The Evo-loving world was in shambles after Mitsubishi Global Product Director, Gayu Eusegi, announced that the company would be killing off the all-wheel-drive turbocharged Lancer Evolution. The Evo is one of the best models Mitsubishi has ever offered and fans everywhere were shocked that the company would take such extreme measures. A few back pedals later and Mitsubishi President and CEO, Osamu Masuko, calmed the waters by stating that the the Evo X would not be the last of the Evolutions. Now, Masuko has offered even more details for the future of the Evo to Japanese magazine, Best Car, stating that "Mitsubishi is fully intent on producing a high-performance car in the future, albeit green." Yeah, join the club, Masuko.

The rumor has long been that the Evo XI would be a diesel-electric hybrid. Such a powertrain would allow the Evo XI to hustle to 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds while still receiving better fuel economy than the current Evo. Now, it seems the technology that was unveiled in the PX-MiEV concept at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show is looking to fit itself into the EVO XI. This would mean a 1.6- liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motor that will take its power from a set of lithium-ion batteries. The electric motors will power the vehicle at low to middle speeds, while the engine will kick on at high speeds. The engine will also provide back up for the motors when their charge runs low. The hybrid system will be combined with Mitsubishi’s S-AWC all-wheel-drive system and active yaw control, technologies that have already been used in the Evo X.

Lancer is truly an amazing car. For me, it is simple but very impressive. I am excited that they will be turning this vehicle into a diesel-electric hybrid.

Well, whatever you guys say, this one still an Evo, those cars are simply amazing no matter how you look at it. As for the idea of being green, well let’s just see about that.

I wonder if this one would live up to the Evo name. The looks definitely fits in well with the brand, but I don’t thin that the hybrid power will live up to fan’s expectations.

The evolution of this Mitsubishi Lancer is really impressive and I still love the unique platform design of this evolution. Just like them, I can’t wait for the market production of this.

Evolution means it is already evolving into an electric car? Anyway, I must say that Lancer still looks great and impressive with its simplicity, and I will surely wait for an update news about it.

Lancer is truly a very attractive vehicle, but I just don’t really don’t like the fact that this one is one of the unreliable cars that they were insisting to produce.

I love the fact that the rumors about this evolution XI was really true, and even if it is in the matte color or not I would still love it and despite of still having a simple platform, it was still very appealing.

Is it in a matte color? Anyway, I also love the simplicity that this lancer sedan car had and yes, it was already looking great and fabulous on its color, but I wonder if what will be the figure performance of this?

I’m impressed with this Lancer Evolution XI even though it only had a simple platform design, I noticed that it was oozing with car appeal, but I wonder if what will be the interior of it will look like.

Technical performance this car has a good specification. Engine details of its electric motor seems to a good combination, creating hybrid type of card. Although it is not much appealing car.

Not everyone would like this, me I’m just a sort off thought it the car have it takes to proved its total performance. However I’ll give credit to its wheel.

Lancer really had the awesome looks and sporty appearance, and I’m so impressed with its powerful engine, and the front headlights is so cool.

I like the interior of the car, but I much prefer if they other color to choose. Red is not bad but, it was too common for a car.

Lots of people all over the world is dying to have this car. The technology used to come up with this one of a kind design is truly amazing.

Lancer Evolution already has the best look despite of having a simple platform design and styling. Inject is right, that it didn’t need lots of styling cos its already fabulous.

Lancer Evo is really stunning though the platform is so simple. This car didn’t need lots of styling to make an awesome car. It is already one of the best on its color and sleek body paint, but I’m just wondering on the other specs of it.

The evo truly is mitsubishi best car and this new one appears to be the best one yet.

  (472) posted on 09.9.2011

Well, its already looking on its color and I must agree on what kevin010 said. It seems that this is the best car that Mitsubishi have. I just only hope that the 1.5 gasoline engine would be enough powerful and remarkable for it.

i think the lancer is one of mitsubishi’s best cars(especially the evo).. and that new pic of the reddish or.. fucsia? exo XI looks great smiley if it reaches production, it would be an improvement to the already great design of the current evo.
