Forza Horizon 3’s New DLC Unleashes This Mercedes-AMG Supercar
One of the best things about owning a Mercedes-AMG GT R is the fact that you can enjoy all 577 horses sitting underneath that long, sloping hood. But like most cars, enjoying a car like the AMG GT R is also subject to weather conditions. It’s perfect to drive on a sunny day with clear skies, but not so much during the frigid winter season. Fortunately, we can now tuck our actual GT R’s inside their garages and still enjoy driving one during the cold season, thanks in large part to Forza Horizon 3’s new Blizzard Mountain downloadable content expansion.
You’ll probably remember Turn 10 Studios & Playground Games introduce the Blizzard Mountain downloadable content expansion for $19.99 last month. Turns out, the developers had a surprise up its sleeve because the new DLC actually has more things in store for gamers on top of racing on a “frozen lake.” The pack also includes a number of races and winter weather challenges, all of which are set in the vicinity of the fictitious Blizzard Mountain. Gamers can also use the AMG GT R in the new Snow Drift bucket list challenge where Mercedes-AMG’s range-topping GT model needs to complete a smattering total of 50 drift skills on ice and snow in under four minutes. Seems like a good challenge for the Mercedes-AMG GT R, right?
The AMG GT R may not be an ideal car to use in real-life winter conditions. But in the video game world that is Forza Horizon 3 where the name of the game is going full tilt racing on cars like the GT R, there’s no amount of snow or ice that’s going to stop gamers like myself from pushing that pedal to the floor. And if you’re not down with that, well, this new video of the AMG GT R going through the paces in the game to Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers should be enough to get your juices going.

We have seen the McLaren P1 headline Forza Motorsports 5, the new Lamborghini Huracán is the king of the upcoming Forza Horizon 2, and now it looks like Mercedes-Benz has teamed up with Sony to jump into the game.

Seeing Mercedes models in video games is something we expect to see in Gran Turismo or Forza 5. But Mario Kart 8? Can’t say we saw this one coming.
But as it turns out, some of Mercedes’ finest models have been included as a sponsored pack for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. The video above shows such iconic classics like the 300 SL Roadster and the W 25 Silver Arrows mixed in with modern-day offerings like the GLA-Class and the CLA-Class.
It’s an eclectic lineup of Mercedes models, but it’s definitely an effective way to reach a new platform of gamers that don’t play the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4. We’ve found Mario Kart to be incredibly addicting in the past, and these Mercedes likely won’t make it easier to drop the controller.
If you happen to have Wii U and Mario Kart 8, check out the video above. It might even entice you to get the Mercedes pack once you’re done watching it.
There will probably come a time when Mercedes vehicles will look like this. That time hasn’t come yet, and we’re not really sweating t too much, especially when there are things like Gran Turismo that can give us glimpses of what the future could look like.
To this point, BMW and Mercedes have unveiled their Vision Gran Turismo Concepts. But Mercedes isn’t content with just one iteration of its concept; nope, it actually has two of these concepts and the latest is the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series.
According to Mercedes, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series was designed to compete in Gran Turismo 6’s "competitive racing scene." That’s all well and good and the concept looks really incredible. It’s also slightly modified from the "standard" Mercedes Vision Gran Turismo Concept to fit its racing credentials, including the addition of a a fixed rear wing that improves downforce on high-speed circuits and conventional mirrors in place of the CCS cameras the original concept had.
As far as performance goes, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series is powered by a 5.5-liter, twin-turbo, V-8 engine that produces an impressive 591 horsepower and connected to a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. No performance numbers were given, but seeing as the car only weighs 2,866 pounds, it should be good for at least 200 mph.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series is now available on Gran Turismo 6, and you can acquire it by participating in a new seasonal event that’s available in the game.

As amazing as this may sound, the AMG Gran Vision Turismo will make it to production! Unfortunately, Mercedes will be the developer, but a custom builder whom will use the brand new 2014 SLS AMG GT as the base car. The production version of the Vision Concept will feature a carbon-fiber body kit that will the SLS AMG GT’s total weight by about 200 pounds. It will feature a chrome paint job and will come with a retractable rear spoiler and custom exhaust. The car will also ride on custom ADV.1 wheels and will feature a modified interior, with color designed according to the customer’s request.
We assume that the engine will be the SLS AMG GT’s 6.3-liter V-8, but we have yet to confirm this.
We have reached out to the manufacturer to get some more information on the vehicle, and we will bring you a full review once we receive all of the information.

It’s already been well established that the 2014 Mercedes CLA 45 AMG is headed to the New York Auto Show. But even though that’s still a little over a month away, we’re already seeing some sneak peeks at the new compact luxury sedan.
The latest comes by way of Driveclub, a new racing game that’s developed exclusively for the Sony PlayStation 4. Unlike the Gran Turismo franchise, Driveclub is being touted as a game that offers highly connected gameplay that, according to Sony, is meant to be played in real clubs and encourages co-op game play among multiple players.
Well, one of the car’s that’s being prepared to be part of the game is the new CLA 45 AMG and as well it should because the luxury car comes packed with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that nets 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. More importantly, just like the game, the CLA 45 AMG is also a sight to behold, looking the part of a luxury sedan that’s well worth serious consideration when it hits dealerships in the future.
Keep it locked it in here when the CLA 45 AMG makes its world debut at the New York Auto Show. And in case you’re wondering, too, the PS4 and Driveclub are expected to hit stores just in time for the holidays.
For better or for worse, Gran Turismo 5 has dominated the headlines for 2010. From all the delays that haunted the game at the start of the year all the way to the hotly anticipated game finally being released, Gran Turismo 5 has been in the news for pretty much the whole year.
And seeing as we’re on the last days of 2010, it only seems appropriate that GT5 would once again capture the headlines, although this time, it’s about a much more different reason. One that, unfortunately for all of us, will only concern gamers over in Europe.
On December 27th, GT5’s ‘Signature Edition Challenge’ officially went live, signaling the start of the competition among European gamers for the chance to win a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Not a die-cast model of any kind. It’s the real deal.
The grand-prize of the SLS AMG is a testament to the strong partnership forged by the GT5 creator Kazunori Yamauchi with the German automaker. “We have enjoyed a brilliant working relationship with Mercedes-Benz throughout the production of Gran Turismo 5 and the stunning prize that they have offered for this competition is a testament to that.”
Details after the jump.
Mercedes-Benz is offering car lovers a chance of a lifetime. People from all over the world might get the chance to drive the new super sports car from AMG, the SLS. This car is so rare that most of us will never have the chance to see one in the flesh, let alone drive one.
This experience includes driving the 6.3-liter V8 SLS around a few famous European racetracks, being driven around a track by former Formula One driver David Coulthard, racing on the Top Gear test track, and a few unique driving days at Mercedes-Benz World. Only a lucky few will be selected to participate in these events.
To get your chance, look for subtle links to the ‘rare chances to experience the SLS AMG’ entry forms on the Internet and out in the real world.
One event has already taken place, which was the chance to get driven around by David Coulthard, but it’s the next event that will really take the cake.

As if we don’t have enough reasons to buy Gran Turismo 5 as soon as it hits stores on December 29, Mercedes has given us one more.
It’s just been brought to our attention that the most eagerly-anticipated racing game ever will be featuring no less than Mercedes’ new super car, the SLS AMG Gullwing. If that doesn’t make you salivate for another three months, we don’t know what will.
The car was successfully unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it sure lived up to all the previous hype it was getting around the industry. The Gullwing comes with a monstrous front/mid-mounted 6.3-liter V8 engine capable of producing 571 horsepower with a top speed of well over 300 km/h. Now, we can go all day just drooling over the specs of the Gullwing and it probably still won’t be enough to contain our excitement knowing that it will be a playable car on GT 5.
Hey, it’s not like we can just head over to a local dealership and pony up a quarter of a million dollars to buy the real thing. So, we’ll settle for the next best thing. At least we’ll only have to shell out 60 bucks for that.
