Mercedes Teases The Vision EQXX Concept - A Promise to Deliver 750-Miles of Range
Mercedes-Benz is working on a brand-new, all-electric concept car. It’s called the Vision EQXX and the German firm released teaser images and some details during its 2020 strategy update presentation. By far the biggest highlight is its record-breaking range, estimated at around 750 miles!
Is This Impressive Rendering A Look Into The Future of Mercedes?
If the car industry has learned us anything so far it’s that carmakers like to play with concept vehicles but they’re also part work. More often than not, a concept car has led a car brand’s direction and approach for the years to come and we’re not only talking about design cues and whatnot, but also that brand’s vision of mobility.
In that context, we can’t ignore two of Mercedes-Benz’s most stunning concepts, the 2015 F 015 prototype and the more recent Vision AVTR, unveiled at the 2020 CES in Las Vegas. Both are about luxury first and foremost but also about a new avenue that might spur other carmakers to join the bandwagon: a reinterpreted interaction between human, machine, and nature.
Then we stumbled onto this unofficial design study, dubbed the Mercedes-Benz Vision Duet Concept.
2020 Mercedes Vision AVTR - A Look Into the Impossible Future
The Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR is a futuristic concept car that explores new design options and technologies, as well as the "vision of designers, engineers, and trend researches for mobility in the distant future." The AVTR name stands for Advanced Vehicle Transformation, but it also represents the company’s collaboration with the team that produced Avatar, a science fiction film directed and produced by James Cameron and released in 2009. While previous Vision concepts from Mercedes-Benz were also futuristic, they still featured technologies and styling cues linked to production cars, while some of the design actually made it on vehicles you can buy in dealerships. The Vision AVTR is an entirely different story as its features and technologies won’t be transferred to production cars in the near future.
2019 Mercedes-Benz Vision Simplex Concept
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz Vision Simplex is a concept car that the German company introduced at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The show car pays homage to the iconic Mercedes 35 HP race car from 1901, an automobile that previewed the Mercedes Simplex, a production road car the German firm built from 1902 to 1909. A retro-inspired two-seater, the Vision Simplex brings the 35 HP into the future through a sleeker look, modern technology, and state-of-the-art craftsmanship.
The Vision Simplex joins a long list of Vision-branded concept cars that started with the Vision SLA in 2000 and includes the AMG Vision Gran Turismo coined in 2013. The Vision Simplex follows the Vision Van of 2016 and the Vision EQS of 2019, the latter being a preview of an all-electric S-Class sedan. Will the Vision Simplex spawn a production model? Definitely not, but it’s one of the coolest concepts around. Let’s have a closer look.
Sometimes it feels like there are more futuristic concepts floating around that there are modern cars on the road. While that may not really be the case, there certainly isn’t a deficit of concepts that represent what automakers see in their future. Not all of them are crazy, though, and that’s exactly what brings me to the concept we’re talking about today: The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS. This specific concept is actually, in at least some way, shape, or form, representative of a future electric model equivalent to the S-Class Saloon. If the production version of the EQS follows the same suit as the new EQC SUV, then it won’t look a whole lot like this concept, but that’s a story for a different time. For now, let’s take a closer look at the Mercedes Vision EQS and see what Mercedes expects out of the full-size electric saloon of the future.
Does the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS Really Represent the Future of Mercedes Electric Mobility?
Mercedes has just introduced the Vision EQS Concept and, given the EQS designation, we believe that this concept will end up moving into production as part of Merc’s EQ line of electric vehicles. This concept, ladies and gentleman, essentially represents the electric S-Class of the future. All of the prerequisites are there from the long wheelbase to the sporty nature and class-leading luxury. This concept is loaded to the gills with new technology, semi-autonomous driving capability, and a cabin that’s worth of the S-Class name. Does it all seem a little futuristic to you? Well, it should, but the truth is that this car probably isn’t that far off from production. With that in mind, you’ll be happy to hear that it’s still meant to be a driver’s car too. Here’s what you need to know.
2019 Mercedes-Benz Concept GLB
The Mercedes-Benz Concept GLB is a concept vehicle that previews a new crossover from the German company. As the name suggests, the GLB is the SUV equivalent of the B-Class compact; thus the production model will slot between the existing GLA and GLC, corresponding to the A-Class and C-Class, respectively. The concept vehicle was unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show in near-production-ready form.
Notably larger than the GLA, the Concept GLB is actually almost as big as the GLC. But the crossover stands out through its boxy design cues. Although it’s not the baby G-Class it was rumored at first, it’s notably boxier than the coupe-styled GLA, and it also feels more utilitarian than the GLC. The concept features a production-ready design, it’s equipped with technology already available in Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and comes with a production four-cylinder engine under the hood. Let’s find out more about it in the review below.
Mercedes Concept EQV Previews the World’s First Premium Electric Van
Mercedes-Benz showed up at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show with a new vehicle that will expand it’s EQ-badge all-electric offering. Following the introduction of the EQC crossover, Mercedes now wants to expand into the van market with the EQV. It’s just a concept for now, but it previews an all-electric version of the V-Class passenger van.
Mercedes Previews Future City Driving with Vision URBANETIC Concept
Auto show season is creeping up, and that means the concepts are starting to roll on out. One of the first out the gates is this new all-electric, fully autonomous, highly customizable transportation bubble from Mercedes-Benz Vans, which offers highly intelligent conveyance for not only people, but goods and cargo as well.

2018 Mercedes EQ Silver Arrow
Mercedes has unveiled the Vision EQ Silver Arrows Concept, and it is a stunner. The concept is a feast for the senses, a product of Mercedes’ masterful use of its own heritage and reinventing it with a futuristic electric-jolted twist. As it is, the EQ Silver Arrow is a showcase concept — and what a concept, it is — that we’ll never see in production form. The good news is that the concept isn’t just a muscle-flexing design exercise, too. Parts of the concept will appear in Mercedes’ new electric brand offshoot, EQ. As to what those parts are? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Mercedes Drops New Teaser of Pebble Beach-Bound Aesthetics Progressive Luxury Concept
Mercedes’ not-so-mysterious Aesthetics Progressive Luxury Concept is a few days away from making its debut, and as expected, the German automaker isn’t wasting time generating some buzz ahead of the concept’s grand unveiling. Mercedes’ own design boss, Gorden Wagener, is the latest to drop a teaser of the Aesthetics Progressive Luxury Concept, giving us a shadowy close-up look of the car’s side profile.
Mercedes Teases a New Retro Electric Concept for Pebble Beach
We already know that Mercedes-Benz is bringing a new show car to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. We also know that it’s called the Aesthetics Progressive Luxury Concept and its in-house name — Electric Silver Arrow — suggests that it’s connected to the automaker’s newly created EQ electric brand. Everything else, though, is still a mystery, and Merc’s latest teaser of the car doesn’t show anything revealing other than confirming speculation that the concept will be heavily based on Mercedes’ 1930’s racing design.
Mercedes-AMG Aesthetics Progressive Luxury aka Electric Silver Arrow to Debut at Pebble Beach
Mercedes is cooking up quite the presence at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, one that will be highlighted by the debut of the Aesthetics Progressive Luxury Concept. The streamlined prototype reveals little at this point, but the concept, which reportedly carries the in-house name, Electric Silver Arrow, is pegged as a halo model for the German automaker’s newly created EQ electric brand.
Watch the Mercedes EQA Cruise Through Sicily - Video
The Mercedes Concept EQA is shaping up to be one of Mercedes’ most important models in its recent history. Not only is it acting as the foundation of the German automaker’s all-electric onslaught, but it’s also turning into the leading man on Merc’s EQ-related promotional content.
The latest example of the Concept EQA’s star power can be seen in this new commercial featuring the absolutely stunning concept vehicle on a nice joy ride along picturesque Sicily. The ad doesn’t really tell us anything about the Concept EQA other than the fact that it looks amazing with all those carefully placed light signatures throughout its body. When they’re all lit, the concept takes an entirely new look that’s an absolute feast to the eyes. Mercedes even calls the ones located on the EQA’s flanks “illuminated arabesques,” which sounds like a phrase the company cooked up but is no less awesome to digest.
Beyond its gorgeous looks, the EQA’s role as a precursor to Mercedes’ full-fledged all-electric lineup is well-established. It may take the form of a hatchback, but it does give us a good look at what we can expect out of the German automaker’s future EQ lineup. The concept, among other things, gets batteries of various outputs, powering a motor in the front and back with as much as 200 kilowatts of power on tap. That gives the concept as much as 368 pound-feet of torque and the ability to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under five seconds to go with a range of 250 miles.
There’s a lot to be excited about as far as the Mercedes’ EQ family is concerned. That should be the case because Daimler is spending almost $600 million to get its Smart production facility up-to-speed with the requirements needed to build the production versions of its all-electric EQ lineup, beginning with the EQC electric crossover, the EQA, and the rest of Mercedes’ future electric lineup.
But before any of that, enjoy the Mercedes Concept EQA going out and about in one of the most beautiful places in Italy. If that doesn’t get you excited about the possibilities, I don’t know what will.
Peisert Design Rendered the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV as it was Meant to Be
Okay, I don’t know what the guys over at Mercedes were smoking when the greenlit the design of the Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV (Not that it’s an SUV, really) but just like everyone else in the world we’re not to keen on the overall design. In fairness, the front end isn’t bad, but the overall shape is about as ugly as they come. Well, Peisert design was a bit disappointed too, and that’s exactly why you’re looking at the rendering here. Peisert Design too the new Maybach and reshaped the rear end to make it look like a true-to-life SUV. And, it looks amazing.
In the end, Mercedes should take some notes from the rendering here. After seeing all the horrible comments all over the internet about the new Ultimate Luxury “SUV,” it really makes you wonder how things are going over there at headquarters. Either way, feast your eyes on what the Ultimate Luxury SUV should have been, then try to forget that it doesn’t exist in this form.
Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Comes with a Teapot, Quirky Design
Mercedes’ highly-anticipated Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept just made its debut ahead of the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, and it looks, well... weird. Believed to preview the Maybach version of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Ultimate Luxury concept combines the styling features of an SUV with those of a notchback sedan. Mercedes says that it combines the most successful body styles in China, but it’s definitely not the best design exercise out there.
You’ve Already Seen the Leaked Images but Here’s Another Teaser of the Hideous Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury
Leaked photos of the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV spoiled the surprise for a lot of us. But in some ways, we’re actually glad those photos leaked because they would’ve spared us from catastrophic disappointment. The Ultimate Luxury SUV is a sight for sore eyes, and that’s maybe putting it lightly. That hasn’t stopped Mercedes-Maybach, though, from rolling out another teaser of the luxury SUV. Guess it didn’t get the memo that the photos have already been leaked.
The Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV Is So Ugly It Actually Hurts
We’ve seen some pretty slick-looking concepts from Mercedes-Maybach in the past - the Vision 6 and Vision 6 Cabriolet certainly come to mind quite easily. However, this latest creation, dubbed the Ultimate Luxury concept and leaked prior to a full debut at the Beijing Motor Show, is making our collective stomachs churn.

The Mercedes-Maybach Concept SUV Will Be Able to Offer You Some Tea
Mercedes-Maybach isn’t messing around in teasing the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury. For the second day in a row, we’re getting a good look at the Auto-Show-bound SUV concept and, while the teaser itself is short — it lasts all of 11 seconds — we get a clearer picture of the concept’s interior, including a tea set that can be accessed through a compartment on the center tunnel.
Official Sketch Is an Interior Preview of the Beijing-Bound SUV from Mercedes-Maybach
Bentley and Rolls-Royce better start looking over their shoulders. Another luxury brand is looking to get a piece of the super luxury SUV market. That brand would be Mercedes-Maybach, Daimler’s high-class sub-brand. In a surprising move, Mercedes-Maybach is bringing a concept SUV to the Beijing Auto Show later this month. We don’t know much about it, but a new teaser sketch of the concept’s interior has been released, and it looks fancy.
Get Ready, Mercedes-Maybach Has Prepared Another Ultra-Luxurious Concept for the Beijing Motor Show
While it no longer functions as a stand-alone brand since it’s revival as Mercedes-Maybach, the German luxury marque has made a habit of launching at least one exotic concept car per year. Last year it was a sleek pair of
door models. In 2018, Maybach is kicking things off at the Beijing Motor Show later this month with yet another opulent concept car. Previewed by a 30-second teaser video called "Luxury at its finest," the new vehicle seems to be the fanciest Maybach to date.
Pops’ Rants: Lazy Car Design Auto Show Edition
Oh wow, the 2018 Geneva Motor Show was so much fun. So many concept cars that won’t make it into production, so many supercars that we can’t buy. Scratch that, and we’re left with the Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 508, Volvo V60, Toyota Yaris, and some special-edition models that aren’t all that special. Oh wait, this year’s show was also about quite a few good examples of laziness in the design department. Nissan takes the cake with two different cars, but Mercedes-Benz also made the list with its latest performance car.
