2020 Mitsubishi Super Height K-Wagon Concept
The 2020 Mitsubishi Super Height K-Wagon is a concept car that the Japanese firm unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. The show car previews Mitsubishi’s next generation of Kei wagons, most likely a replacement for the eK model sold on the Japanese market. The 2020 Super Height K-Wagon is a typical Kei wagon, featuring a boxy, tall body and bold styling features typical to these Japan-specific vehicles.
2020 Mitsubishi Mi-Tech Concept
One could argue that Mitsubishi is King of ridiculous concepts with at least one showing up to every auto show, and the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show is no different as Mitsubishi has introduced the Mi-Tech Concept. This concept is a futuristic take on the Dune Buggy (will we even have these in the future?) with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that’s paired with, I kid you not, a gas turbine engine. Now we know what those weird fans that we saw in the teasers are for. It also represents a new take on Mitsubishi’s grille design and, while it does look ridiculous in some respects, it’s not all fantasy and dreams. It was just a couple of weeks ago that Mitsubishi published that weird teaser of a new EV SUV concept for the 2019 Tokyo Motor show. You know, the teaser with four weird fans (we assume) on the rear? Now, Mitsubishi has released another teaser that was pretty dark, but we managed to light it up with a little bit of photoshop work. What we’ve found, however, leaves us wondering just what point Mitsubishi is trying to make here – this thing is clearly not set for production, and we’re not sure if it serves a real purpose at all outside of just being weird. Here’s a closer look at the brightened photo….
What In the Name of Weird and Pointless Concepts Is Mitsubishi Planning for the Tokyo Motor Show?
Mitsubishi is no stranger to swinging for the fences with its concept vehicles. Perhaps it comes with being a middling automaker that’s looking to attract as much attention as it possibly can. Or maybe Mitsubishi’s designers decided to lock themselves in a hotbox as they giggled their way into creating the company’s latest concept vehicle.
Either way, the automaker’s newest concept offering — it predictably doesn’t have a name yet — is one or the other, maybe even a combination of both. It’s a concept PHEV SUV, which is all Mitsubishi’s telling us. It also attached a teaser image of the concept, specifically showing four circular objects whose primary — and secondary, I suppose — purpose still escapes us.
That’s all that Mitsubishi is willing to divulge so we should be in for a few surprises when the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show opens its doors next month. Let’s just hope that those four circular things have a collective purpose beyond looking like the mouth of a mutated Venus Fly Trap.
2017 Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept
The Tokyo Motor Show is nearly upon us, which means we’re preparing for a barrage of wild concepts and cool sci-fi weirdness. Mitsubishi is already getting on the action, unveiling its new e-Evolution a few weeks ahead of the big sheet pull. The design study is framed as a preview of forthcoming technology and exterior styling from the automaker, and includes a focus on all-electric propulsion mated with an AWD SUV body style. The e-Evolution also gets a few interesting driver assistance technologies, like an onboard AI that customizes various onboard systems to your preferences and will even coach you on how to be a better driver. The e-Evolution is just one of 12 vehicles Mitsubishi is bringing to the show, so we’ll have to see what else will make an appearance, but so far, the e-Evolution is one of the more ambitious concepts we’ve seen from Mitsu in a while.
Of course, we have to address the elephant in the room – the repurposed Evolution nameplate. Just last year, Mitsu killed off the Lancer Evo, the iconic rally-bred sedan that churned major terra in the WRC. Purists will undoubtedly balk at the thought of an all-electric, AI-infused SUV carrying the torch lit by that four-door monster, and rightfully so, but either way, it looks like change is inevitable here. Mitsubishi isn’t doing all that great in the U.S., currently offering only five vehicles in its lineup. Though the Outlander is doing well, the Lancer is on its way out, and both the i-MiEV and the Mirage are far from being big sellers in their respective segments. Meanwhile, the Japanese keep building concept cars that promise to revive the Mitsubishi brand. One such concept is the eX, which is scheduled to make its public debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
Featuring a bold design and exterior dimensions that would place it in the same niche as the Nissan Juke, the eX boasts an all-electric drivetrain and semi-autonomous technology, both of which will supposedly find their way into future production cars. Its design language is also said to inspire upcoming models, but there’s no actual schedule as to when that may happen.
Mitsubishi will likely tell us more at the Tokyo Motor Show, but what we do know for a fact is that the eX is a significant improvement over any EV the brand has launched until now. Keep reading to find out why.

A few weeks ago, Mitsubishi announced it will come to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show with three concept cars that preview the company’s future SUV lineup. The first of these three concepts is the Concept Cross Runner Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle, or simply the XR-PHEV. It previews a new crossover with coupe-like styling cues that will be placed under the current Outlander and will be put into production in the coming years.
According to the first details on we have this concept, it looks like it will use a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.1-liter, turbocharged MIVEC engine, which is a lightweight, compact and highly efficient engine with a high-capacity battery.
The concept will be equipped with the latest "e-Assist" active safety technologies and the advanced "connected car" technology that utilizes next-generation information systems that includes a danger detection system which activates the corresponding safety functions and a failure/malfunction early-detection system.

With so many automakers looking to break free from the dull and stale auto designs, a few brands have been left to collect everyone else’s dust.
Mitsubishi is one of those brands that appears to have been content with rolling out models with designs that left a lot to be desired. But the Japanese brand seems to be turning the corner — finally! — and for the first time in seemingly forever, it will roll out a trio of new concepts at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show next month.
Not a lot of details have been divulged about these concepts, other than the fact that the company is preparing all three as the first batches of its new "@earth" philosophy.
One is an SUV that’s been dubbed as the Concept Grand Cruiser Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle, or Concept GC-PHEV if you find the other name too long. This concept appears to be a future version of the Montero SUV, highlighted by a new front profile with aggressive edges and a new headlight setup that’s eerily similar to the Range Rover Evoque.
The next concept is called the Concept Cross Runner Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle, or XR-PHEV. Mitsubishi says that this concept will be introduced as a compact crossover with coupe-like styling cues, possibly taking the place of the current Outlander Sport in the coming years.
Finally, there’s the Concept Active Runabout, or Concept AR. In addition to being the simplest-named of the three concepts, the Concept AR is being touted as a compact MPV that, unlike the two others, will come with a conventional gasoline engine with turbocharging and direct-injection technologies.
Based on the teaser photos of the concepts, all three appear to be a far departure from what we’re used to when it comes to Mitsubishi. That’s a great thing because, if for nothing else, the Japanese brand’s move to the present is long overdue.

The Tokyo Motor Show is just around the corner - doors open in December - so it was high time that automakers started revealing their plans, including the over 20 world debuts scheduled. Mitsubishi is starting off its announcements with two new models that will be in attendance in Tokyo. One of them is a second version of the PX-MiEV Concept first unveiled back in 2009. This new concept takes Mitsubishi’s existing EV technology a step forward, delivering more environmental performance and better fuel efficiency than any existing SUV.
The PX-MiEV Concept II uses a unique plug-in hybrid system that combines a small 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine with EV technology derived from the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. This system allows the Concept PX-MiEV II to offer an impressive economy of more than 60 km/l (141 mpg) and a cruising range of over 800 km (497 miles).
The hybrid system takes its power from high-capacity batteries that allow the vehicle to cover over 50 km (31 miles) in all-electric mode alone. The driver has a button that allows him to change from Battery Drive Mode (for those residential areas) to pure EV more (for the countryside).

The diamon star automaker Mitsubishi presented their new Concept PX-MiEV and i-MiEV CARGO at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. The i-MiEV CARGO maximizes the outstanding environmental performance and economic efficiency characteristics that define the electric vehicle and, at the same time, adds a generous amount of rear free space.
On the other hand, the PX-MiEV, powered by the new Mitsubishi Plug-in Hybrid System, significantly improves the fuel economy in excess of 50 km/liter. This is mostly thanks to the concept’s 1.6 Liter inline four powerpack for the front wheels and a revolutionary auto volt plug in system. Similar to previous Pajero models, the PX-MiEV is capable of running on either front or all-wheel drive, only this time the CUV also has a hybrid mode plus a parallel hybrid system when the PX-MiEV is running on heavy. Mitsubishi also gave some of its Evolution X configurations to the PX-MiEV, including the S-AWC and E-AYC systems, which is capable of triggering power shuffling in any part of the car whenever the need arises.
Those of us who can’t wait for the Tokyo Motor Show to open its doors in a week’s time, here’s a video that can satiate our appetites for the time being.

As far as the car’s interior is concerned, Mitsubishi installed a bevy of technological features, including what looks like two touch-screen configurators found in the front and rear of the car. The PX-MiEV also comes with a revolutionary safety system that – by all accounts – should make its way to a number of Mitsubishi vehicles down the road. The system, which in all appearances looks just like a camera, warns the driver of any potential problems through visual or audio warnings, in addition, of course, to alerts of the vibrating persuasion.
The CUV is set to be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show where it is expected to be one of Mitsubishi’s meal tickets during the two-week event.

Even if the news is not official, the latest reports are saying that the Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi, has plans to unveil an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) at the Tokyo motor show at the end of October and into the beginning of the next month. The diamond star electric car will first be revealed as a concept followed by an all new production version that will be in dealerships by the end of 2010.
The new Mitsubishi EREV will be a compact crossover, similar in size to the Toyota RAV4 and will use a drive train similar to Chevrolet’s E-Flex platform on which the Volt is built with its 660 cc three cylinder gasoline engine acting exclusively as a generator that produces electricity to charge the EREV’s 21st century lithium-ion batteries.
The new Mitsubishi will not limit owners to around town commuting. Acting exclusively on electric power, and producing zero emissions, the EREV will have a range of 40 miles. However if you don’t mind polluting in the most efficient manner possible, you can travel up to 200 miles while using the generator to restore energy to the batteries.
The Concept-ZT showcases an advanced level of driving pleasure, safety and environmental responsibility — Mitsubishi Motor’s vehicle strategy — wrapped in a realistic package. Under the hood, a newly developed fuel-efficient, 2.2-liter clean diesel engine is mated to the new
Twin Clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission). Concept-ZT also features advanced active safety as well as passive safety technology, such as its pop-up hood.
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces today that it will launch the Lancer Evolution X high-performance 4WD sedan, newest of the company’s legendary vehicles, on October 1 at dealerships throughout Japan. Featuring a new platform, engine, and exterior and interior designs, the totally redesigned 2.0-liter model will carry a tax-inclusive price tag ranging from 2,997,750 to 3,750,600 yen. Models fitted with the Twin Clutch SST transmission are due to be launched towards the end of November.
Mitsubishi will unveil three concept cars at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show. Each car is a different expression of the three pillars of Mitsubishi Motor’s vehicle strategy: driving pleasure, reassuring safety and environmental responsibility. Held at Makuhari Messe, the 40th Tokyo Motor Show is open to the public from October 27 through November 11, with press and media days October 24, 25 and 26.
