2019 Nissan Leaf Twin-Motor Concept
The 2019 Nissan Leaf Twin-Motor is an all-electric concept car that features two electric motors and all-wheel-drive capability. It’s heavily based on the existing second-generation Nissan Leaf, as it features an identical exterior and a lightly modified interior. Unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the twin-motor Leaf concept previews a new production car that’s already in the works. According to Nissan, this new drivetrain will enable a future EV to "achieve a huge leap in acceleration, cornering and braking performance, on par with the latest sports cars."
2019 Nissan Ariya Concept
The Nissan Ariya Concept has arrived at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. The all-electric crossover concept will take its place in Nissan’s booth in the show. But the Ariya Concept is far from a show car that will fall back into the shadows when the show ends. The Ariya Concept is a production-ready prototype that will eventually evolve to become Nissan’s second mass-market electric vehicle, joining the long-standing Leaf in that lineup. The production car — it will likely be called Ariya, too — will take plenty of cues from its concept counterpart. It’s not expected to hit the market until 2020, so for now, absorb everything you can absorb with the Ariya Concept. You’ll be seeing a lot more of the crossover in the near future.
2019 Nissan IMk Concept
About a decade ago, Nissan struck gold with the Nissan Leaf. The compact five-door hatchback was the automaker’s first-ever electric car, and it also happened to be one of the first mass-produced electric cars in the world. The Nissan Leaf was a pioneer, but now that it’s almost 10 years old, it’s also transitioned into a relic of sorts as newer and more advanced EVs have started hitting the market.
With the aging Leaf nearing its end date, Nissan is revisiting the successful blueprint it created a decade ago by introducing the IMk Concept, a small electric hatchback concept that’s pegged as a full-blown electric city commuter that packs a lot of Nissan’s new technologies. Does the concept point to Nissan’s future plans in the EV sphere? Could Nissan trap lightning in a bottle for a second time with the IMk Concept? We’ll find the answers to these questions at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show when the IMk Concept makes its world debut.
2017 Nissan IMx
Back in 2013, Nissan unveiled the IDx concept, getting everyone excited about a competitor for the Toyota 86 and a revival of the iconic Datsun 510. But that didn’t happen as of 2017, with Nissan going back and forth with the idea. Four years have passed, and the Japanese firm returned with a new concept car using a similar nameplate. the IMx. But, while it sports a similar badge, the new concept, which made its debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, is actually entirely different in terms of layout and technology.
To be more specific, the IDx was a tribute to the Datsun 510, a compact sports car that made a name for itself on both public roads and race tracks, the IMx is a sleek crossover that provides a glimpse into the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, or the company’s approach to how cars are "powered, driven, and integrated with society." In simpler terms, it previews the brand’s upcoming electric drivetrain and autonomous system. It also hints at Nissan’s future design language, which may bring sleeker, sportier SUVs in showrooms.

2017 Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept
The Nissan Leaf has been around since 2010, and it’s already one of the most popular all-electric vehicles on the road. The Japanese compact has been declared the best-selling EV in both 2013 and 2014 and sales have already surpassed 250,000 units as of 2017. On top of that, it has won numerous awards globally. Come 2017, and Nissan has launched the second-generation Leaf, a significantly improved vehicle that’s not only more appealing to look at, but also a better competitor to brand-new EVs like the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3. And it seems that the second-gen Leaf may finally spawn a Nismo version. Or at least this is what the Leaf Nismo Concept that was built for the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show suggests.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed for production, the Leaf Nismo Concept seems ready to hit the assembly line, as every new feature it received is inspired by previous Nismo cars. As usual, it has a sportier exterior, while the interior is highlighted by contrast stitching and the Nismo-specific red trim. The drivetrain has also been upgraded with a new, sporty suspension and revised ECU. On the other hand, both the electric motor and the battery are as standard as they get, which raises some concern as to whether or not the production version of the Leaf Nismo will be an authentic Nismo vehicle or just an annoying visual package. Nissan has been synonymous with performance ever since the Skyline GT-R was introduced in 1969. The moniker quickly made a name for itself on the street and the track, ultimately evolving into a coupe that went on to dominate the race courses starting in the late 1980s. The saga continued through the 1990s with the R33 and R34 models, and came to an abrupt halt in 2002 when Nissan decided to separate the GT-R line from the Skyline name. Five years later, the GT-R we all know today came alive and things got ridiculously fast and powerful.
Now, with GT-R getting up there in age, Nissan is looking to take it up a notch. One that’s likely to include a hybrid powertrain, enormous amounts of power and twist, and a brand-new design approach. The Japanese aren’t too keen on divulging the details behind the brand-new GT-R, but they’re giving us a taste of the next supercar using the Gran Turismo franchise. Dubbed Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, this virtual concept vehicle is already available in the game since 2014 and I suspect it will materialize, in some form or another, as Nissan’s upcoming GT-R.
Updated 10/29/2015: Nissan brought an updated version of the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo concept car at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Don’t get to excited though, as the only "updates" included a new Fire Knight red body color and a new expression of Nissan’s signature V-Motion grille. We do have to admit that the new red paint fits perfectly!

In some Asian markets, it is fashionable to give cars English names, but picking names that actually mean something or that don’t sound absurd to native speakers isn’t all that important. This is why there are cars with names like Deliboy, Detroit Fish, Life Dunk, Rural Nanny, and Mysterious Utility Wizard. These are all good for a chuckle, but now Nissan has raise the weirdness bar with a new concept called Teatro For Dayz. The big difference between this and the other absurdly named cars is that Nissan tells every detail of what it was doing in picking this name.
Teatro For Dayz goes beyond simple bad English. The word “teatro” is indeed Italian, meaning “theater,” and then there is the intentional misspelling of “days.” This gets into the reason why this concept exists, it is part of a long tradition of car companies clumsily trying to pander to young people. But Nissan is taking it so much further than ever before with this concept, and the press release even goes so far as to invent a new term for young people. This term is “share natives,” implying that they have grown up always talking about themselves on social media.

Preview day at the Tokyo Motor Show kicks off on Thursday, October 29th, and manufacturers are already unveiling some curious concepts. One such concept is the Nissan IDS Concept. On the outside, it looks like a stretched out hatchback, but on the inside, the car is more reminiscent of a shuttlecraft from Star Trek.
It doesn’t have wings or an interstellar propulsion engine, but it isn’t far off. The computer system built into the car has the latest artificial intelligence that allows the car to park itself, assess road hazards, identify pedestrians, and even compensate for driver error if needed. Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said, “Nissan Intelligent Driving improves a driver’s ability to see, think, and react. It compensates for human error, which causes more than 90 percent of all car accidents. As a result, time spent behind the wheel is safer, cleaner, more efficient, and more fun.”
The current world view is that self-driving cars will mean travel is going to get boring, but the IDS Concept is Nissan’s vision of what autonomous driving should be like, as we slowly move into the reality of self-driving cars. The IDS Concept is programmed to mimic the driver’s style of driving and preferences even when in autonomous driving mode. When the concept is in manual driving mode, the artificial intelligence alerts the driver of upcoming changes in traffic conditions, changes in weather, the driver’s schedule and even personal interests like favorite restaurants, tourist attractions or nearby events. On the outside, it is equipped with the latest LED technology that allows it to communicate with pedestrians. The outside of the vehicle will illuminate red to alert pedestrians that the AI is aware of their presence, and can even flash messages like “after you” to alert pedestrians that it is waiting for them to cross the road.

Retro cars have become a fad these days and automakers, like Nissan, have taken that to a whole new level by integrating all the elements we love about those classic cars into a modern-day concept.
The result of this adventurous project is the IDx Freeflow, which adheres to what the company describes as its three-box genesis: engine, passenger, and cargo areas.
Nissan says that there are no heritage influences on the IDx Freeflow, but somehow we can’t shake the feeling that the concept carries a styling homage to the first line of Skyline GT-Rs and Datsun 510 the company produced years ago.
Still, you have to appreciate how Nissan managed to give the IDx Freeflow an identity all its own. It is born out of a desire to create a vehicle that has a simple design with just the right amount of functions and accessories that are standard on cars to provide its own unique sense of build functionality and aesthetic specialty.
That’s probably one of the best ways to describe the Nissan IDx Freeflow because it really is a car that’s special in its own way.

Knowing full well what Toyota and Subaru have in the GT 86 and the BRZ, respectively, Nissan is determined to show the world that it can also produce a modern-day sports car based on one of its own iconic models.
The company will tell you that the creation of the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow was a result of its intention to create two very distinct models from the same vehicle. But don’t let that be the only reason, as it’s pretty evident that these two concepts are also being released as a response to the popular Toyota and Subaru sports coupes.
Nissan came up with the "IDx" tag in part to show how its ideals are reflected in the personality of the concepts, hence the ID acronym signifying "identification". For its own part, the "x" represents the variable and "values and dreams born through communication."
The result, as you can see, is a pretty wicked looking sports car that has traces of the Datsun 510 and the old Nissan Skyline, the godfather — so to speak — of the current GT-R supercar. Specifically, the IDx Nismo bears the racing dynamics of Nissan’s aftermarket division.
The Tokyo Motor Show opens its doors for the public in two weeks time. As we know, Nissan will make an exciting announcement at the show. Yes, it is the Nissan GT-R Nismo that debuts on November 19th, 2013. The company will also disclose the Nurburgring lap time set by the Nismo GT-R. But that’s not all, as Nissan will also showcase the Bladeglider concept.
Along with the concept car, Nissan will also reveal a concept prototype based on the Bladeglider, but toned down for actual production. The production version will have its sights set on attacking rival cars, like the Toyota GT 86 and Subaru BRZ. Andy Palmer- VP at Nissan told Motortrend that the Bladeglider will be the car for the young generation.
The origins of the Bladeglider concept can be traced back to the Nissan ZEOD RC racer, and that’s where the unconventionality begins. The designers of the Bladeglider concept describe it as "an extreme interpretation" of what a car can be. The thought behind the concept is to offer an affordable and appealing sports car to young people, according to Andy Palmer of Nissan.

At the beginning of 2011, Nissan unveiled the Leaf Nismo RC concept, offering up an "extreme" version for their electric car. Now, the company has taken it back a notch by presenting a new Nismo Concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show - right next to the Juke Nismo - that strips the racing qualities, but moves forward with the Nismo package.
The new Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept features an extreme body kit, including a front aero bumper, a rear under protector, rear diffuser, extended side sills, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The front bumper incorporates LED lighting which is arranged transversely to accentuate a sense of motion. Unfortunately, that’s where the modifications end, which isn’t unusual for an electric vehicle. The Nissan Leaf Nismo is still powered by front mounted electric drive motor that only outputs 80 of those kilowatts for a maximum output of 107 HP.
"Nissan LEAF has shown that zero emission mobility is no longer a dream but a reality. The Nismo Concept not only proves the hidden potential of Nissan LEAF but also adds even more excitement and energy to LEAF, delivering a guilt-free yet exhilarating driving experience that can be enjoyed by every car enthusiast," said Hideaki Watanabe, Corporate Vice President, Nissan Motor Company and head of the company’s electric vehicle business unit.
UPDATE 01/29/13: The Nissan Leaf NISMO has been green lighted for production, which should be good news for the struggling model. The only caveat is that the model will be available only in Japan with no performance enhancements.
Nissan is headed to the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show with the Juke Nismo - a concept car that offers a first glimpse of Nismo’s future. The vehicle that was designed to "inject some masculinity and dynamism into the small car market" is getting even more agile and aggressive with the addition of the kickass Nismo package.
The new Juke Nismo Concept will be distinguished by Nismo’s signature colors - pearl white with red highlights - and an extreme body kit that not only offers a sportier look but improves the car’s aerodynamics as well. The body kit includes revised bumpers in the front and rear, wider fenders, and sill side skirts. The grille pattern has also been changed and the tailgate spoiler has been modified with the addition of side elements to control airflow more efficiently. The concept will sit on a new set of 19-inch alloy wheels.
The interior has also been highly modified. Everything from the steering wheel, pedals, gauges, shifter knob, and door trims have been redesigned to provide greater involvement when driving. The sporty bucket seats are covered in leather and are highlighted by dials and needles illuminated in red.
"As the Concept shows, Nismo brings new levels of individuality to mainstream Nissan cars like Juke. The future for Nismo is to develop premium sports designs for an ever-widening range of customers," said Nismo President, Shoichi Miyatani.

Nissan’s fascination with electric car concepts cannot be understated. And now, the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show will host the eighth such concept from the Japanese automaker called the Pivo3.
You’ll probably recall that name from two previous incarnations - the original Pivo unveiled in 2005 and the Pivo2 which made an appearance in 2007 - but this time around, the Pivo3 highlights the latest in Nissan’s on-going passion and dedication to zero emission driving. The only difference between the Pivo3 and its two predecessors is that, according to Nissan, the Pivo3 is a more "realistic" preview of what their future electric car could potentially be.
Details on the concept’s powertrain remain a mystery, although we did get a good look at what the car looks like. The most noticeable thin about the Pivo3 is that it’s ridiculously small - length is less than 10 feet - and has a 1+2 seating configuration similar to, of all cars, the McLaren F1.
The Pivo3 also features side-view monitors, a camera-based Around View Monitor, and a new automated parking system that Nissan is calling “Automated Valet Parking,” which, as the name suggests, allows the Pivo3 to park by itself.
