A month ago, an Audi RS6 fitted with Nokian Tyres set the ice speed record, clocking in a top speed of 208.6 mph. It was a mighty impressive pace that should stand for a while, or at least until after somebody else decides to take a crack at it.
Recently, though, a bone-stock Nissan GT-R tried its luck in a crust of ice at Russia’s Lake Baikal. Piloted by Russian drivers Roman Rusinov and Andrey Leontjev, the GT-R set a pretty blistering lap time of its own, hitting a top speed of 294.8 km/h (183.18 mph).
It still fell short of what the RS6 was able to accomplish a month ago, but the time was still good enough to set the Russian ice speed record for a stock production car.
We know that records these days are only as good until somebody else beats it. But that doesn’t take away from the impressive feat Nissan Russia and the two racecar drivers managed to accomplish.
We give props where it’s due and the people involved in the attempt and subsequent record deserve a lot of credit. It’s not easy to drive on ice at such high speeds, but you all know that.
So what’s a car buff to do when Nissan completely crushes your dreams of ever owning a Nissan Juke-R by building only a handful of them and charging €500,000 ($649,550 at the current exchange rate) for it? Build your own, silly. Then build more, market it, and hope to God that Nissan doesn’t sue you into bankruptcy.
Well, this is exactly what Russian Company, Shpilli Villi Engineering, has done – well, almost. So far Shpilli Villi has only built a one-of model and it’s downright ignorant. This custom-built Juke-R features the GT-R’s 3.8-liter V-6 engine, but Shpilli Villi fitted it with a pair of HKS turbochargers and what sounds to us like the GT-R’s transmission and driveline too. This is good for a whopping 700-plus horsepower on regular pump gas or over 800 ponies when you manage to get a little 109-octane petrol in it.
This one-off Godzilla-meets-Juke features a coat of white paint – unlike the official Juke-R – a set of monstrously wide rims, wheel flares and a center-dump exhaust that produces all sorts of awesome tones. Though the images are a little scarce and the videos don’t show much of it, you can make out that this Juke-R does boast at least the instrument panel from the GT-R, but reports indicate that it has the entire GT-R interior.
What’s best is that the creator of this monster took it to the Nürburgring and let it loose, all while taking plenty of videos for us to see. We’re still trying to dig up more information on the vehicle, but at this point there isn’t much available on it. The only other bit of information we have is that Shpilli Villi will be building and selling these Juke-Rs to customers.

The Nissan Murano SUV is scheduled to be built at Nissan’s St. Petersburg production facility in Russia, the Japanese automaker recently announced.
This is good news for Nissan and the employment line in the St. Petersburg plant, which will see an increase in job opportunities sometime in June to accommodate the impending production start of the Murano sometime in 2011. According to Nissan, the decision to produce the Murano SUV in St. Petersburg, which will then be sold exclusively in Russia, will result in a spike in employment from 850 employees to about 1,450 employees. In addition to that, Nissan is planning to add a second shift to expedite the production of all the models being built in St. Petersburg.
As it stands, Nissan has sold around 9,000 Muranos in Russia since the SUV made its debut in the country a little over four years ago and with the production of the car being done in local soil, the company expects to see an upswing in sales in the near future.

While last time the Nissan had a hard time puling away without jumping the gun, this time it is Godzilla who lays claim to victory on the icy highways of Moscow. Either way, both the Switzer P800 and LPE ZR1 are amazing cars capable of doing 202 MPH in traffic. What would be interesting to see is how both cars would fare from a launch. Sending 800 HP though the GT-R’s transaxle might be enough to make the affordable super car take a bow.
