We have a confession to make. The first time we saw the Mini Paceman Adventure, we thought it was a belated April Fool's joke. But shame on us because the car is the real deal. It's a one-off model that Mini->ke57 has no plans of producing, but still, it's the real deal. Based on the MINI Cooper S Paceman ALL4 with 184 horsepower, the Paceman Adventure was born from a creative collaboration between young apprentices and their instructors at the BMW->ke178 plants in Munich and Dingolfing. The students were most responsible for the creation of the unique Paceman Adventure, and as part of their idea, the students thought of turning the Paceman into a two-seat vehicle with a pickup->ke242-style appearance. Sure, it looks a little wonky and takes some getting used to, but you have to give some credit to these students for thinking out of the box.

If the Paceman Adventure proves anything other than the seemingly obvious belief that Mini still has some weird genius traits, it's that the company is helping foster that kind of mentality among its future designers.

It's actually a good thing because as we've come to know about Mini over the years, you can never have enough of these creative types in your team.

MINI Paceman Adventure in detail

The MINI Paceman Adventure still carries some typical Mini design elements like the short overhangs and the unmistakable Mini front section. But it also as a modified chassis with extended ground clearance and much higher front and rear clearance ramps. Notice also the snorkel-like roof level air intake. That was specifically put in to allow the Paceman Adventure to tackle rough roads and river crossings without ruining its mechanical specifications.

In order for the Mini Paceman to be a true off-road warrior, the one-off concept was also given additional lights mounted on the front cross-member of the roof rack, allowing it to create more visibility during those night excursions off the beaten path.

The interior is also completely different from a standard Paceman, largely because it only has two seats. The passenger compartment ends behind the front seats. From there, a spacious cargo area for luggage, tools and equipment has been installed, adding to its pickup-like characteristics.
