Opel has just expanded its Astra line-up with the addition of a new sedan set to make its official debut at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. The new version will go on sale next to the standard Astra hatchback, the GTC, and the OPC version.

The sedan version of the Astra is heavily inspired by its hatchback brother in terms of its design, until you get to the rear end. The rear is characterized by the steeply raked rear screen, the integrated deck spoiler, and the broad sweep of the sculpted bumper. The car measures 4,658 mm long, 1,814 mm wide, and 1,476 in height, and its trunk space offers a capacity of 460 liters, 90 liters more than the five-door model.

As for the engine line-up, customers can initially choose between seven engines: four gasoline units ranging from 100 HP to 180 HP and three diesel engines going from 95 HP to 130 HP. Opel is also offering a Start/Stop system for the 1.7 CDTI ecoFLEX models that allows fuel consumption to go down to 3.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

They only focused on the rear? I don’t see anything that seems so great. However, it’s good to know that they are preparing powerful sedan.

I was expecting an upgrade, but not a downgrade. It seems that they had change the good looks before. They give attention on the performance of this sedan. That’s the only good I had read on this article.

Seriously, I don’t find it more impressive. This concept doesn’t even change, and it looks like an ordinary car that has no unique design.
