This is the stunning McLaren 600LT Spider by MSO. It is an even better sorted out 600LT, which is a hard thing to achieve considering that McLaren hit a home run with it. Nevertheless, McLaren is really big on personalization. It does have a special division dedicated to it, and it is called McLaren Special Operations. The magicians that work there are responsible for some of the best McLaren cars of the past few years. Just look at these beauties:

-* 2019 McLaren 600LT by MSO

-* 2018 McLaren 675LT MSO Gulf Racing Edition

-* McLaren 720S Velocity MSO Special Edition

Obviously, people buying McLarens have enough dough to throw at their cars, and it is estimated that almost every McLaren sold has some MSO blood in it. Yet, the new one goes a bit further compared to any 600LT Spider we've ever seen. And, I'm not talking in terms of performance, either. After all, I told you eight amazing things about the 600LT some time ago. There, you could learn all astounding performance facts about it.

What makes the McLaren 600LT Spider by MSO special

As always, McLaren Special Operations wanted to make the most of the new 600LT Spider. While I have some problems trying to find the reason for the creation of yet another special edition McLaren, I am not exactly complaining. This thing is amazing.

Then, the Brits garnished it with Napier Green details on the splitters, sills, doors, and the diffuser. All this pays homage to the 675LT. Now, this is not just a vinyl strip added to accentuate the 600LT Spider's edges. In fact, it is a finish applied with a whole new technique used on McLaren racing cars. I am not exactly completely certain about how it all works out, so this is what McLaren said about the process:

“In a first for McLaren road cars, the Napier Green accents are applied using a new technique that sees the paint applied onto a light and flexible film that ensures a premium quality bespoke color match. The film has previously been used on the McLaren 720S GT3 and 570S GT4 race cars, and this application typifies MSO’s commitment to new and innovative techniques.”

The special film added to the most striking parts of the 600LT Spider does make the thing pop. But I have a reasonable question. Is it really enough for MSO to make the 600LT Spider even more special just by adding some cool and smart paint scheme?

I am not sure it is, but considering that everyone does it, I am less mad.

Let me list you some insane paint scheme options:

Do you remember when, in 2017, Porsche introduced the 911 Turbo with the special Saffron Yellow Metallic paint color? Porsche charged $11,580 for it.

Before that, Porsche Exclusive (Porsche’s equivalent to MSO, basically) introduced us to something even more insane - a paint scheme called Python Green Chromaflair. They sell it for $97,000.

Aston Martin is known for its amazing finish options, like Viridian Green or the incredible Sunburst Yellow, among others. All of them available via special personalization program at an additional cost

U.S. manufacturers aren’t immune to it either. Does anyone remember Black Diamond Tri-coat paint option for Cadillac? It wasn’t too pricey, but it was really cool.

And then we have a BMW Frozen Grey finish on the M3 from 2012. The paint scheme only upped the price of the car by nearly $15,000. Only 30 were produced and were sold within 12 minutes.

With all of that said I’ve concluded that you can make the car special by doing nothing more than applying a special paint coat to it.

What’s Else Special On the McLaren 600LT Spider by MSO?

Plus, I am sure that it used all the available carbon-fiber pieces for it - you can find this precious material basically everywhere. And yes, the seats in the 600LT Spider are lifted right out of the amazing Senna hypercar. So that’s that.

Power and Performance

There's nothing new in this department. Not that you’d need it. Get this:

-* 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds

-* Top speed of 201 mph
