The best thing about electrification is how it opened up avenues for new companies to come and compete in the market. Everyone has to start from scratch, be it your mainstream automakers or new startups. The only difference is how much moolah they have and are willing to invest. Had there been electrification, we wouldn’t see companies like Rivian, Lordstown, Elation, or even Tesla for that matter, come to life.

We hear about a new EV start-up every other day, and today, it’s a company called Electra from Lebanon. Electra revealed its first EV called the Quds Rise sometime back. The EV looks sporty overall, but the ‘inspired’ grille on the face makes it look like it's pulled out of a kids’ movie. That aside, it seems an impressive attempt for a new company.

How Is The Electra Quds Rise On The Outside?

The Quds Rise has a retro vibe to it, courtesy of the rounded, chubby build. The wheel arches literally pop out beside the hood. There are faux air vents here. But hey, if Toyota can give it on the Supra, then let’s not give the Quds Rise a hard time about it. It rides on 18-inch forged aluminum wheels.

It even features butterfly doors and full LED headlights. The rear is a little off-beat and unconventional, but overall, this is a neat first attempt from the Lebanese company.

The EV measures 181.5 inches in length, 72 inches in width, and 52.4 inches in height. It will be offered in seven exterior shades:

-* Black Mate

-* Candy Red

-* Gun Metal

-* Lime Light

-* Sapphire Trance

-* Silver Leaf

-* Snow White

How Is The Electra Quds Rise On The Inside?

The car feels quite plush on the inside. It follows a minimalistic theme just like most EVs these days. The instrument cluster and the steering wheel boast sporty feels. On the center console is a massive 15.9-inch touchscreen system that will be the mitochondria of all the cabin functions. Some other features include an Automatic UV Disinfector and a 360-degree camera system.

The cabin is offered in six different themes, namely:

-* All Black

-* Black and Red

-* Blue and White

-* Black and White

-* Brown and Cream

-* Cerulean and Aegean

What Powers The Electra Quds Rise

Power is drawn from a 45 kWh battery pack that can deliver up to 279 miles on a full charge. It seems a little ambitious, but it seems within the reach because of its light build. The fiberglass body is underpinned on a ‘superlight aluminum chassis’ and thanks to this, the car weighs just 2,425 pounds. The Quds Rise is a peppy little car that can sprint to 62 mph from a standstill in five seconds. The top speed is limited to 102 mph.

Final Thoughts

Electra was founded by Jihad Mohammed four years back. This is the first car ever to be built completely in Lebanon. Electra is a team of 300 people and Jihad plans to bring this car on the international stage to take on the hotshot companies. He also has plans to install around 100 recharging stations connected to generators in Lebanon.

The Electra Quad Rise is expected to arrive at the showrooms in 2022. Production is slated to begin later this year. The company hopes to build 10,000 of these by next year. On the warranty front, the car will be offered with a 5-year/62,000-mile warranty.
