2020 Nissan Rogue - Driven
It’s far too easy for car aficionados to dismiss an aging vehicle. “Just look at that dashboard — straight out of 2014. And that hopelessly uncompetitive engine, ugh; to keep up, it needs at least 11% more horsepower. Junk!”
Now, we’d never suggest that cars never fall behind the curve. Quite the contrary, it happens all the time in today’s fast-paced marketplace. But when a vehicle gets the important stuff right from the start, especially if it also benefits from updates over the years, it can still be a great choice in its segment throughout its lifespan. And that’s precisely the case we’re finding with the 2020 Nissan Rogue compact crossover, one of America’s best-selling vehicles. The Rogue still brings a handsome face, a pleasant driving experience, great gas mileage, and a spacious cabin. And it’s now laden with advanced driver-assistance technology, even on the base model.
True, the Rogue hasn’t changed much since its current generation debuted as a 2014 model. Yes, its interior still has the sort of humdrum plastics and plain shapes that most newer competitors have moved away from. And its 170 horsepower is undoubtedly on the low side for the segment these days. The Rogue isn’t one of the compact crossovers that brings a high degree of luxury, sporty performance, or overall pizzazz. But we’d challenge its critics to spend a week in one, study how it compares to its competitors, and still write it off as a tired relic. We found the Rogue to be a solid family vehicle at compelling prices, and we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our time with it — and with the glowing praise it received from passengers. Prices start at $26,39, including destination charge.
2019 Nissan Rogue - Driven
The Nissan Rogue is in its second generation, but it has been soldiering on since it was introduced in 2014 with only a mild facelift in 2017 and a safety equipment update in 2018. With all of the wide selection of compact SUVs on the market, we thought it would be a good idea to see how the aging Rogue holds up on an oh-so-competitive market. Does the Rogue’s appearance, interior comfort, safety systems, and technology hold up against the ever-growing crop of small crossovers or is Nissan in dire need of majorly updating the Rogue? Well, we found that out for ourselves and more – this is our experience with the 2020 Nissan Rogue.
2020 Nissan Rogue Sport
When seen from a bird’s eye view, Nissan is actually managing its crossover portfolio quite well. At the entry-level, the Japanese automaker has the Kicks and, at the top, it has the Nissan Rogue. Nissan had the Juke to fill the gap in between, but the model was discontinued a couple of years back. Although it looked like the Kicks will have to manage two duties, Nissan quickly came up with a much better replacement for the Juke in the form of the Nissan Rogue Sport. The Rogue Sport was specially designed for the U.S. market and is not being sold anywhere else.
2017 Nissan Rogue Trail Warrior Project
Introduced in 2013 and revised for the 2017 model year, the second-generation Rogue has evolved into one of Nissan’s best-selling vehicles in the United States. As a result, the SUV is getting a lot of attention from the brand, including a few special-edition models like the Midnight Edition. For the 2017 New York Auto Show, the Japanese firm transformed the Rogue into a snow bank and sand dune fighter. This go-anywhere Rogue is called the Trail Warrior Project and uses tracks instead of wheels.
As cool as it may sound, this isn’t the first Rogue on tracks. In early 2016, Nissan unveiled a similar Rogue that was build by Motorsports in Action in Quebec, Canada. Also fitted with tracks, it was demonstrated on snow and created quite a lot of buzz on the Internet. However, it wasn’t as spectacular as the Trail Warrior Project, as it lacked the military look and most of the gear. Before the Rogue, Nissan built the Juke Nismo RSnow, a Juke Nismo on track that was developed and showcased in Europe. So Nissan has a lot of experience with corssovers on tracks and could build a production model. Unfortunately, is appears that the Trail Warrior Project will remain a New York Auto Show exclusive concept only.
"This new Rogue Trail Warrior adds a new dimension to family adventures with its snow/sand tracks, gear basket, winch and camo paint," said Michael Bunce, vice president of product planning at Nissan North America. "If you want to stand out from the crowd during a day on the slopes or the beach, this is the vehicle to take."

2017 Nissan Rogue Midnight Edition
The Chicago Auto Show has carved a unique niche in the auto show calendar. Whereas other events like Geneva and Detroit are considered the two biggest shows in the world, the Windy City’s version has evolved into a place where automakers showcase their latest accessories and special editions. Nissan, for example, is heavily involved in Chicago because most of its high-profile models, including the best-selling Nissan Rogue, are showing off their new Midnight Edition packages.
You might remember that Nissan initially offered the Midnight Edition package for the Maxima sedan a year ago. Well, it turns out that a lot of people liked the essence of the package that they started clamoring the Japanese automaker to expand its availability to other models wearing the Nissan badge. And so, here we are. Nissan not only gave in to those demands, it went above and beyond what was asked and developed packages for not one, but five new models, including the aforementioned Rogue compact SUV.
The Midnight Edition package for the Nissan Rogue consists mainly of aesthetic upgrades meant to infuse some sporting character to the vehicle. In as far as objectives are concerned, the Rogue’s Midnight Edition package not different from others of its kind, even if the specifics do vary depending on the model.
Remember though that if you’re looking for extensive upgrades to your Nissan Rogue, the Midnight Edition package doesn’t address everything you might be looking for. For one, engine upgrades are nowhere to be found and the interior add-ons are minimal at best. But if your expectations are right where they should be, the package should be an attractive option, especially since the added cost of it won’t necessarily burn holes in your pocket.

2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid
Nissan first started production of the Rogue in 2007, officially dropping cover at the Detroit Auto Show. Since then, the model has enjoyed several updates, including a new generation that was unveiled in 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Throughout its lifespan, the Rogue has always been equipped with a four-cylinder gasoline engine for motivation. But these are greener times than what we saw in 2007, and as such, Nissan just released the face-lifted Rogue with the option for a hybrid powerplant. In addition to fewer stops at the pump, the new Rogue Hybrid also promises “virtually no compromise” when it comes to the compact SUV’s performance, interior space, and cargo room, as compared to the standard Rogue.
Unveiled recently at the Miami International Auto Show, the new Rogue looks poised to topple the Altima mid-size sedan in terms of average sales across Nissan’s model lineup. With momentum like that, it makes sense to offer an eco-friendly alternative to broaden the crossover’s appeal. After all, Toyota is already doing it with the RAV4. Of course, Toyota is no stranger to hybrid technology (it gave the world the Prius, for goodness sake), but neither is Nissan at this point. Paired with crossover sales that continue to show strength year after year, the Rogue Hybrid should have what it takes to perform. Right?

2017 Nissan Rogue Sport
The second-generation Nissan Rogue was introduced in 2013, and much like its predecessor, it’s a version of the X-Trail specifically revised for the North American market. Upgraded inside and out for the 2017 model year, the Rogue also gained a little brother for the 2018 model year. Dubbed Rogue Sport, this new crossover is actually the second-generation Qashqai, that Nissan launched in Europe for the 2014 model year.
In case you’re wondering, Nissan decided to the rename it the Rogue Sport as the company found that Americans would have trouble pronouncing the Qashqai name. In Canada, however, the Qashqai will retain its original name, which comes from the Qashqai people living in mountainous Southwestern Iran.
Aside from the name and minor revisions on the outside (due to homologation reasons), the Rogue Sport is identical to its European counterparts as far as design goes. Slotted between the Juke and the Rogue, the Rogue Sport is supposed to appeal to "singles or couples without kids who want a sportier vehicle and can live with a little less cargo capacity than the current Rogue offers."
The crossover gets its juice from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder connected to the company’s Xtronic CVT. This is the biggest engine available in the Euro-spec Qashqai, but not the most powerful, which is the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-pot. The crossover will be available in three trim levels: S, SV, and SL.

2017 Nissan Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you know that the Star Wars franchise is experiencing a renaissance. As with most valued franchises, companies have had no problem jumping in on the bandwagon. Count Nissan among these companies and the Japanese automaker hasn’t been bashful about its partnership with Star Wars franchise. You only need to take a look at the Nissan Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition that was unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show to see the lengths by which this partnership has grown in the past few years.
Based on the 2017 Nissan Rogue, the SUV gets an overdose in Star Wars-related cosmetic digs, right down to the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire logos on the cupholders and the Rogue One logo badging on the front doors. Remember in 2013 when Nissan and Star Wars also collaborated on another model, the Juke Star Wars Edition? That version had more buzz surrounding it, but you can make a case that the Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition SUV received more of the stylized Star Wars treatment than the Juke ever had.
Here’s the best part about the Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition: only 5,400 units are going to be made available and of that 5,400 units, 5,000 has been earmarked for the U.S. market with the remaining 400 going to Canada. It’s a far cry from the Juke Star Wars Edition, which was only made available in Japan. Remember though, the Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition only comes in package form and is only available for Rogue models equipped with the Sun and Sound Touring Package. The package costs $1,990.

2017 Nissan Rogue
Nissan reworked the Rogue for the 2017 model year to be more attractive to buyers in the highly competitive compact crossover segment. An aggressive new exterior look complements a handsome interior redesign, combined with new-for-Rogue safety features and in-dash technology. Nissan’s goal: to make the Rogue its best-selling model in the U.S. Not surprisingly, Nissan succeeded thanks to these updates and the explosive crossover market. But Nissan isn’t leaving the Rogue alone. For 2018, more enhancements have been added.
"There are so many enhancements to Rogue for 2017, with every one of them designed to enhance its appeal with the fastest growing segment of buyers in the industry," said Michael Bunce, vice president of product planning for Nissan North America. "The crowning achievement is the addition of the new Rogue Hybrid, which increases fuel efficiency without compromising passenger roominess or cargo utility."
And while Nissan should be proud of adding a hybrid model to the Rogue’s lineup, the gasoline-electric won’t likely be the Rogue’s most popular guise. No, rather than the new 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 30-kW electric motor, most Rogues will come equipped with the familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder, CVT Xtronic transmission, and the choice of FWD or AWD.
Since its introduction for the 2008 model year, the Rogue has been growing its annual sales figures by leaps and bounds. Impressively, Nissan moved 287,190 Rogues during the 2015 calendar year – that’s more than the Jeep Cherokee at 220,260 examples sold and far more than either the Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage, both of which were under 64,000 units sold. Still, there’s room to grow. Honda’s CR-V leads the pack with 345,600 examples sold in the 2015 calendar year and Ford was right behind with 306,500 examples of the Escape moving off dealer lots.
There’s no doubt 2017’s improvements pushed the Rogue upward in popularity, but 2018’s addition of self-driving tech and a few appearance package options should bring even more customers to Nissan dealerships. Let’s have a detailed look at what Nissan has done with the Rogue for 2018.

2016 Nissan "Winter Warrior" Concepts
No matter where you live in the U.S., this winter has been a weird one. Some parts of the country are slammed with snow, and sometimes, the usual combination of AWD and cold-weather rubber just won’t cut it. When the white stuff is deep and the interstate looks like a ski resort, it’s time to bring in the big guns. Enter the Winter Warriors – three one-off crossover concepts from Nissan that are here to battle the elements with powder-churning treads and little regard for low-grip conditions.
Slated to debut at the Chicago Auto Show this week, the one-off Winter Warriors started life as stock-spec examples of the Pathfinder, Murano, and Rogue. Nissan then added extreme capability with outrageous new running gear, complemented by a list of out-door accessories and a unique exterior look.
The result is… well, the word extreme certainly comes to mind.

Essentially a simplified version of the 2014 Nissan Rogue, the 2014 Rogue Select is the kind of what-you-see-is-what-you-get compact SUV that leaves everything it’s got at the front door. It doesn’t come with a lot of major surprises, offering itself as is and little in the way of added surprises.
It figures that for a compact SUV that doesn’t have a whole lot of optional equipment, the Rogue Select is being offered for budget-conscious owners. For its price (less than $20,000 for the base model) you can make a case that the Rogue Select is a good way to go just so you can say you have a compact SUV in your garage.
But the other prevailing thought is the extra money you can shell out for other models that have a lot more to offer than the Rogue Select. Nissan probably doesn’t mind that thinking since it still has the 2014 Rogue to satisfy those needs.
It’s just that in case you’re on a tight budget, Nissan has you covered with the Rogue Select.

The all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue crossover broke cover today ahead of its arrival in U.S. showrooms this November.
The biggest news for the Rogue is a hugely revamped interior layout and level of tech integration. Now offering a third row of seats, for a total of seven seats, the Rogue also offers a longer wheelbase and wider-opening rear doors to provide easier access to the second and third rows.
The second row is now limousine-comfortable, with nine inches of fore and aft sliding capability, and a deep recline adjuster. A third row in a crossover and a starting price of just $22,490 is quite an achievement.
The exterior style is also virtually unrecognizable versus the last Rogue, which started strong as one of the first compact crossover launches. The current Rogue’s styling is not quite distinctive enough in the face of huge competition from all over the automotive world: so this redesign will inject some concept-car emotion into the surfaces and high-tech options to the exterior, including available LED headlights.
Standard automatic transmissions and a choice of front- or all-wheel-drive puts the Rogue right at the cool bull’s-eye of the crossover market. It is also much more distinctive than the RAV4or CR-V, and is the first Nissan to wear the company’s new V-bar grille — a look that will be soon be rolling out across the globe on Nissan cars and trucks.

America is unlike any other country on the planet, larger than most and with the most diversified population. Why do you think they call us the “melting pot”? This diversity is for certain, but another thing that makes America unique is their taste in vehicles. Unlike many countries around the world, the United States seems to enjoy riding high, while having the luxury of a car-like ride. Seems counter-intuitive, as those that like riding high go for trucks and those that want a smooth and cushy ride opt for sedans. Yet, the crossover, or CUV, has become a bigger hit than the Whopper and that’s mighty impressive.
Nissan has come to the table a tad late, but they have made up for their tardiness with a pleasant all-rounder: the Rogue. It blended Murano style with smaller proportions and, for some, it worked. Now, three years later, Nissan has revamped the Rogue in the hopes of garnering strong sales before a major refresh is in order.

The Japanese automaker Nissan has launched a special edition version of the 2010 model year Rogue crossover utility vehicle. Called the Rogue Krom, the new package is all about appearance with its aggressive sport styling, exclusive 17-inch wheels and a center-exit sport-tuned exhaust.
The all new Krom edition is based on the 2010 Rogue S, and adds a brilliant finish to the aluminum-alloy wheels and then wraps them with a set of 225/60 Continental Conti 4x4 Contact tires and a unique grille to match the rims embedded in the aggressive front fascia with integrated fog lights. In the rear, the Rogue Krom edition includes a boldly styled sport fascia with integrated center-exit exhaust, a body-colored rear spoiler and rear privacy glass. Body-colored power outside mirrors, a Krom emblem and steering wheel-mounted audio controls complete the Krom equipment modifications.

Nissan revealed details on the 2010 Rogue SUV once again offering a unique combination of sporty styling, engaging performance, versatility, safety and traditional Nissan value – including a new high-content 360° Value Package.
The 2010 Rogue is available in two models, Rogue S and Rogue SL, each with a standard 170-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, Nissan’s advanced Xtronic CVT, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Both S and SL models are available with an intuitive All-Wheel Drive system. Rogue SL models include standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
For 2010, the Rogue SUV is priced as follows: Rogue S FWD $20,340; Rogue SL FWD $21,930; Rogue S AWD $21,540; Rogue SL AWD $23,130. The 360° Value Package is priced at $1,040.

Nissan announced 2009 updates for its Rogue crossover that was introduced as an all-new model for 2008. Updates include: new auto speed-sensing door locks; fold-down front passenger seat, driver seatback pocket, dual-level center console tray and mood lighting for SL models; drive computer and outside temperature display added to SL models; two luggage side cargo hooks and dual visor vanity mirror illumination for SL models; the Leather Package option is now available for Rogue FWD SL models; and Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System and Nissan Intelligent Key added to the Rogue FWD Premium Package.
