When it comes to sports cars from the Land of the Rising Sun, the Nissan Z is one of the best. As far back as the ‘60s, the Z has captured the hearts and minds of enthusiasts worldwide thanks to its timeless good looks, traditional drivetrain layout, sonorous six-cylinder exhaust note, and giant-slaying performance potential, all of which is offered at an affordable price point. The latest iteration is the Z34, a.k.a. the 370Z, which bears the same attributes as its predecessors, but with modernized packaging. Summed up, the 370Z gets slick styling, updated cabin tech, RWD handling, and a solid amount of thrust, making it a 21st-century performance-machine worthy of the letter Z.
Unlike most manufacturers, Nissan did it right when designing its next-gen sports car. Compared to the previous generation (the 350Z), the 370Z gets smaller dimensions and lower weight, plus increased chassis rigidity and higher engine output – exactly the right combo when aiming to please throngs of enthusiasts. Over time, Nissan added new features and trim levels to broaden the Z’s appeal, but kept the original’s hardcore attitude for customers who demanded it. These days, the Z needs to evolve, which is a tricky proposition for a model bearing nearly five decades of history. For now, though, read on for a look at the newest version of Nissan’s classic two-door.

It isn’t as hardcore as a Nissan GT-R, but it certainly is very sporty. The Nissan Z-cars have been around for a long time and the 2014 370Z is the latest iteration of a long line of Z-cars that have come and gone.
Last year, Nissan updated the 370Z Roadster with new features like daytime running lights, an updated front fascia without compromising on the looks. The coupe has nice high shoulder and confident looks. Chopping off the roof hasn’t ruined the handsome exterior of the 370Z either.
For 2014, the Nissan 370Z Roadster employs a 3.7-liter V-6 naturally aspirated engine with 332 horsepower on tap. The engine is capable of churning out 270 pound-feet of torque @ 5200 rpm. For driving enthusiasts, Nissan offers a 6-speed manual gearbox which comes with Nissan’s SynchroRev Match system, while a 7-speed automatic with paddle-shift is also on the list.
The 2014 370Z is capable of delivering similar performance as the 2013 model. Combined fuel economy figures released by Nissan confirm that the 2014 model is rated at 20 mpg and 21 mpg for manual and automatic version respectively.
Updated 04/09/2015: Nissan announced prices for the 2016 370Z, which is now on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide unchanged from the previous year. The model is priced from $41,820, and the only update is a new Deep Blue Pearl exterior color.

But sometimes, you just have to slow down and enjoy the drive — to bask in every last mile of a pure driving experience in a pure sports car. That’s exactly what one man set out to do.
Scott Fisher and his beloved 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster are on a meandering mission to travel the United States in a clockwise fashion, while soaking in the experience on the timeless journey. No schedules needed.
Fisher started his epic journey last spring from his home in Las Vegas after selling his manufacturing business that he ran for 16 long years. It has since taken him over 30,000 miles through the American heartland, rolling over local highways and byways, while avoiding major routes and interstates “like the plague.” And it was all done in his beautiful ’67 Fairlady.
“I knew I needed to kinda’ get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back,” the 45-year-old man says. His journey has taken him north through the Pacific Northwest and over through the flyover states. Fisher’s goal was to stay up north during the summer months to avoid the extreme heat and sun exposure. “[It’s] allowed me to keep the top down, maybe 80 percent of the time.”

The Tokyo Motor Show opens its doors for the public in two weeks time. As we know, Nissan will make an exciting announcement at the show. Yes, it is the Nissan GT-R Nismo that debuts on November 19th, 2013. The company will also disclose the Nurburgring lap time set by the Nismo GT-R. But that’s not all, as Nissan will also showcase the Bladeglider concept.
Along with the concept car, Nissan will also reveal a concept prototype based on the Bladeglider, but toned down for actual production. The production version will have its sights set on attacking rival cars, like the Toyota GT 86 and Subaru BRZ. Andy Palmer- VP at Nissan told Motortrend that the Bladeglider will be the car for the young generation.
The origins of the Bladeglider concept can be traced back to the Nissan ZEOD RC racer, and that’s where the unconventionality begins. The designers of the Bladeglider concept describe it as "an extreme interpretation" of what a car can be. The thought behind the concept is to offer an affordable and appealing sports car to young people, according to Andy Palmer of Nissan.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is one of the very few compact sports cars that grabs a fair share of the limelight. Thanks to the increased demand for such compact sports cars, it is no surprise that other manufacturers are planning to join the bandwagon. BMW, for instance, is planning to launch a Z2 to rival the Miata.
And now, thanks to the confirmation from Nissan’s executive vice president Andy Palmer at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, Nissan will also accompany BMW in building such a vehicle, sans the open-top option from what we can tell.
This little sports car will be the entry level model for Nissan’s two-door sporty offerings, sitting below the Z-models and the mighty GT-R. Bear in mind, however, that this upcoming sports car isn’t meant to rival the award-hogging Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S.
Expect the car to be designed by the same hands that gave birth to the design of the Juke, so we can all anticipate a more youth-oriented approach.
Under the hood, Palmer mentions that the car will be "guilt-free.” What could be guiltier for a vehicle than polluting the environment? So, expect either an electric or a hybrid powertrain, though we have our bets placed on a hybrid system.
Palmer confirms that a concept model of the entry-level sports car will be shown off within a year. So, expect its production version to land in our shores somewhere around 2015.
We’re sort of excited about such a model being announced from the makers of the Godzilla. It gives more people an opportunity to enjoy sporty two-door model in a less expensive package.

The only Nissan sports car that us on everyone’s mind at the moment is the Nissan 370Z, so there’s a good chance that many have already forgotten about the old 350Z. Senner Tuning, however, has not and they have come up with a pretty cool upgrade package for the sports roadster. The package includes a polished exterior package, as well as an impressive upgrade under the hood. All of these changes do come at a significant cost, though. The package is priced at 23,900 Euro, or about $32,000 at the current exchange rates.
The exterior of the Nissan 350Z starts off with a chrome package for the front and rear blinkers, and the Z-symbol. A new LED Z-symbol has also been added on the back lights, as well as a new set of 20" matte black polished wheels.
The most significant changes were made under the hood. Thanks to some changes to the compressor and the addition of a new exhaust system, the engine’s output has been increased from 280 HP to an amazing 411 HP. Peak torque also went up from 267 lb-ft up to 342 lb-ft. Nothing has been said about how these power upgrades affected performance times, but they have surely been increased from the standard 0-60 mph sprint time of 5.4 seconds and top speed of 155 mph.
Nissan is rumored to be working on an affordable sports car, as a rival to the Mazda MX-5. The catch? Nissan’s sports car will feature an electric or plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
The Mazda MX-5 Miata is the car that usually comes up in discussion when automakers set their sights on developing an affordable sports car. Since its debut in 1989, the Mazda MX-5 has become the standard for world-class handling in a package to fit anyone’s budget. Some would accuse the MX-5 of being underpowered, but when it comes to the ability to carve corners with razor-like precision, the MX-5 has few rivals, and none in its price range.
If new rumors surrounding Nissan are correct, that’s about to change. As part of its plan to launch 52 new cars over the next five years, Nissan is rumored to be working on an affordable rear-drive sports car. It will be built on a midsize platform purchased from Daimler, that ultimately will be used on the next generation 370Z, GT-R, and Infiniti G as well.

The snow has melted in most parts of the world, so customers are gearing up for what will be a hot Spring and an even hotter Summer. And if you just so happen to be an owner of a 2008-2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster, then you’ll want to pay attention. Schmidt Revolution has prepared a tuning package for the roadster that offers a new set of wheels, a new coilover suspension and a stainless steel exhaust system to get the car ready for those long, top down rides.
Starting from the bottom up, Schmidt Revolution will have two sets of wheels for customers to choose from. Variant 1 includes a new set of three-part C-Line wheels, size 9.5x20-inch front and 12x20-inch rear, with 245/30-20 and 305/25-20 Hankook tires for a price of $7,200. The next version, Variant 2, will include wheels, size 21", with 245/30-21 and 295/25-21 tires. This set goes for $8,600. Both sets come with Radinox-coated rims that are washable and suitable for everyday use.
Further customization for the Nissan 370Z Roadster comes from a new H&R coilover system that allows the 370Z to hug the ground a little tighter and a new stainless steel exhaust system along with dampers for a more appropriate engine sound. The coilover system can be had for $1,600, while the exhaust system pushes the envelope further at $6,500.
No changes were made to boost performance for the 370Z Roadster, so the customer will have to make due with the 3.7 Liter DOHC V6 engine already situated under its hood. This engine will produce 332 HP, up 26 HP from the old VQ35 engine thanks to the new Variable Valve Event and Lift control (VVEL) which manipulate the motor’s breathing too ensure optimum respiration and allow for the car’s redline to be raised by 1000 revs all the way up to 7500 RPM. The engine is mated to either a seven speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching or a close ratio six speed manual with throttle blipping SynchroRev Match.
The new generation Nissan Z Roadster entered the market a year later than its coupe brother, so with such a short history, the 370Z Roadster enters the 2011 model year with no major updates. Changes for 2011 are limited to the addition of RearView Monitor to the optional Navigation Package and one new exterior color, Gun Metallic. The Roadster model is offered in two versions: 370Z Roadster priced at $37,520 and 370Z Touring Roadster priced at $41,070.
Like the coupe version, the 370Z Roadster is powered by a 3.7 liter V6 engine with an output of 332 HP @ 7,000 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque @ 5,200 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The roadster sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and can hit a top speed of 155 mph (limited).
Compared to the coupe version, the roadster gets exclusive high back seats, added structural body reinforcements, and a convertible top. The 370Z Roadster’s roof was designed with an emphasis on three key areas: to provide a sleek silhouette matching the Z’s stunning styling with the top up or down, to offer easy single-action open-close operation, and to provide an enjoyable top-down experience with reduced wind turbulence and all-climate driver/passenger comfort.

Japanese sports cars have always been a favorite of mine; they have great lines and styling, are easy on the wallet when it comes to the gas pump, and when tuned properly can move very fast with great maneuverability. Recently we reviewed the 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster with the optional touring package and, in all honesty, the car was a blast to drive. It handled well and had a great power plant with great looks to match, but now I am delighted to be in the presence of a different version of the 370Z. This version, one that is more aggressive and powerful, can only be found in the 2010 370Z Nismo edition. This car reminds me that the era of the Japanese sports cars that I favored did not go away with the Supra, RX7, and the rest of the big Japanese cars, but is alive and well. The best part is that Nissan is still true to the original Z car introduced to the market almost 40 years ago while providing a plethora of Z cars to match the needs, budgets, and stylings of most drivers.
In the world of import sport cars, or as some would call it sport compact cars, many enthusiasts can say that they have seen many models that would cater to their lifestyle come and go from various automakers. We have seen makes like the Toyota Supra come and evolve into a force not to be trifled with on and off the tracks. The same can be said for the earlier versions of the Mazda RX7 and the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. The problem with all of these Japanese powerhouses, who ran strong and were very popular in their prime, was that they started fading away leaving the sports compact consumer in wait for the next best thing.
Such was the case with the Nissan 300zx twin turbo. For the Nissan freaks, this car had it all: V6 twin turbocharged VG30 engine, limited slip differential, Bose sound system, big brakes, and styling that was true to the heritage of the original Z car. Then suddenly in 1996 Nissan announces that the 300ZX would not come back becoming yet another casualty of great Japanese sports cars we would never see again.

It’s true – at least for the most part - that just about every car you see being sold on a place like eBay has some kind of story to tell.
The story behind this Nissan 370Z Roadster is a doozy, even for our standards.
Here’s the deal: A well-off man bought this 370Z for a girl he was seriously attracted to and tried to ‘buy’ her affection through a spanking-new Nissan sports car. Problem is, the girl was neither swayed by the gift nor did her feelings for the said young buck change. So she did what any girl would do: she asked her pop to sell the car and that’s why it’s on eBay.

It has been less then a year since we saw the new Z33 replace the old 350Z Roadster with the 370Z Roadster, a lighter, shorter and more powerful version of the classic sports car. However as the top goes down the asking price goes up to $36,970 from the fixed roof version’s sub $30,000 starting point.
Just like the 370Z coupe, the rag top is powered by a 3.7 Liter DOHC V6 making 332 HP, up 26 HP from the old VQ35 engine thanks to the new Variable Valve Event and Lift control (VVEL) which manipulates the motor’s breathing too ensure optimum respiration and allows for the car’s redline to be raised by 1000 revs all the way up to 7500 RPM while returning an estimated fuel economy of 18 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. The engine is mated to either a seven speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching or a close ratio six speed manual with throttle blipping SynchroRev Match for perfectly matched heel toe downshifting.
The 370Z Roadster is being offered in two different trim levels, made up of the base 370Z Roadster and a Touring edition. The more luxurious version will be available with more upgrade packages consisting of the Sport Package that brings a set of 19 inch RAYS forged wheels wrapped in sticky Bridgestone Potenza tires, Nissan Sport Brakes, the SynchroRev Match feature on the 6 speed manual version and a Viscous Limited Slip Differential to ensure that the driver can get the tail out whenever desired. There will also be a Navigation Package that is based on a Hard Drive Nissan Navigation System as well as a 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive and USB connectivity for all your MP3 playing needs at speed with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face.

The Japanese automaker Nissan has announced that the new Fairlady Z Roadster is already on sale in the sports car’s home market. Intended to be a convertible from day one, Nissan’s engineers designed the 370Z in a way that the loss of structural rigidity and added weight of a retractable canvas roof would have no effect whatsoever on the drop top Z car’s performance. Their goal was to blend the pure exhilaration and sporting appeal of the Z34 and seamlessly combine it with the excitement of open air driving by offering the same high performance power plant and curvaceous bodylines that make the fixed roof Nissan 370Z such a desirable sports car.
Just like the Fairlady Z Coupe, the new Z Roadster features a shorter wheelbase and an increased track to make the sports car more nimble while at the same time keeping the weight down. The same 3.7 Liter V6 engine that propels the standard vehicle to the tune of 330 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque also powers the Nissan 370Z Roadster. By combining the high performance VQ37VHR with the Z34’s dynamic chassis, Nissan has instilled the 370Z Roadster with remarkably high levels of acceleration and handling, while providing a quiet and comfortable interior even with the top down.
It is a tall order for a design team to build a convertible that looks just as nice with the top up as it does down. In most cases it looks like a vehicle’s designers decided to focus on only one of the drop head’s personalities; either by leaving the car with a bulky looking roofline or like there is just too much junk in the trunk when it is retracted. However thanks to careful planning and some very intuitive foresight, the hamburger logo has been able to once again avoid turning one of their premier sports cars into a cow of a convertible with the Nissan 370Z Roadster.

The other day Top Speed reported the pricing for the new Nissan 370Z roadster, we now have a few more details. Get your bank accounts ready, fellas. The pricing for the all-new Nissan 370Z Roadster is finally out.
Since its debut at the New York Auto Show last April, a lot of people have wondered when the car would finally be rolled out of the production line and be made available to the public. That time has come.
Nissan officially priced the car at $37,690 for the six-speed manual transmission and $38,990 for the optional seven-speed automatic. Other variations of the Z370, including a Touring model, goes for $40,520 with a manual transmission and $42, 540 for the automatic gearbox.
The car has drawn comparison from its predecessor the 350Z and while both models have striking similarities, the 370Z has taken some of the elements of the 350 and made it even better. For one, the wheelbase of the 370Z is nearly four inches shorter at 100.4 inches compared to the 104.3-inch wheelbase of the 350. Likewise, the 370’s overall length was also reduced by 2 inches compared to the 350, 167.2 from 169.8 inches.
