2018 Mercedes-AMG G 63 by Inkas Armored Vehicles

We didn’t think the G 63 could be recreated this way, but we’re glad to be proven wrong

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is one of the most unique vehicles in the industry today. Part off-road marauder, part luxury box on wheels, the G 63 cuts an identity of its own that’s far different from what we’re used to from other SUVs. Knowing that makes what Inkas Armored Vehicles did to the AMG G 63 a little easier to understand. The company known for building armored cars took a stab at the AMG G 63, and as you might expect, the results will blow your mind.

What Makes the Mercedes-AMG G 63 So Special?

Well, you only need to take one look at it to understand what makes it special. This Mercedes-AMG G 63 is the embodiment of opulence taken to extreme levels. It’s much longer now than a standard model, effectively making it a limousine. Not only that, it’s also armored to the bones, thanks in large part to Inkas’ expertise in that department. Think you can mess with the Inkas 63? If you want to try, you’re going to have to deal with the fact that it can withstand 7.62 mm rounds from a high-powered rifle or up to two explosions from DM51 hand grenades. Whereas normal cars will likely end up getting toasted by these high-powered ammunitions, the Inkas 63 will keep rolling along with not a care in the world.

The hardcore, armored-up exterior of the Inkas 63 casts a menacing shadow when you see it on the road. But once you step inside the interior, that intimidating presence melts away and turns into a five-star luxury hotel. Ok, so it’s not really a hotel because there are no king-size beds in the interior. But the cabin still gives off that vibe. Step inside the Inkas 63 and you enter a large and remodelled space that not only features all the Alcantara and exotic leather you can imagine, but also a state-of-the-art entertainment system that that heavily features the latest innovation from tech giant Apple.

There’s a 4K Apple TV in there, to go along with a 4K ultra-high-definition TV, Apple Siri, and Apple HomeKit integration. A motorized bar is also present in the front, and there’s even a built-in toolbox in there. It’s hard to imagine enjoying this kind of setup, but Inkas also added a pair of captain seats that can fully recline, offer massage functions, and features built-in control centers that lets you take command of the vehicles’ media, lighting, comfort, and security options, all while sitting back in plush leather with your feet resting comfortably on their own rests. And in case you want the ambience to go with your level of comfort, the headliner can be customized to suit your needs.

It’s hard to imagine a Mercedes G63 that has this kind of luxury equity. But Inkas not only designed it to give you an interior that represents the finest things in life, but it also turned the cabin into a luxury cocoon of sorts, one that’s wrapped heavily with thick body armor and ballistic glass that can withstand bullets and explosions. Heck, the vehicle even has thermal and infrared perimeter surveillance cameras that can upload footage to the cloud.

There are no upgrades made to the SUV’s engine — a 5.5-liter V-8 unit remains in its place — but at this point, it probably doesn’t need one. Even with the added weight brought about by its increased size and weight, the SUV-turned-armored-limousine still has 563 horsepower to run with. That’s more than enough power to escape even the most perilous of situations.

Ultimately, the Inkas 63 is an exercise in power, safety, and opulence. You can get one without the other from other models, but nobody said you can’t get all of it in one vehicle. That’s what this ride is all about, and if you’re prepared to pay up to get one — it costs $1.2 million — then nobody’s ever going to question your baller status anymore.
