets more than that. Extra carbon-fiber elements include a retractable hard-top and tonneau, front wing louvers, rear bumper, and the "Longtail" airbrake. The latter is finished in body color on the upper surface, while the lower plane sports natural carbon-fiber weave. The carbon hardtop alone shaves 2.2 pounds off the car's curb weight. Granted, that doesn't sound like much, but it's tiny figures like this that can make a difference on the race track.

Inside, this MSO stands out thanks to a pair of black, Alcantara-trimmed racing seats highlighted by Xenon Yellow contrast stitching. The same stitching runs into the center console and dashboard, while the rotary Handling and Powertrain controls on the Active Dynamics Panel are finished in Solis, a gold-like yellow color unique to the 675LT Spider. Everything else is standard 675LT, meaning that every surface is covered in either leather, Alcantara or carbon-fiber.

Some gold detailing is also visible through the exposed engine bay with a 24-carat gold heat shield around the titanium exhaust system. This feature is reminiscent of the McLaren F1, which used gold foil as a heat shield in the exhaust compartment. Motivation comes from the same twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V-8 engine rated at 666 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. As a brief reminder, the oomph travels to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and enables the Spider to hit 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, 124 mph in 8.1 seconds, and a top speed of 203 mph.

McLaren 675LT Spider

Launched in late 2015, the 675LT Spider is the seventh member of the Super Series family, which already includes the 650S, 625C, 650S Le Mans, the track-only 650S GT3, and the 675LT coupe. It shares the same engine with its coupe sibling and it's equally fast from 0 to 62 mph. It is two tenths slower from 0 to 124 mph and its top speed dropped from 205 to 203 mph, but it's a small sacrifice for the infinite headroom you get with a convertible.
