Who thought the hard-working Ram 1500 pickup could ever challenge the likes of Rolls-Royce or Bentley? Obviously, this is not stock a Ram 1500 and while the jury is still out on the way this thing looks, it’ll catch your attention with its peculiar name first and foremost.

Meet the Aznom Palladium, an Italian coachbuilder’s take on a luxo-barge it likes to call a “hyper-limousine.” That said, bear with us for specs and whatnot.

Tell me once again… what is this?

This is the 2021 Aznom Palladium; and we’re pretty aware that a name explanation is in order, so here we go. Aznom, for some reason, is Monza spelled backwards. We’re not sure if that means anything – other than the fact that the company is based in Monza, Italy – but Palladium does. Or at least there’s a rationale behind it.

Aznom says the name is a nod to Andrea Palladio, famous Italian architect that made a name for himself by designing luxurious mansions using the ancient Greek and Roman styles as base. Simultaneously, Palladium “recalls the rare and lustrous metal by the same name.” If they say so...

What’s certain is that the Aznom Palladium is not a sight to behold. In fact, it’s downright ugly. Which can be said about both the exterior and the interior, regardless of how luxurious the materials are. Opulence doesn’t equal class and this is the best proof you can get. Just take a look at that 12-inch Uconnect screen sitting on the center console.

Care to know what hides under the hood?

A twin-turbocharged 5.7-liter V-8 with 700 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of torque on tap. Sorry, but we’d rather get the Ram 1500 TRX than this monstrosity. Aznom says the Palladium goes from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 210 kph (130 mph).

The truckousine, as Carscoops calls it, needs a lot of stopping power because it tips the scales at 2,650 kilos or about 5,842 pounds. Said stopping power comes from a Brembo braking setup featuring six-piston calipers that bite into 408-mm discs in the front and four-piston calipers pressing on 380-mm discs in the rear.

We know you don’t want one, but…

Aznom wants to build a batch of 10 Palladiums. Price is undisclosed for the time being, but they claim buyers (expected to flock from China, Russia, and the Middle East mostly) will be able to customize every detail.

We don’t know about you, but we’d take customizing to such an extreme extent that we’d go for another car entirely. Maybe a proper Bentley or a Rolls-Royce, or even a Mercedes-Maybach for that matter.
