Yeah, the SLK250 isn’t quite an SLS AMG, but it’s still a damn-fine car with plenty of pop. Its 201-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-pot is enough to keep us all happy and Mercedes is doing its best to make one lucky person even happier with an SLK250 – for 13 months at least.
Mercedes-Benz is running a contest through its Facebook page that allows you to win a 13-month lease on this sharp-looking drop-top. All you have to do to enter is head over at the contest link and submit a photo of what your Mercedes-Benz summer would look like. No, it doesn’t have to include you driving a Benz, it can be you with “Mercedes-Benz” written in the sand.
You’re allowed to submit a photo every day until the contest is over. The contest ends on September 10th at 11:59 a.m. EST (one minute before noon for those that have issues with the 12 a.m. or p.m. deal). The winner will be picked on or around September 20th and will be notified via telephone, email, and U.S. mail. In addition to the car, Mercedes-Benz is kind enough to give you an additional $7,500 to offset the taxes you have to pay on the car – so thoughtful of them.
Now the bad part... Just like any lease, you are limited to a total of only 15,000 miles per year. So no cruising the beach all day and night trying to pawn this Mercedes off as yours, only to have your lie exposed just a year later when you pick up your new fiance in your 1975 GMC K1500... Not like you’d do that, right??
Anyways, head on over to Mercedes’ Facebook page and submit a picture to have the opportunity to borrow an SLK 250 for 13 months.
Click past the jump to check out all of the rules.
What can we say, we love free stuff! Mercedes is getting in on the giveaway fun now by offering a trip to the acclaimed AMG Driving Academy in Fontana, California. All you have to do is head over to Mercedes’ Facebook page – yes, it’s always Facebook – “Like” the sweepstakes photo, and then fill out an entry form.
According to the rules, you and a friend will attend the “Basic Training” session, which lasts just a day. This session covers all of the basic skills needed to race or just drive in normal, everyday situations. It teaches you how to handle oversteer and understeer, slalom courses, lane changing, braking and collision avoidance, and you get to ride with a professional driver.
In addition to the driving school, you get a coach-class flight for two people, a two-night stay in a “standard” hotel with double occupancy, and transportation between the hotel, airport, and Driving Academy. What’s really cool is that Mercedes is also giving you an extra $3,271.21 to help offset the taxes you will incur by winning this grand prize.
The dates for the trip are October 26th through 28th, so mark those days on the calendar, and the big drawing is on or around July 16th.
So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to drive like the big boys, you can get an entry-level lesson on Mercedes’ dime, while whipping around a corporate-provided luxury racecar. We have a sneaking suspicion that the car you get to learn in is not a C63 AMG, but it’ll be a blast either way.
