So much carbon-fiber!

McLaren’s most aggressive Sports Series model yet, the 600LT, joined the company’s exclusive line of MSO cars with the Stealth Grey edition. Equipped with features from both the MSO Defined and MSO Bespoke catalogs, it made its debut on the Concept Lawn of the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

This is the first 600LT with MSO treatment, but definitely not the last of its kind to hit the streets with bespoke features inside and out. It’s safe to say that most 600LTs — production is "strictly limited," but an actual figure is not available yet — will be ordered with MSO upgrades. Let’s see what the Stealth Grey model is all about.

The MSO treatment includes a few extra features, starting with the bespoke Stealth Grey paint

As usual, MSO-specced McLaren’s look identical to their standard siblings in terms of aerodynamics. This isn’t an issue though, as the 600LT is far more aggressive than the 570S. The body boasts a massive number of aero upgrades front and rear, a big scoop on the roof, and new top-exiting exhaust that comes out through the engine hood.

Of course, the MSO treatment includes a few extra features, starting with the bespoke Stealth Grey paint. As the name suggests, it’s rather dark and gives the car a stealthy appearance specific to military jet fighters. While the paint itself is far from special as far as hue goes, it’s highlighted by Matt Black stripes flanked by thin strips of McLaren Orange on the hoods and roof. The same bright orange accents the front splitter, the side skirts, and the rear diffuser.

The race-inspired, carbon-fiber seats are taken from the Mclaren Senna

Another cool feature is the visual carbon-fiber roof scoop. Designed as a tribute to the old F1 GTR Longtail, this device operates as a fully functional air intake. Other MSO Defined options on the car include all three Carbon Fibre Upgrade packs available for the 600LT. These add door mirrors, exterior door inserts, front splitter, rear bumper, diffuser, and rear deck all made from carbon-fiber. The MSO Defined Carbon Fibre Roof and Cantrails, plus Carbon Fibre Front Fender Louvres also help to further reduce weight. The exterior is rounded off by ultra-lightweight, 10-spoke forged alloy Wheels with a Gloss Black finish.

Inside the cabin, McLaren installed the Super-Lightweight carbon-fiber seats. Available optionally on the 600LT, the race-inspired seats are taken from the Mclaren Senna. They are highlighted with orange contrast stitching that matches the stripes on the body.

Under the hood, the 600LT remains standard, so the twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V-8 engine cranks out the same 592 horsepower

McLaren also added the Carbon Fibre Interior Upgrade Pack that includes central tunnel and door insert panels, as well as the harness bar and six-point harnesses from the MSO Clubsport Pro Pack. Both the carbon scoop and the carbon intake hoses are visible through the headliner, while the headrests sport bespoke embroidery. The cabin upgrade is rounded off by discrete "600LT" etching on the gas pedal, a set of hand-painted keys, and a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

Under the hood, the 600LT remains standard, so the twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V-8 engine cranks out the same 592 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. That’s an extra 30 horsepower and 14 pound-feet compared to the 570S, a bump that comes from reworked internals. The supercar needs 2.9 seconds to hit 62 mph from a standing start, while the 124-mph mark comes in 8.2 clicks. Top speed is rated at 204 mph.

Pricing information is not yet available, but with the basic 600LT priced from around $220,000, an MSO version with so many options should cost close to $300,000, if not a bit more.

Press release

The show-stopping ‘McLaren 600LT in Stealth Grey by MSO’, produced by bespoke division McLaren Special Operations, is set to have its global reveal on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this Sunday, August 26.

Finished in a Stealth Grey MSO Bespoke paint, this unique car features a wide selection of upgrades from both the MSO Defined catalogue of options and MSO Bespoke customer choices, giving a preview of how much personalisation can be incorporated into McLaren’s lightest, most powerful road-legal Sports Series car.

Introduced in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the McLaren 600LT epitomises the McLaren philosophy of producing lightweight sportscars and supercars that deliver extreme performance and exceptional driver engagement. Featuring the unique LT top-exit exhaust, the car delivers 600PS and can sprint to 60mph in just 2.8 seconds on its way to a maximum speed of 204mph.

“MSO Bespoke was established to help customers realise their dreams and allows an almost limitless level of customisation where imagination is the only restrictive factor. With MSO Defined we offer a range of personalisation beyond the standard factory options,” commented Ansar Ali, Managing Director of McLaren Special Operations. “For this special 600LT we have combined a sprinkling of both to create a car that showcases the lightness and track-focused performance of this latest Longtail variant.”

The exterior of the car is distinguished by a Stealth Grey Bespoke paint finish with a Matt Black and McLaren Orange Exterior Pack to accent the car’s aerodynamic features. The iconic Visual Carbon Fibre Roof Scoop, inspired by the legendary McLaren F1 Longtail, is a key MSO Bespoke addition and operates as a fully functional air intake system that invigorates the driving experience with its active air induction sound. A track telemetry camera is also seamlessly integrated into the scoop cover to record inspirational moments.

Other MSO Defined options on the car include all three Carbon Fibre Upgrade packs available for the 600LT, which include door mirrors, exterior door inserts front splitter, rear bumper, diffuser, and rear deck and service cover. An MSO Defined Carbon Fibre Roof and Cantrails, plus Carbon Fibre Front Fender Louvres – which help to further reduce weight – are also fitted. Ultra-Lightweight 10-spoke Forged Alloy Wheels with a Gloss Black finish complete the overall ‘Stealth’ look.

Inside, the occupants are reminded of the 600LT’s track-focused heritage with a myriad of MSO touches including Super-Lightweight Carbon Fibre Racing Seats – taken straight from the McLaren Senna – featuring a McLaren Orange contrast stitch to mirror the exterior striping; a Carbon Fibre Interior Upgrade Pack including central tunnel and door insert panels; and the harness bar and 6-point harnesses from the MSO Clubsport Pro Pack.

The interior’s character is further transformed by the presence of the visual carbon fibre roof scoop cover incorporated into the headliner and the twin visual carbon fibre intake hoses for the scoop that are seamlessly integrated into the 600LT’s cabin design.

Adding a touch of extra luxury is the upgraded 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Audio System for enjoying those drives to the track, while beautiful detail touches that complete the picture include Bespoke Embroidery in the headrests, the discrete etching of ‘600LT’ on the throttle pedal and a Bespoke set of hand-painted keys that unlock the passport to 600LT adventures.
