A Bit More Expensive And Finally With A Smartphone Integration System

As a compact sedan, the Nissan Sentra never was what one may call "popular" among gearheads. Yet, Nissan is eager to improve it, even going so far as to release a spirited Nismo version in the process a few years back. Now, we have the 2019 Nissan Sentra with only a handful of upgrades, most notable of which is the integration of the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all models, save for the entry Sentra S.

The new model is a tiny bit more expensive for 2019, with the entry-level model coming in at $1,100 more. Now at $17,790, the entry-level Sentra S gets some fairly nice basic equipment including air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, powered windows/locks, and cruise control. The entry-level car comes with a 1.8-liter engine that develops 124 horsepower with the Xtronic transmission and 130 horsepower with a six-speed manual. Not exactly the most powerful engine out there, is it?

Moving up to the 2019 Nissan Sentra SV unlocks a 7.0-inch NissanConnect infotainment system with aforementioned smartphone integration systems. Basically, choosing the SV won’t only grant you this infotainment option, but also give you an opportunity to opt for the SV Special Edition Package.

It is a new offering for the Sentra that drizzles the car with “17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), power sliding glass moonroof with tilt feature, center room dim lamp (LED), dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors and Special Edition badge.”

Considering that you will probably squeeze the most out of every dollar when buying this car, the SV Special Edition Package seems like the best way to spend the money. It comes with the Xtronic transmission, meaning that your 2019 Sentra will get an automatic emergency braking system. It is standard equipment on Xtronic-equipped models.

The least powerful naturally aspirated 1.8-liter is available with the Sentra SR and the Sentra SL trim levels which sell for $20,590 and $23,020, respectively.

The 2019 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo and the Nissan Sentra Nismo are the only ones available with the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine.

Downsizing to 1.6-liters, but with an added turbocharger, injects new life in the Sentra. The Sentra can be yours with the 188 horsepower turbocharged engine for as little as $22,570 (before destination charges, mind you). The 2019 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo and the Nissan Sentra Nismo are the only ones available with the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine.

Yet, if you are already going for speed in the Sentra, man up and slash out $25,840 for the Nismo. Nissan didn’t report much on the 2019 Sentra Nismo, but features such as the double wing aero enhancements, “side and rear lower body panels, with thin red stripe accents” and added Nismo features on the inside give it a somewhat sporty demeanor. Plus, you’ll enjoy stiffer suspension and less roll. Something any Sentra driver should appreciate.

The 2019 Nissan Sentra is available with a suite of Safety Shield Technologies, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
