It was September, 1921 when Maybach Motorenbau GmbH presented its first mass-produced car at the motor show in Berlin. The model was named W3 and it was the first German production car with four-wheel brakes, an epicyclic gear system, and an interior with the finest materials.

To commemorate the event, Maybach launched the special "Edition 100". It will be based on both the S-Class and the GLS, each limited to 100 units. In Europe, orders will begin in the fourth quarter of 2021 and sales at the beginning of 2022. The U.S. market will only get the sedan version with sales to begin in the first half of 2022.

What makes the Mercedes-Maybach Edition 100 special

The S-Class Edition 100 is powered by a V-12 engine that delivers 612 horsepower, while the GLS SUV gets a V-8 engine with 557 horsepower.

Both models will be hand-painted in the same color combinations: high-tech silver and nautical blue, and both will offer the same interior: leather in designo crystal white/silver grey pearl color.

The new Edition 100 features an impressive radiator grille with the brand logo placed right on the top of the chrome surrounds. "Edition 100" letter are placed on the C-pillar for the S-Class and the D-pillar on the GLS, but also on the hub cups. The wheels on both models feature a new grey finish.

The interior is soundproofed and comes equipped with lots of cool technologies, including Burmester 4D surround sound system, heat and massage functions for the seats and high-tech screens for infotainment.

Orders will be accepted from the fourth quarter of 2021.
