The AMG one and GT 63 S Share More DNA Than You Think
The Mercedes AMG Project One was first unveiled about four years ago and has been in development at least to some degree ever since. We knew it would take a while to get the 1,000 horsepower 1.6-liter turbo hybrid V-6 Formula 1 powertrain to play well on the road, but it has been a long wait. However, with the development stage being replaced with the production stage we are starting to see just how much of the Project One is being carried over to more conventional models.
10 Road-Legal Cars Powered By F1 Engines
The term “race car for the road” has been abused quite thoroughly by marketers wanting to make certain cars more appealing to car enthusiasts. With that said, few things scream “race car for the road” as loud as a Formula One engine, and these 10 cars are motivated by engines based on, or developed for Formula One racing.
US Regulations Create A Roadblock for the AMG One Supercar
When it comes to cars banned in the U.S., the list is very long and includes a lot of cool cars like the Jaguar XJ220-S or the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-spec. Even more recent cars, like the McLaren Speedtail or the Koenigsegg One:1 are on the same list. And this is because National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has very strict criteria to determine which car is safe to be offered in the States. And when we say safe, we mean safe for the passengers, for the other drivers on the road, for the environment, and for the economy itself.
Another car that has been hit by these strict regulations is the recently-launched Mercedes-AMG One.
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG One is a 219-MPH Rocket with F1 Tech
It’s been a little over five years since Mercedes went crazy and promised to shove a Formula 1 engine into a street legal road car. That day has finally come, and sure enough, the AMG One lives up to the hype with a hybridized F1 engine for a heart and a total system output of 1,049 horsepower, all of which is 100-percent road legal. Somehow, despite the fact that the AMG One probably shouldn’t have ever happened, AMG pulled it off. Here’s what we know about it so far.
The Mercedes-AMG One Hypercar Probably Shouldn’t Have Happened
As far as high-performance cars go, the Mercedes-AMG One is one of the most impressive technological feats of our time. Unfortunately, it’s for that very reason that Mercedes management now regrets indulging in the ambitious project. While putting an F1 powertrain into a road-going car sounds great and it has been done in the past, apparently, Mercedes management did not account for all the challenges caused by adapting a racing engine for road use.
At $142 Million, The Mercedes "Silver Arrow" Could Be The Most Expensive Classic Car In the World
It is a well-established fact that for the longest time, the highly coveted title of the world’s most expensive car was held by a 1964 Tour de France winning Ferrari 250 GTO which fetched $70 million at a private auction. But, all this while, the 1955 Mercedes 300SLR, which currently is a part of Mercedes’s heritage fleet, was valued at over $100 million. However, it was never active in the running for the title of the world’s most expensive car because nobody would have put their money on Mercedes parting ways with the car that not only cemented the auto marque’s reputation for quality and craftsmanship, but even birthed the German automaker’s racing endeavors in the post-war era.
Mercedes-Benz C112 - An Abandoned Technological Miracle
The long history of Mercedes-Benz spawned plenty of amazing projects, many of which resulted in some of the greatest road-going and racing vehicles, we have ever seen. You only need to look at cars like the 300SL, 300SLR, CLK GTR, SLR McLaren, and others. There are, however, many cars that never saw the light of day. Among the most obscure projects to come out from Mercedes-Benz’s test facilities is the 1991 Mercedes C112. It had the potential to be the most ground-breaking sports car of the 1990s, but sadly, Mercedes decided not to make it.

Brabus is known for its mighty powerful builds. They are unlike any other aftermarket companies and tuners, and are one of the most expensive ones out there. On paper, it is the most powerful of the lot. But, was it the same in the real world as well?

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Drag Races A Lamborghini Huracan STO – Who Do You Think Will Win?
Tim Burton from ‘Shmee150’, popularly known as Shmee, brought two of his track machines to an airstrip for a few drag races. First up was the Lamborghini Huracan STO that featured a naturally aspirated V-10, and the other was the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series powered by a 4.0-liter, forced-induction V-8. Both these cars are quick runners, but which one do you think will win?
After 5 Years, the Mercedes-AMG One Finally Goes Into Production
It’s been a little over four years since Mercedes and AMG first revealed the Project One – a daring hypercar whose goal was to blend F1 performance and technology with the simple phrase “road capable.” As easy as that sounds, there’s a reason we’ve had to wait so long for the original Project One to become a reality – it wasn’t so easy after all. For six months after its unveiling, Mercedes was balls to the wall when it came to sharing insight about development and goals, even claiming that the One was going to be the fastest car to ever grace the Nürburgring. But, this is where fairy tales become nightmares, and both Mercedes and AMG finally got a taste of just how hard it is to build a true F1 car for the road.

This Mercedes SLR McLaren by MSO is Rare, but Is it Worth Bugatti Chiron Money?
Built between 2003 and 2009, the Mercedes SLR McLaren was a modern-day tribute to the 1950s 300 SLR. The super Gran tourer preceded AMG’s SLS and GT models, both inspired by the 300 SL. Throughout its production cycle, there were some limited edition versions, such as the 722 Edition. There was also a race-prepped version of that, which you could buy. There is, however, a much rarer version of the Mercedes SLR McLaren, which was presented in a “Seen through Glass” video. It was developed by MSO (McLaren Special Operations) and now, one of the 25 made is for sale.
Ultra Rare Street Legal AMG CLK GTR to go Under the Hammer at Pebble Beach
If you’ve ever wanted to own a road-legal race car, well here is your chance, provided you’ve got some deep pockets that is. Real deep. The CLK GTR is a road-going race car that Mercedes-Benz produced in the late 90s to comply with racing regulations that required them to make a set number of road-going variants. Only 25 were built, with 20 being coupes and 5 being roadsters. This particular example was number nine of those 25. Also, aside from the name, the CLK GTR had nothing in common with the CLK of the time.
The Mercedes-AMG Project One Hypercar Straight Up Sounds Like An F1 Car For The Road
Despite the supercar world being as diverse as ever, one car has been talked about a lot, in recent times. The Formula One-inspired Mercedes AMG Project One was announced back in 2017. Since then, there has been a lot of hype around the car and its performance capabilities. Mercedes has certainly managed to keep up the hype, as we continue getting spy footage and videos of the German Formula One-inspired supercar.
Mercedes-AMG Project One caught in production shape
The highly-anticipated Mercedes AMG Project One seems to be ready for production. At least, that’s what the latest footage shows, anyway. AMG’s hybrid supercar has been a regular “guest” at the Nurburgring, but this time, the camouflage is off, revealing every detail of its exterior. The only “camouflage” we see here is the motorsport-inspired wrap, but other than that, this is how the production cars will look like once they reach their customers.
Meet an Ultra-Rare SLR McLaren
The Mercedes SLR McLaren started out as Vision SLR concept, unveiled at the 1999 North American International Car Show. The goal was to showcase what Mercedes had learned from their F1 engine supplier, McLaren. Then, they decided to put the car into production. Between 2003 and 2009, 2,157 cars were made in total. Over the years, a couple of special versions appeared, such as the 722 and Stirling Moss. The YouTube channel “Seen through Glass” is showing us another one, even more exclusive than the others.
