Nissan released the Altima as a compact four-door sedan back in the early ‘90s, updating it to a mid-size model in 2001. The latest sixth-generation vehicle debuted at the New York International Auto Show earlier in 2018, and now, the Japanese automaker is offering a limited-run variant dubbed the Edition ONE. Designed for “early adopters” who love their tech and “value exclusivity,” this Altima comes with a few nice touches to help it stand out from the crowd.

What Makes The Nissan Altima Edition ONE Special

Overall, this limited production version of the 2019 Nissan Altima sedan comes with all the usual touches you’d expect from such a model. That includes a number of exterior upgrades designed to enhance the car’s natural lines and styling, starting with new 19-inch dark gray aluminum wheels in a unique design. There’s also a new rear spoiler and external ground lighting, plus the requisite Edition ONE badging. Buyers are offered a selection of three exterior paint options to choose from, including Scarlet Ember, Pearl White, and Super Black.

Step into the cabin, and you’ll find illuminated kick plates, plus Edition ONE floor mats.

Complementing the aesthetic upgrades is a raft of tech stuff, starting with the ProPILOT Assist semi-autonomous driving tech, the same system you’ll find on the Nissan Rogue and Nissan Leaf.

The Altima Edition ONE also includes Nissan’s ConciergeSM service, an exclusive program that offers 24/7 live assistance for things like dinner reservations, event ticket purchases, and more. You can access the service either in the vehicle or through your smart device of choice, be it your phone, watch, or speaker. Buyers receive complimentary access to the ConciergeSM service for three years after initial purchase.

Each Edition ONE is based off the range-topping Altima Platinum VC-Turbo model, which comes pre-equipped with leather seating, a Bose audio system, and a moon roof.

Under the hood is Nissan’s boosted variable compression engine. As a replacement for the outgoing 3.5-liter V-6, this new inline four-cylinder produces upwards of 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, all without gulping down the premium fuel thanks to a multi-link design that can transition between an 8:1 compression ratio for high performance and a 14:1 compression ratio for higher efficiency.

Order books open up on June 15th. Only 3,900 examples of the Edition ONE will be produced. The standard Nissan Altima will be available for order at that time as well, with deliveries expected this fall. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the standard Nissan Altima should start at about $24,000.

If you decide to reserve an Altima Edition ONE, Nissan will give you a free gift, including either an Amazon Echo Show with an Amazon Prime membership, a Bose Soundlink Revolve+ with an Amazon Echo Dot and Amazon Prime membership, or a Series 3 Apple Watch.
