The Mercedes-AMG SL 43 Will Carry A Four-Pot Heart
Mercedes-AMG revealed the new SL Roadster back in October 2021 with typical AMG styling and a brutal V-8 engine that’s good for 577 horsepower in the SL 63 or 469 horsepower in the SL 55. Since then, we’ve discussed its unique interior, certain things that make it truly unique, and how there will be a new AMG GT Coupe sitting next to it in the AMG stable. What we didn’t know, however, was that there will be a new entry-level version, dubbed the SL 43, but whether or not it will live up to the AMG badge has been called into question.
2023 Mercedes-AMG A45
It looks like 2022 will bring a facelift version for pretty much every model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, and the A-Class is no exception. The facelift A-Class was caught testing for the first time back in December 2021 and it was shortly followed by the facelift version of the AMG A35.
Now, it is the AMG A45’s turn to go out for a testing session in the snow of Scandinavia.
If 577 Horses In The New AMG SL Aren’t Enough, Manhart’s Got You Covered
The newly-unveiled Mercedes-AMG SL is the first generation of the nameplate that’s developed by the folks at AMG themselves. This new model is also the first to come only with an all-wheel-drive system (AWD). Because this is developed by AMG from the ground up, it only features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 in two states of tune, and yet, Manhart thinks that it deserves a third state of tune, wherein it will produce 800 horsepower. Is it enough now?

New Spy Photos prove the Mercedes-AMG C43 Will Be Revealed Soon
The Mercedes-AMG C43 – the entry-level AMG C-class – has been spotted yet again on public roads, but this time, it has shed almost all of its camo. This time around, only the front and rear fascia have been covered, but even with that, you can make out just about everything since all of the preliminary and concealing camo is gone. With so little camo, we can say with almost no doubt that Mercedes will be revealing it soon, maybe even before the end of 2021.
First off, let me point out that we know this is the AMG C43 based on the lower ride height and the larger yet fake air vents. That lower ride height comes courtesy of an even stiffer suspension, and there are true quad exhaust outlet sin the rear to go with the larger brakes and the lip spoiler on the rear decklid.
The real kicker here is that the C-Class lineup is ditching all large engines, with a turbocharged and hybridized four-cylinder being the only offering. In this case, the entry-level AMG will be losing the twin-turbo 3.0-liter engine and gaining a 2.0-liter. It’s the same M139 four-banger that’s found in the AMG A45 S, and in that model it’s good for 416 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque – an improvement of 31 horsepower over the outgoing model with a V-6 but a bit down on torque. This power output could change for the C43 (or perhaps C53 if a certain rumor is correct).
The good news is that we won’t have to wait for long as a debut could happen very soon with March of 2022 being the latest we’ll see it.
Manhart lets Mercedes’ C63 AMG V-8 wagon go out with a bang
With the demise of the internal combustion engine seemingly getting closer and closer, car tuners have been having a field day making fast, dead-dinosaur-burning cars even faster. Mercedes has even confirmed that the next generation of AMGs will be powered by a four-cylinder married to an electric motor to create a hybrid system. In an AMG. Anyway, German tuning company Manhart is the latest group of geniuses to take an already unnecessarily powerful car and make it even more powerful.
