The Nissan GT-R has been the subject of special edition models recently with the Track Edition and the Gentleman Edition making headlines in the past couple of months.

But Nissan apparently isn’t done rolling out the "special edition" carpet on Godzilla, as highlighted by the latest GT-R bearing that monicker.

This is the creatively named GT-R Special Edition, limited to only 100 units worldwide — 50 units in the U.S. — making it a real must-have for any GT-R aficionado anywhere.

So what makes this particular Nissan beast different from the others with the same designation? For starters, the name says it all. It carries an exclusive Midnight Opal body color that you’re not going to find anywhere else. Nissan says the finish on the surface "sparkles like a jewel" and the color changes depending on lighting conditions and viewing angle.

The model also features a dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler that enhances aerodynamic stability, a new set of highly rigid, lightweight forged-aluminum wheels that come with an eye-catching hyper-titanium coating, and a gold model number plate located within the engine compartment to emphasize its exclusivity.

You can pickup the GT-R Special Edition for $105,590, which is a $6,000 increase over the GT-R Premium. It will hit select Nissan dealers starting in September 2013.

Whichever way you slice it, the Nissan GT-R Special Edition deserves that distinction. And then some.

The GT-R Track Edition distinguishes itself from all other GT-Rs with the updates made to the suspension, the addition of new fuel injectors and an oil pan baffle make it far better than the standard version.

It also received a slew of aerodynamic components, including a front spoiler with carbon-fiber air ducts and a handmade, lightweight dry-carbon-fiber rear spoiler that helps increase aerodynamic downforce.

Power numbers remain the same, which means that customers will receive a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that comes with new fuel injectors for enhanced torque response and improved throttle and acceleration. Total output is at 545 horsepower and 463 pound-feet of torque.

In terms of exclusivity, the Gentleman Edition is more limited than the Special Edition because the former will only have 10 units to its name.

It’s got an equally exclusive Grey Squale finish to go with an amber red leather interior with hand-sewn seats and leather coverings on the gear shifter knob, lever gaiter, handbrake, door panels, and table passenger-side edge.

Add-ons are also part of the GT-R Gentleman Edition package, which in this case, includes a special bag, glasses case, covering pockets that are stitched in leather, and a specific identification titanium that you can be find on the front fender as well as a numbered customizable titanium placard displayed on the dashboard.

The new Midnight Opal paint is applied with each coat carefully applied by hand, resulting in an exterior finish that can only be seen in the most exotic of supercars. The finished surface sparkles like a jewel, and how the coloring is perceived changes depending on light conditions and viewing angle. The dry carbon fiber rear spoiler enhances aerodynamic stability at ultra-high speeds, while the black finish spices up the look of the car’s rear end.
