AMG Still Sees A Future For Its V-8 Engine, Despite All Evidence to the Contrary
Over the coming decade, several automakers have already pledged to transition to electric vehicles. As the industry now makes this shift to EV’s, Mercedes Benz is also taking a forward-thinking approach.
With the German automaker set to become an electric-only marque by 2030, the company has already halted the development of new combustion engines in order to devote more resources towards the shift to electrification.
The Mercedes EQS Has a Steep Starting Price and up to 516 Horsepower
2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB
Mercedes had unveiled the EQB back at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year, but it brought it to Munich and displayed it at the IAA Mobility Show as well. The EQB is the second model after the EQA and will be offered as a five-seater with an option to equip the third row. It is loaded to the gills in terms of features and will be offered in two trims Stateside – the EQB 300 and the EQB 350. The crossover is expected to arrive in 2022 as a 2023 model.
2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE
Mercedes-Benz was quite active at the 2021 IAA Mobility Show. It came up with five vehicles there, which included the AMG EQS, the EQG Concept, the EQB crossover, and the Maybach EQS SUV. Among this lot was also the EQE, an E-Class-based electric sedan. This baby EQS is loaded to the gills and seems like a sweet package at the onset. The only fly in the ointment is the availability of the single-motor setup, to begin with, but a dual-motor setup EQE and an AMG EQE will arrive in the future.
2022 Mercedes EQG Concept
Mercedes went on an electrification spree at the 2021 IAA Mobility Show in Munich, Germany. One of the cars unveiled here was the EQG, the EQ electric equivalent of the legendary G-Class SUV, or more popularly known as the G-Wagen. The off-roader is one of the most iconic models ever built and is still going strong despite its boxy and old-school demeanor. In fact, that is the one thing that’s still attracting purists.
The company showcased the EQG Concept that follows a similar path, but with a lot of new tech. This is said to be a near-production concept, so we can expect the real deal to be revealed by next year, perhaps.
2023 Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the EQS earlier this year. This electric S-Class equivalent came with a whole lot of impressive specs and features that put it right on top of the EQ hierarchy. To elevate it to the next level, the German automaker introduced the AMG variant of the EQS called the EQS 53 4MATIC+ that comes with a lot more power and a few other mechanical upgrades. While it’s still not Tesla Model S Plaid-level performance, specs like 750+ horses will surely pull a lot of potential customers.

Mercedes-Benz Teases The EQE Ahead Of Its Reveal Next Week
It’s not even been six months since Mercedes announced the EQS sedan, but it is already gearing up for its next EV, the EQE, that’s all set to debut at the upcoming IAA in Munich. The automaker teased the EQE on its Instagram page and it could be the EV that brings in volume for the company. Not a lot could be deciphered in this teaser, but we are excited to see what’s in the store for Mercedes.

Mercedes’ Plans Have Reportedly Changed and It’s A Very Big Deal
In 2021, we’ve seen automakers really start to push their electrification efforts to the next level, but Mercedes has been hesitant to even commit to a full-scale electrification date. It has continued to push its electrification strategy, though, with cars like the EQB EV and the EQS flagship EV sedan, for example. More recently, Mercedes-AMG confirmed that it’s working on a Performance EV, which we assume will be a beefed up version of the EQS. A new report says that Mercedes is accelerating efforts in electrification, and that could mean the death of certain cars with internal combustion engines.
Mercedes-AMG Teases Its Future By Looking to Its Past In Style
There’s no denying that electrification is inevitable, and Mercedes as a company has already embraced that concept. Recent evidence includes the new Mercedes C-Class that will only be sold as a four-cylinder, mild-hybrid, including the range-topping AMG C63E, of all things. More recently, AMG has confirmed that it’s working on a high-performance EV while Mercedes as a company has said that it will let the ICE live on until it dies a natural death. Now, Mercedes has released a short video to remind us that it’s been in the EV game for a lot longer, with the star of the video being none other than the Mercedes SLS Electric Drive.
