Mercedes-AMG->ke4853 has a lot riding on the success of the GT sports car,->ke506 especially considering Mercedes’->ke187 plan to make it a multi-generational model. One way to keep the GT as fresh as possible is to give it optional packages like the Night Package we saw earlier this week. Turns out, it’s far from the only package Mercedes has in store for the GT. Shortly after announcing the Night Package, the German automaker also dropped details on two more optional packages: the Carbon Fiber Package and the Silver Chrome Package.
The two packages are of the aesthetic and aerodynamic variety so don’t get your hopes up of seeing any improvements made to the GT’s engine, but the carbon fiber and silver chrome kits do offer a level of personalization you wouldn’t be able to get on a standard GT.
The names of both kits are pretty self-explanatory, too. There are a lot of carbon fiber goodies on the Carbon Fiber Package and there are a lot of chrome details on the Silver Chrome Package.
Choosing a package for the GT does have a caveat. If, say, you opt to get the Carbon Fiber Package, you won’t be able to use the Silver Chrome Package or the Night Package, for that matter, on the car. The same principle applies if you get the Silver Chrome Package or the Night Package. These are being sold as complete packages, and at the moment Mercedes is not allowing for any mix-and-match shenanigans.
If you’re still cool with that setup, then you’re going to have a tough choice on your hands. Should you want the cheaper of the two packages, the Silver Chrome Package only costs €1,130, which is about $1,500 based on current exchange rates. If money isn’t a problem, the Carbon Fiber Package will set you back €4,700, which is close to $6,000 on current exchange rates.

Mercedes-AMG GT Carbon and Silver Chrome Packages in detail
The cheaper of the kits is the Silver Chrome Package. The lack of carbon fiber accounts for its modest price tag. But that doesn’t mean it’s any less stylish.
Among the prominent features of the kit is a new silver chrome front splitter, new fender fins, a decorative strip in the diffuser, and a chrome diamond grille. Aluminum silver roofline trim is also part of this package, same with the glossy black intake and hood outlet grilles.
The Carbon Fiber package is understandably more expensive than the Silver Chrome package because it uses a healthy dose of carbon fiber components on the GT. It comes with a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber fender fins, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, and carbon fiber mirror housings.
On top of all those additions, the Carbon Fiber package also comes with a glossy black diamond grille, new hood grilles, and a new air intake grille.
Mercedes-AMG GT
The Mercedes-AMG GT first made its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and it couldn't have come at a better time for Mercedes and AMG. The GT is widely considered as the SLS AMG’s baby brother and there are definitely some styling details that draw similarities with the more powerful SLS AMG.
Under its hood, the GT features a 4.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 456 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. These numbers allow the car to cover 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds to go with a top speed of 189 mph.
A more powerful GT S is also being offered. It carries the same 4.0 V-8 engine, but output has been improved to 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The better numbers translate to a faster 0 to 60 mph of just 3.7 seconds to go with a higher top speed of 193 mph, four mph more than the top speed of the "standard" GT.
