McLaren’s MSO division is responsible for some of the most mouth-watering creations we’ve seen in recent memory, and it looks like MSO isn’t done, judging, at least, by a pair of new special-edition models, one of which is called the 720S Track Theme. In keeping with MSO’s tradition of going all-out with its projects, the 720S Track Theme gets a smorgasbord of new features and options, all of which have been added to add an extra touch of exclusivity on what is already an exclusive supercar.

What makes the McLaren 720S Track Theme special

When you have a division like MSO that can make something special out of anything, there’s a tendency to raise the bar as far as expectations are concerned. It’s good to know, then, that even with the bar being raised on MSO, McLaren’s personalization division can still deliver the goods.

“The 720S is an exceptional car in every respect in standard form, but there is always the potential to make it even more special with additional individual creative input, which is where McLaren Special Operations comes in,” MSO Managing Director Ansar Ali said. “We were overwhelmed by the reaction to the 720S Velocity at its unveiling and to bring to life two more versions of the MSO 720S Themes portfolio further demonstrates that MSO can fulfill any request to ensure that a car perfectly meets a customer’s vision.”

The 720S Track Theme was commissioned by McLaren Manchester. The theme of the whole car is centered around McLaren’s championship-winning Formula 1 cars from back in the 80’s and is manifested in the Anniversary-White paint finish of the supercar. The predominantly white 720S also features Carbon Black and Tarroco Orange trim accents, specifically on the hood and doors of the supercar. The same Tarroco Orange accent can also be found on the outer rim of the gloss black wheels. A little easter egg can also be found on the mirror caps. Those who know McLaren’s racing history will recognize the Speedy Kiwi representation on the mirror casings. Rounding out the exclusive exterior details are hand-painted detailing on the hood, doors, rear quarter panels, and airbrake.

Move to the interior of the 720S Track Theme and the changes are just as evident. The carbon fiber trim components in the interior — and exterior, for that matter — have been given a satin finish. The cabin also gets a generous amount of black Alcantara to go with McLaren Orange contrast stitching. MSO also installed a titanium harness bar that’s said to be 50 percent lighter than its steel counterpart. This bar is compatible with a six-point harness if anybody wants to take the 720S Track Theme out for a full track day experience.

There are no engine upgrades to speak of, though it probably doesn’t matter considering that the McLaren 720S already packs a scintillating 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that produces 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to give drivers goosebumps when they’re going to balls-to-the-wall with the supercar. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels, allowing the 720S to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds. Top speed is rated at 212 mph, making the 720S one of the most ferocious supercars in the world.
