Battle of the Mercedes-AMG SUVs: Watch The V-12 G65 Take On The V-8 G63 On A Drag Strip

We finally get to see the V-8 AMG G63 take on the V-12 G65 in straight-line races

The Mercedes-AMG G63 is quite popular, but the G65, not so much. The automaker discontinued it in 2018, but offered 65 examples as part of the farewell ‘Final Edition’ before drawing the curtains on it. The folks at ArabGT managed to lay their hands on one of these 65 examples and pit it against the G63 Edition 1. Well, this is probably one battle that every G-Class enthusiast has always wanted. Do you think the G65, with its mighty 12-pot mill, can beat the eight-cylinder G63?

Mercedes has refreshed its AMG-spec GT 4-Door Coupé for the 2022 model year. It comes with a few nips and tucks on the inside and out, while the engine outputs are carried over as it is. But, there are some other new additions under the skin. The V-8 models now feature an adaptive suspension setup, active rear-axle steering, and heated steering wheel. The automaker has even introduced a new MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Edition package for the mid- GT 53 trim that features a new exterior shade.

Mercedes' Plans Have Reportedly Changed and It's A Very Big Deal

Mercedes’ Plans Have Reportedly Changed and It’s A Very Big Deal

Mercedes could be accelerating its electrification efforts and killing of ICE models much faster than previously anticipated

In 2021, we’ve seen automakers really start to push their electrification efforts to the next level, but Mercedes has been hesitant to even commit to a full-scale electrification date. It has continued to push its electrification strategy, though, with cars like the EQB EV and the EQS flagship EV sedan, for example. More recently, Mercedes-AMG confirmed that it’s working on a Performance EV, which we assume will be a beefed up version of the EQS. A new report says that Mercedes is accelerating efforts in electrification, and that could mean the death of certain cars with internal combustion engines.

2021 Mercedes-AMG G63 900 Rocket Edition by Brabus

2021 Mercedes-AMG G63 900 Rocket Edition by Brabus

The G63 Rocket Edition by Brabus comes with carbon fiber components, almost 900 horses under the hood, sub-four-second 0-60 mph time, and costs over $500,000

Brabus products are some of the most expensive aftermarket builds that you can buy today. If you can get anything south of half-a-million dollars, then it’s a bargain. The company specializes in Mercedes products and has created tens of iterations of its popular models in the past. But, one product that Brabus can’t get enough of is the G-Class. In all fairness, no one can get enough of it. So, can’t really blame Brabus here.

Anyway, the German tuner has come up with yet another G63 build, called the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition. It comes with an exclusive exterior shade, carbon fiber components on the exterior, and power boosts that make this boxy SUV sprint to 62 mph in under four seconds. How about that!

2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e PHEV

The luxurious sedan is coming with a plug-in hybrid option that could make over 700 horses!

When Mercedes comes up with new models, the thing that gets our hearts racing more than the product itself is the fact that AMG would’ve started working on a higher-performance version of the same. This time, it’s the Mercedes-AMG S63 with an electric twist. The super sedan was spotted with camouflage performing cold-weather tests in Sweden recently. The biggest twist here is that it is a plug-in hybrid version, which means it will be more fuel-efficient and environment-conscious, and quite sprightly in terms of performance.

Can a 2010 Mercedes-AMG E63 Beat The 2021 AMG E63 S On A Drag Strip?

Can a 2010 Mercedes-AMG E63 Beat The 2021 AMG E63 S On A Drag Strip?

The new E63 S comes with twin turbos and an all-wheel-drive system, unlike its ancestor

The Mercedes E-Class is an executive sedan and is offered in many different trims. The automaker’s performance arm, AMG, took it under its wings many years back and has been tuning it to make it one hell of a rocket on the tarmac. While the latest fifth-gen AMG E63 S comes with a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8, the 2010 model lived by the principle ‘no replacement for displacement’. It featured a naturally aspirated V-8 that displaces at 6.2 liters. Purists prefer the free-revving N/A engine over turbos any day, but in this case, can it hold a candle against an 11-year newer model?

The folks at Throttle House decided to see how they go up against each other on a drag strip. Who are you rooting for?

Check Out The New Mercedes AMG SL Testing At the Nurburgring

The AMG-developed 2022 Mercedes AMG SL is getting closer to production

The 2022 Mercedes AMG SL is getting closer to production. We first saw the AMG version of the next SL-Class in January when, once again,it was spotted doing cold-weather tests. This time, the exact same car from January was caught on the Nurburgring with the same amount of camouflage. This indicates that Mercedes will probably not show us more than that until the SL’s debut.

Do You Think The CLA 45 Is Any Match For The Super-Hatch A45 On A Drag Strip?

The AMG A45 and the CLA45 take on each other in a series of rolling and drag races

The AMG A45 has changed the way people look at hot hatches. In fact,it might have created a whole new super hatch segment altogether. The A45 has proven its worth against the other hot hatches, but how does it fare against its own sibling, the CLA 45? Carwow pitted both these cars on a race track to see who would win. But, wait: there’s a twist. The CLA 45 is not stock. It makes 70 horses more than the AMG A45, but also much heavier. Who do you think will win?

Mercedes Isn't Afraid Of Electrification But Won't Ride The Hype Either

Mercedes Isn’t Afraid Of Electrification But Won’t Ride The Hype Either

Mercedes won’t give up on the internal combustion engine until it succumbs to a natural death

Mercedes’ lineup of electric cars has ben growing a lot, with the lineup now including models like the EQA, EQB, EQC, and the recently revealed EQS flagship, and that doesn’t include mild-hybrid cars like the new Mercedes C-Class, which will only be offered with four-cylinder engines, That’s an example of engine downsizing and hybridization to meet emissions regulations, but from the outside I think we can all agree that it appears as if Mercedes is really grasping the concept of electrification. It may be, to some extent, but now we know it’s not giving up the internal combustion engine anytime soon.
