Now that we’ve seen the third generation ML-Class, Mercedes was ready to launch its most powerful version: the ML63 AMG. The sporty SUV was to be revealed at the 2011 Los Angeles Show, but with just two days before the official debut, Mercedes decided it was time to unveil the official details on the SUV. Sales of the new ML63 AMG will begin in the first quarter of 2012.

The whole goal behind the new ML63 AMG was to "bring sport back." At least that is what Mercedes is attempting: "In a world flooded with average SUVs, it is time to bring back dynamic handling, pulse quickening power and most importantly, sport."

The current ML63 AMG uses a 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, but the new model will adopt the same treatment as all of the latest AMG models: a 5.5 liter V8 engine with 518 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. With the optional AMG Performance Package, the V8 engine’s power output will be increased to 550 HP and 560 lb-ft of torque.

AMG illuminated sill panels feature dynamic styling and establish a visual link between the front and rear of the vehicle. Mercedes has placed a AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine under the ML63 AMG’s hood, which features spray-guided gasoline direct injection with piezo injectors, ECO stop/start system, an all-aluminum crankcase, four valves per cylinder with camshaft adjustment, air-to-water charge air cooling, and an efficient alternator management.

The engine delivers a total of 518 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. Combined with the AMG Performance Package, these values rise to 550 HP and 560 lb-ft. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph will be made in 4.7 seconds (4.6 seconds with AMG package), while top speed is limited to 155 mph. With the AMG Performance Package, top speed can be increased to 174 mph.

The engine is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission featuring three driving programs: "Controlled Efficiency" mode (C), Sport (S) mode, and Manual (M) mode.

The Mercedes ML63 AMG will also be equipped with electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering, 20inch 5-spoke alloy wheels painted in titanium grey with a high-gloss finish, and an AMG high-performance braking system.

The new Mercedes ML63 AMG will have to take on high performance models like the BMW X5 and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The Mercedes may not have much to fear in the X5 though. The BMW uses a V8 petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo and direct injection that delivers a total of 407 bhp at 5,500 – 6,400 rpm and sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. The ML63 AMG clearly outdoes the BMW X5 in this arena.

The Cayenne Turb, however, brings more to the table. It uses a 4.8-liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 500hp @6,000rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque, while the 0 to 60 mph sprint is made in 4.4 seconds.

In spite of having a weak engine, I would still prefer to have this vehicle for it has a very comfortable and cozy interior, and I as yet find it efficient on its barrel.

Well, the sporty luxury appearance of this ML63 is really so striking, and I must say that its interior equipments is absolutely very awesome on this car! I’m also glad that it had an impressive engine specification.

I have to agree with you rado guissepe. Moreover, it’s a great thing as well that it has a very entertaining and comfortable interior which I’m sure other vehicle don’t have.

Well, for me, it doesn’t really matter if there’re a lot of cars out there, which is faster than on this AMG. The most important is the fact that it can still offer an efficient and impressive engine.

I also wonder if why it needs to be more powerful with, in fact; it is not a sports car instead an SUV. Anyway, unlike them, I’m so interested and impressed on this vehicle, especially on its technology.

It looks more interesting and awesome for me than with Porsche Cayenne and it doesn’t really matter if there’s still more powerful vehicles out there than on this Mercedes. The most important is, it is as yet have an efficient engine and a comfortable interior.

One of the great features of this ML63 AMG is its interior, which is very luxury and class and aside from that, I also love the fact that it has a nice engine output which gives me an idea that it is fun to drive with.

I love the package of this ML63 AMG! It is absolutely cool on that. Moreover, I noticed that it is very noticeable on its aggressive appearance, but I hope that they already include some pictures on its interior.

  (558) posted on 12.11.2011

Well, between this ML63 AMG and with its rival. This vehicle will surely stand out not only on its aggressive but also with its interior features and its speed performance, which seems so fun to drive with because on that!

  (419) posted on 12.8.2011

I have to agree with you Rado_guissepe. The important either is that it has a comfortable interior and very reliable as a family vehicle unlike with its rival which seems not so reasonable to use.

  (579) posted on 12.1.2011

It is really now more powerful, and I’m glad to hear that its engine is so efficient than before, but I have to agree that there’re still lots of cars out there, which can offer a better engine than on what this AMG has.

  (474) posted on 11.27.2011

Even though there are lots of more powerful vehicles out there, I would still prefer to have this ML63 AMG, for the fact that it had bunched of standard equipment, which is so satisfying and very cool.

  (428) posted on 11.24.2011

The steering wheel of this AMG seems so great with it, even its center console that was trimmed in aluminum elements is looking awesome either! However, it’s too sad to know that it doesn’t have an engine option.

  (365) posted on 11.23.2011

The mileage on its exterior makes it more looks so aggressive, which is very appealing with this AMG. Anyway, I’m glad that it still adopted the powerful engine, just like what their other AMG vehicles had.

  (287) posted on 11.22.2011

The Porsche Cayenne is I think the toughest competitor of this vehicle! Well, aside from the fact that both cars are really looking so great with their appearance, they can also both offer an impressive power train.

  (463) posted on 11.21.2011

The mileage of this ML63 AMG makes this vehicle look more aggressive, which is looking very attractive on it. I’m also glad that they use a powerful and efficient engine for it.

Mercedes is really looking great and satisfying with its over-all features, but I would still prefer to have a Porsche Cayenne than on this. I also noticed that Porsche is more looks so fun to drive with.

  (528) posted on 11.20.2011

I think it is better if they use a lighter touch on its interior, but that’s only a suggestion. smiley Anyway, it still looks great on that, and I love the technology that it can offer, very entertaining!

The wheel of this AMG is so cool on it! Even the mileage of it is also looking great on this vehicle. Its interior is either very impressive on its substantial technology that it can offer.
