There is no dearth of high-end electric supercars and hypercars today. The paradigm shift to electrification has led us to witness some beautiful cars like the Rimac Nevera, the Pininfarina Battista, and even the Lotus Evija. The latest entrant to this list is from Italy called the Estrema Fulminea. The Fulminea isn’t just a smart-looking car; it is strong on performance, too. It can sprint from 0-200 mph in under 10 seconds and makes over 2,000 horses! Does it have your attention?

Estrema Fulminea – Exterior

The Fulminea looks as futuristic as you’d expect it to be. It looks stunning and exotic, just like most of the other supercars that have Italian roots. The design philosophy is based on four elements, according to the automaker – Romance, Elegance, Purity, and Balance. The face is not just similar or reminiscent of the Ferrari 458; it looks like a straight lift. The elongated daytime running lights look good, and there are two small ones in the wide opening at the bottom.

There are a lot of carbon fiber components all across the body. The front and the rear wings encompass the side profile too, thus giving a ‘lightning strike’ kind of a vibe. The rear looks equally stunning, thanks to the massive diffuser, the adjustable rear wing, and of course, those styling LED taillights. You can see the two vertically-slotted LED taillights, just like the DRLs on the face. The car also comes with butterfly doors. It looks like Estrema will offer the Fulminea in just one shade called "Azzurro Savoia". As for its footwear, the Fulminea rides on OZ racing wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires.

Estrema has paid attention to the car’s aerodynamics. There is an air intake under the hood that creates downforce for the front axle and an air intake behind the rear wing. There are some more massive ones on the sides, too, that let the hot air pass out during braking. It also comes with active aero elements such as front air intake, S-duct variable flow conveyer, and retractable rear wing.

The Fulminea measures 184.4 inches (4,683 mm) in length, 80.8 inches (2,052 mm) in width, and 45.2 inches (1,148 mm) in height. It weighs 3,307 pounds (1,500 kgs).

Estrema hasn’t revealed the interior yet, but has mentioned that the cabin “will have a clean, decise and yet sophisticated exclusive design. An elegant combination of the analog and digital world paired with the right sporty touch.”

The Fulminea comes with four electric motors – one mounted on each wheel – that produce 2,040 horses combined! Courtesy of this, the hypercar can sprint to 200 mph from rest in less than 10 seconds! The top speed, 0-60 mph times, etc., are still not revealed, but expect them to be just as impressive.

Estrema Fulminea – Battery and Range

The Estrema hypercar comes with a hybrid battery pack technology, the first car in the world to do so. The hybrid battery pack combined ultracapacitors with solid-state Li-ion cells in a single high-performance super-battery. BMW had stated that solid-state batteries are a long time away, but Estrema has teamed up with Abee Group to create a hybrid pack that is said to be 50- to 100-percent more efficient than the regular battery tech.

The Estrema Fulminea comes with a 100 kWh battery pack with a range of 323 miles. Back of the envelope calculations show this to be 3.23 miles per kWh. All the other factors and specs aside, this is surprisingly much lesser than the Lucid Air, which offers the best mile range per kWh – 4.58 miles. Also, the Lucid Air’s range is based on the EPA-estimated range, unlike the Fulminea’s WLTP rating, which is a lot more lenient than the EPA standards. To Estrema’s credit, though, the 100 kWh battery pack is quite light and weighs under 660 pounds.

The automaker also noted that the Fulminea can charge from 10- to 80-percent in under 15 minutes when connected to a DC fast charger.

Rimac Nevera

Rimac took three years to build the production version of the C_Two concept, but it was worth the wait. Christened the Nevera, this Croatian electric hypercar is an absolute monster. It comes with a quad-motor setup that puts out 1,914 horses and 1,741 pound-feet of twist combined. The front and rear wheels are each connected to a pair of single-speed gearboxes. It also features all-wheel torque vectoring.

It takes 1.85 seconds from 0-60 mph, 4.3 seconds from 0 to 100 mph, and 9.3 seconds from 0 to 186 mph. Estrema has mentioned 0-200 mph in under 10 seconds, so expect other figures to be on similar lines. The Nevera’s top speed is rated at 258 mph.

The Nevera comes with a 120 kWh battery pack that is good for 342 miles as per the WLTP cycle. Rimac will build just 150 examples of the Never and it is priced at €2 million a pop, which is approximately $2.4 million; similarly priced to the Fulminea.
