Brabus products are some of the most expensive aftermarket builds that you can buy today. If you can get anything south of half-a-million dollars, then it’s a bargain. The company specializes in Mercedes products and has created tens of iterations of its popular models in the past. But, one product that Brabus can’t get enough of is the G-Class. In all fairness, no one can get enough of it. So, can’t really blame Brabus here.

Anyway, the German tuner has come up with yet another G63 build, called the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition. It comes with an exclusive exterior shade, carbon fiber components on the exterior, and power boosts that make this boxy SUV sprint to 62 mph in under four seconds. How about that!

German aftermarket company, Brabus, has come up with yet another G63 build called the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition

Believe it or not, Mercedes offers the AMG G63 in 37 different exterior shades! And yet, Brabus chose to offer it in two of its signature shades that aren’t a part of the manufacturer’s palette – Stealth Gray and Signature Black. Not that you don’t have black and silver in those 37 shades, but you get the point. That said, you can still choose to have it any other color.

The SUV comes with a whole lot of carbon fiber elements. Up front, the spoiler and RamAir intake grille are composed of it. At the rear, it’s the diffuser and the spoiler. The company has even made use of Widestar elements, which we’ve seen in the past, too. There are skirts at the front and rear for an aggressive look. The fender flares come with illuminated Brabus lettering. Even the running board caps and the Brabus logo on the grille are illuminated.

A lot of other elements are present that are finished in glossy carbon fiber. These include:

  • Hood attachment
  • Rear door cover
  • Wing mirror caps
  • Trim stripes
  • Door handles

Coming to its wheels and tires, the Brabus G63 Rocket Edition rides on 24-inch ‘Monoblock Platinum Edition Z’ forged wheels. They are finished in glossy black with red pinstripes. They are fitted with Aero Discs to aid the aerodynamics of the SUV’s boxy stature. The wheels are wrapped in 295/30 section tires at the front and thick, low-profile 355/25 section tires at the rear. Brabus has partnered with Continental, Pirelli, and Yokohama to provide the tires.

Three carbon packages are offered by Brabus, and they include three, five, and eight carbon fiber components, respectively

As is with any high-end aftermarket build, the interior customization is left to the customer’s taste and preference. In the images, the company has upholstered the SUV in Royal Black leather with stealth gray stitching. Almost every other component here is also swapped with Brabus elements. Stuff like carbon interior handles, shift paddles, door lock pins, ambient lighting, etc.

Three carbon packages are offered by Brabus, and they include three, five, and eight carbon fiber components, respectively. Nothing extraordinary here, but what caught our attention is the Shadow Gray package. This includes 206 stock elements being swapped with Brabus components. Talk about attention to detail!

In the stock form, the Mercedes-AMG G63 comes with a 4.0-liter, Biturbo V-8 engine under the hood. It dishes out 577 horses and 627 pound-feet of twist. Power is routed to all the wheels via a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. It takes 4.5 seconds to sprint to 60 mph from rest.

Instead of just offering a tune-up, the company has increased the engine’s displacement to 4.5 liters.

This includes:

  • 100 mm crankshaft
  • Eight special connecting rods
  • Eight forged pistons
  • Two special turbochargers with larger compressors
  • Two high-pressure fuel pumps
  • Booster pump
  • 80-mm downpipe
  • Catalyst system

Brabus will make only 25 examples of the G63 900 Rocket Edition

All these things, coupled with a new ECU have prompted the engine to dish out 888 horses and 922 pound-feet of twist. This is an increase of 311 ponies and 295 pound-feet of oomph. The SUV now takes just 3.7 seconds to 62 mph from rest. The top speed is also increased to 174 mph.

Brabus has installed its RideControl aluminum coilover suspension system with electronically controlled dampers. It has lowered the stance by 1.8 inches. Even the brakes are changed, with the stopping duties now taken over by 15.75-inch steel vented rots at the front and 14.6-inch rotors at the rear.

It also features a new stainless steel exhaust system that comes with active controlled valves.
The tailpipes are finished in carbon. This makes sure the SUV roar like a lion when loose, but can also be tamed if need be. All this at the touch of a button. There’s also a Rocket Launch ambient lighting to further add to the drama.

This build is quite exclusive as the German aftermarket company will make only 25 examples of the Mercedes-AMG G63 900 Rocket Edition. Around 10 of these are slated for deliveries this year, and the rest of them sometime in 2022.

Brabus has so many G63 builds, and yet, there can’t be enough. Each one is unique in its own way. One of them was powered by a V-12 mill, and heck, we’ve even seen a pickup truck version of it in the form of the G-Class 800 Adventure. Also, this isn’t the first ‘Rocket Edition’ that the tuner has come up with. It’s been using this badge for decades now, and was recently even slapped on a GT63 S twist. That was, in fact, even more exclusive than this G63 900 Rocket Edition with just 10 examples being built.
