Car Magazine has got the right idea for a little holiday spirit. It asked designers in the U.K. from Bentley, Nissan, Ford and Rolls-Royce to pimp Santa’s ride. Each designer took elements from the brands current car design philosophy but came up with some very different results: everything from a futuristic Nissan GT-R based rocket sled to a gothic classic from Rolls-Royce.
No matter if the engine is measured in horsepower or reindeerpower, speed is the theme in all of these designs. So we have no trouble liking all of them.

One of the great things about car renderings is the ability to let your imagination go crazy. You can use an existing car model and re-imagine it without a roof, or you can get really creative and redesign it in a different body type altogether. There’s something to be said, then, for renderings that take two models from two different automakers and combine them to create an entirely new model. It’s the kind of Transformers-like job that we should be seeing more often in the real world. Or should we? The truth is, BudgetsDirect undertook this very exercise, and the results are all “interesting,” to say the least. As an added bonus, we’re doing our own part and renaming these creations in the best way we can.

April Fool’s Day has come and gone, and as you might have expected, a number of automakers spent the occasion trying to pull a fast one on all of us. Some of them worked while others didn’t. Some got us thinking if the pranks were real - or we wish they were real - while others flamed out because they were too obvious from the very beginning. Still, it was a good day to check out what kind of absurdity we had coming our way. If you missed out on all the April Fool’s pranks that these auto brands came out with, well, we got you, fam.
Nissan To Produce 370Z Until The End Of Time
First introduced back in 1969 as the Datsun 240Z, Nissan has produced six generations of its iconic Z car, with the latest Z34-gen 370Z arriving in late 2008 for the 2009 model year. Despite strong demand from enthusiasts around the world, Nissan has yet to update the popular sports car past the existing 370Z generation, and now, according to an anonymous insider, it’s looking like Nissan could keep it in limbo until the end of time.

Automakers Celebrate Lifting Of Ban On Women Drivers In Saudi Arabia
We knew it was coming sooner than later. Now that the women of Saudi Arabia are all set to be allowed to drive, automakers from all over the world have been quick to react to the ground-breaking news, celebrating the development on the social media with hashtags #SaudiWomenMove and #SaudiWomenCanDrive.
Ford, Volkswagen, and Nissan were the first automakers to post their congratulations and promote themselves to the women of Saudi Arabia, getting the word out early that they’re ready to welcome women drivers into the driver’s seat for the first time in the history of the Middle Eastern country. The quick response to the living of the driving ban was a smart move, particularly because of the business potential that it offers for a lot of these companies. Data gathered by The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association revealed that Saudi Arabia is the largest importer of vehicles and parts in the entire Middle East region. At the same time, data from LMC Automotive pointed to Saudi Arabia as the 21st biggest automotive market in the world, a figure that could go up with the potential of having more customers by virtue of lifting the ban. In total, Merrill Lynch estimates that as many as nine million potential new drivers could be in the hunt for new cars in Saudi Arabia, including 2.7 million resident non-Saudi women. With all these numbers being thrown out, it’s no wonder that companies like Ford, Volkswagen, and Nissan were quick to roll out the carpet for Saudi women. It’s going to be great for business!

Richard Hammond Races Porsche 918 Against Nissan Patrol: Video
The Porsche 918 Spyder is a monumentally fast machine. Rocking a 4.6-liter V-8 internal combustion engine paired with a dual set of electric motors and seven-speed PDK transmission, this German monster lays down upwards of 887 horsepower and 940 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough hutzpah to push the Porsche to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, with the top speed rated at 211 mph. So it’s quick, that much is obvious. But, as Richard Hammond finds out in this video, no matter how fast you might think you are, there’s always something quicker. This time around, that something just so happens to be a Nissan Patrol SUV with a few choice modifications.
You’re probably asking – “how can this rather humdrum Japanese box on wheels compete with the Teutonic insanity that is the 918?” A quick glance won’t reveal much. But take a closer look, and you’ll start to notice this isn’t just any Nissan. The biggest giveaway is in the corners, where a four piece of uber-gummy Hoosier race slicks provide the traction. Then there’s the front end, where a somewhat Godzilla-esque grille shows some teeth, plus there are sporty-looking vents lining the hood. That’s right – this sleeper is hiding a full Nissan GT-R engine and AWD drivetrain under the hood, tuned to deliver a whopping 1,900 turbocharged horsepower! Suddenly, Dubai’s local selection of supercars might have something to think about…
Well this is a bit strange and embarrassing. Not too long ago at the Academy Awards, Ellen DeGeneres managed to crash Twitter when she posted a celebrity selfie. Some people even went as far as to say that the internet itself was broken. Recently Paper Magazine decided it wanted to cause an incredible viral sensation by posting pictures of Kim Kardashian and her enormous booty in various states of undress accompanied with the hashtag #BreakTheInternet.
Nissan has been on point with making fun of people and situations on Twitter lately — just look at the Nyan-cat GT-R joke — and they decided that Kim Kardashian would make the perfect target. The main photo in question shows Kardashian balancing a champagne glass on her large posterior. Nissan’s simple response is a rear three-quarter view of the new GT-R Nismo with a champagne glass perched upon its rear wing. The photo is complimented by little more than the text “Ours is bigger.”
It is a equal parts silly, abnormal, and desperate. I love that Nissan has a social team that is not afraid to take chances on obscure social campaigns, but sadly this one feels more like a sad grab for attention by piggy-backing on what was promising to be a lucrative social movement. That said, I won’t complain about more high-resolution photos of the GT-R Nismo floating around the internet.

We’re pretty sure that most of you have heard, or maybe even said, "man, I would give my left nut to get that car." We are also pretty sure that anyone who has uttered those words would likely back off of them when the opportunity presented itself. Well, we found one man that took someone up on the offer... sort of.
Enter in Mark Parisi, the man that essentially sold his testicle to buy his dream car, a Nissan 370Z. He announced on CBS’s show The Doctors that his testicle will go to medical science research and that his reward for the donation was a cool 35k. Just enough to buy the 370Z that he so dearly desired.
We don’t know about you, but selling off one-third of your manhood for a $35,000 Nissan seems a little crazy, but that’s just our opinion. Now, we may have a tougher debate if said manhood removal would net us a Ferrari LaFerrari or a Porsche 918 Spyder. We guess everyone has their price...

There are a few obligatory things in any attention-grabbing car commercial. They are a desirable car, sweet cool music, and the optional good looking woman, and by optional we mean mandatory… Well, Duxcoat, a water and stain repellant company, decided to show us exactly how confident they are in their Nano paint treatment using the mandatory woman and one not-so-mandatory addition. For those that don’t know what Nano paint treatment is, it is a sealant that prevents water and stains from sitting on your car’s paint or windshield.
Onto the video… So, you have a rather attractive and (ahem) “well-equipped” woman jogging down an old dirt road in a white shirt, a Nissan Frontier, and a puddle of water. Hmm, can you do the math? If not, call in any former member of a fraternity and he’ll explain it to you (white shirt + water = see-through shirt and lots of hoops and hollers). In to ruin the fun is a well-fed man with upper torso equipment not quite as intriguing as the running woman’s.
All three converge in front of the mud puddle, leaving the woman and man soaked. Every male TopSpeed reader is now thinking the same thing “Woo Hoo!!” Well, there is a “wardrobe malfunction” in this commercial, but only with one of the two folks in white shirts. The other one is wearing a shirt coated with… Duxcoat! We’re not going to tell you which one, but we’ll leave it at this; at a certain angle, man boobs look a lot like those found on a female, so be careful with the staring on this one. You might give people the wrong idea.

We have all had bad experiences at car dealerships and car repair shops. Heck, being a former service manager, I have had to attempt to repair these bad situations at times. Typically, when customer service turns sour, you simply express your anger, go home, call the corporate office, and eventually get a resolution. Well, apparently this is not the way the customer service flowchart goes in some countries.
In a Nissan and Suzuki dealership in what looks to be Russia, if I am seeing the sign correctly, a customer decides to take part in creating his own resolution for a customer service issue.
According to the story that we read, this customer took his Suzuki SUV, which he bought new, back to the dealership to have a faulty shock replaced. The dealership refused to replace the shock under warranty, which really isn’t that uncommon, and from there the customer bypassed calling customer service, and chose to take his frustrations out on the dealership, by way of ramming his Grand Vitara through the dealership’s window.
That’s not where it stops, this driver then smashes up a few brand new floor model vehicles, using his SUV as a battering ram, then eventually disappears from the screen – likely to do more damage on the other side of the dealership.
I used to have pretty nasty road rage, but mine mostly consisted of laying on my horn and flashing the occasional one-fingered salute. This guy really needs to get his anger issues under control. I hope his car insurance company is prepared to pay out to fix his now-smashed SUV, or their office may receive the same “redecorating.”

Following the debacle of a first episode for Top Gear USA, The Car Show comes at us again with hilarity and automotive variety in their third episode of the season.
In this episode, Adam Corolla (comedian and car enthusiast), Dan Neil (automotive columnist for The Wall Street Journal), John Salley (4-time NBA Champion and actor), and Matt Farah (SmokingTire.com) take part in a number of segments that made us laugh at loud, literally. Mixed in with the good times and "Lambo-quality comedy," the guys take part in a test comparing the automated driving versus actual driving in a 2007 BMW 328i sedan, a comparison of the Audi R8 and the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, and an interview with racing legend, Pete Brock.
The fun doesn’t stop there as the boys go through their 0-60 and Adam’s America segments, as well as a trip to North Carolina for some dirt track racing.

Top Gear has never been shy of dealing with controversies and lawsuits, having spent an inordinate amount of their time and resources deflecting complaints left and right, including a recent dispute with Tesla over the state of their electric sports car.
Turns out, Top Gear’s electric car curse has come back and bitten Jeremy Clarkson in the hiney a second time. In the middle of their EV test drive with the Nissan Leaf and the Peugeot iOn, the former’s electric power runs out on the Britishman, leaving him stranded and at a loss of what to do with the latest debacle. Worse off, the whole incident happened in the city and outside of the Top Gear test track. After much deliberation and a few requests to boot, the two crackling hosts - together with a number of good-hearted volunteers - were able to push the stricken Leaf into the University of Lincoln where an outlet was ready, willing, and waiting.
In the event that Nissan decides to file a lawsuit against Top Gear similar to Tesla, the British show at least has visual evidence of what transpired, probably saving them a whole truckload of money.
We see a lot of funny commercials now and again, but rarely does one make us sit back in our chairs and let out a loud guffaw. Ladies and Gentleman, meet Pepe, a Mexican chicken ready to start its battle with the popular Nissan 370Z. There will be no eye-gouging or scratching, but there will be plenty of laughs and speed.
The marketing geniuses that came up with this idea have summed it up as follows: "A Mexican chicken? Up against the meat-eating Nissan 370Z? The things we do to prove a point. By the way, those of a nervous disposition, look away now."
This is the point where we have to clear up some things for the boneheads out there. Do NOT try this at home. A chicken is an innocent animal that should not do battle against anything, let alone a 332 HP sports car.
By the way, the Nissan 370Z is powered by a 3.7 liter V6 engine with an output of 332 HP at 7,000 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission.
After hitting Porsche below the belt a few days ago with their controversial advertising stunt, Nissan decided that they weren’t quite finished expressing themselves. Their most recent scathing attack was aimed at their more stable competition, the Audi TT.
With cut throat competition in the sports coupe segment, Nissan has embarked on a serious marketing strategy of winning new European converts.
This goal was evident in London, where the Japanese company took an Audi TTS bearing the slogan "More expensive, slower and less powerful than a Nissan 370Z" around the streets of London.
Adding salt to the wound, the branded Audi TT was trailed by another branded Porsche Cayman with the words "I dream of being as fast as a Nissan 370Z". Talk about being aggressive!
With Nissan’s changing fortunes, the company has been churning award winning vehicles, challenging even the top tier. The company has launched a series of media campaigns highlighting the fact that both sports cars are better in terms of performance yet cost less than their equivalent European rivals. According to Nissan’s marketing director, these campaigns are targeted to alter the perception that only German sports cars are the benchmarks for measuring performance and quality.

Even I can’t understand the reason why someone will convert a BMW into a Nissan, I have to admit that the result is impressive. For some reasons, known only by the guy who did that, a BMW E36 was transformed into a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34.
