Peugeot Will Return to Le Mans With A 900+ Horsepower Hybrid
French automaker Peugeot has announced its return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a hybrid prototype. Powered by a gasoline-electric powertrain that generates up to 939 horsepower, the hybrid is being developed in cooperation with oil company Total, Peugeot’s historic motorsport partner. Peugeot will return to Le Mans in 2022, 10 years after its last race at Circuit de la Sarthe.
A Stronger, Faster Peugeot 508 May Well Be On Its Way
At the Paris Motor Show, Peugeot showcased the plug-in hybrid versions of the 3008 crossover and the 508 liftback and wagon. All three were showcased with a 1.6-liter, turbocharged, gasoline engine and dual electric motors that produced a combined output of almost 300 horsepower. If this wasn’t enough, Peugeot is now rumored to be working on electrified 508 ‘R.’
PSA To Electrify All Its New Models Launched From 2019
French Auto Group PSA has announced that it will be electrifying all the models launched from 2019 onward. All cars will either be fully-electric or hybrid. This applies to all the brands under the PSA Group, including Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Vauxhall, and Opel. PSA is one of the first automakers to announce the electrification process across its entire group range. The first one to do it was Volvo.
2017 Peugeot L750 R HYbrid Vision Gran Turismo
In 2013, Mercedes-Benz launched the AMG Vision Gran Turismo, a retro-inspired supercar developed for the launch of the Gran Turismo 6 video game. It was the first Vision GT car ever made and started a big thing that saw all major automakers bring their own concepts into the game. In all, no fewer than 21 Vision cars were unveiled for the Gran Turismo 6 until 2016. These came from 16 different carmakers, including BMW, Volkswagen, Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Mazda, Lexus, and SRT. Come 2017, and we’ve already seen five concepts unleashed for the new Gran Turismo Sport game, the latest of which is the Peugeot L750 R Hybrid.
The second Vision Gran Turismo concept coming from Peugeot, the L750 R HYbrid is actually an evolution of the L500 R HYbrid that saw the light of the Gran Turismo day in 2016. The new concept car has a more aggressive exterior with upgraded aerodynamics, as well as a more powerful hybrid drivetrain. The L750 R HYbrid is available for all 17 locations and many tracks in the Gran Turismo Sport video game and can be customized in any color. 2016 Peugeot L500 R HYbrid
It was 100 years ago that Dario Resta and his Peugeot L45 averages a speed of 83.89 mph and won the Indianapolis 500 race of 1916. That was only one of three victories that Peugeot managed to attain between 1913 and 1919 at the Indy 500. Now in 2016, Peugeot has announced the Peugeot L500 R Hybrid to pay tribute to such an accomplishment and the “Charlatans” team that made it possible. The concept is said to be a “futuristic interpretation of the Indy Spirit” and a “racing concept for intense driving sensations.”
Matthias Hossann, Peugeot’s Concept Car and Technological Advance Chief, said, “With Peugeot L500 R Hybrid we’re paying tribute to Peugeot racing exploits dating to the early 20th century. Inspired by this spirit of performance and innovation we wanted to convey a sculptural, elegant and technological view of the future of Peugeot motorsport.”
Let’s be honest, at first glance this concept is highly futuristic but gorgeous at the same time. It features strong character lines, muscular wheel arches, and an impressive livery. In short, Peugeot took its time developing this concept and it looks amazing for that reason. With a long hood and a short tail, and a low profile that has this thing sitting low to the ground, it could, in theory, be a preview of what race cars in the future will look like. Of course, we have no idea how the future will unfold, but let’s take a good look at Peugeot’s new concept and see just how Peugeot sees the future of race cars and their design.

PSA Launches New Electrification Solutions For Its Future Hybrid Cars
There is no denying it – hybrid and all-electric vehicles have made their mark on the automotive market and aren’t going away anytime soon. As such, every manufacturer is trying to get its own piece of the pie. PSA Group, the folks behind cars like the Peugeot 2008 and the Citroen C4, just presented its new strategy for electrification at the Innovation Day event earlier today. They are known as the Common Modular Platform and the Efficient Modular Platform.
Gilles Le Borgne, the Executive Vice President of research and development for PSA, said, “These next-generation hybrid and electric technologies will complement our range of internal combustion engines, thereby enabling PSA Group to offer its customers a diversified line-up of technologies that meet all of their mobility needs. This innovative strategy clearly demonstrates the Group’s commitment to global, sustainable solutions that will allow us to take on the energy transition challenge.”
The Efficient Modular Platform – dubbed EMP2 – will be used for compact and premium models and has already been introduced in the Citroen C4 Picasso and the Peugeot 308 back in 2013. Starting in 2019, the platform will be used to deploy the group’s first plug-in hybrid models. The plan includes SUVs and crossovers that will have electric four-wheel drive and up to 37 miles of all-electric range. The biggest advantage, however, will be that interior space won’t be compromised thanks to the design of the platform and battery location. Furthermore, PSA is claiming there will be efficiency gains of up to 40 percent in urban driving conditions.
The Common Modular Platform, dubbed CMP, was co-developed with Dongfeng Motors and is slated for use in compact city cars, compact SUVs, and core sedan models. Claims in the press release point to the development of multi-purpose electric vehicles with a range of up to 279 miles with one minute of charging providing up to 7.45 miles of range. According to PSA’s recent press release, the plan is to introduce four all-electric models by 2021, with the first one hitting showrooms as early as 2019.

Though the Peugeot 308 R Hybrid is just a concept car, it’s pretty amazing how quickly this performance hybrid stuff has begun to trickle down from hypercars to high-volume vehicles. With a combined output of 500 horsepower between a gas engine and two electric motors, the 308 Hybrid R has as much power as a 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and Peugeot could see this type of hybrid technology as a key to retaking its place on top of the very competitive French hot-hatch segment.
Peugeot dominated the European hot-hatch scene in the 1990s with cars like the 205 GTi and 106 Rallye. Fantastic cars by the accounts of our (older) counterparts in Europe, but then the company decided to refocus its efforts on building dull people-moving appliances that appeal more to accountants than Juha Kankkunen wannabes (In case that reference is a bit too obscure, Kankkunen won the WRC in a Peugeot 205 T16 in 1986). Since then, French compatriot rival Renault has become the go-to purveyor of fast, French hatchbacks. The question now is, can hybrid powertrains help Peugeot take back a genre it helped define?

Peugeot is gearing up for a hectic 2014 Paris Motor Show the only way it knows how. Weeks after announcing that it would display a “re-imagined” version of the Exalt Concept in Paris, the French automaker followed that up by releasing details surrounding its other Paris-bound prototype, the Quartz Concept. Unlike the Exalt Concept sedan, the automaker developed the Quartz Concept to serve as a preview of its SUV lineup.
That’s basically the purpose of the Quartz Concept, although it would be unfair to dismiss it as nothing more than a showcase concept of future models. On its own, this coupe-crossover has a lot going for it, including an aggressive body that’s highlighted by not one, but two rear spoilers.
It would be interesting to see how Peugeot approaches the Quartz Concept in the future. We all know how its important for the French brand to finally stake a claim to the ever-growing coupe-crossover market in the UK and the world.

So BMW and Peugeot Citroën (PSA) were once a happy couple, just humming along in a deal that would help bring more hybrid and EV technology to both brands. All was well and good, and the relationship was blossoming into a mutually beneficial deal with no signs of issues. That was until General Motors decided to start flirting with the French automaker.
PSA decided that the grass was indeed greener on the other side and formed a deal with GM to increase its stake in producing vehicles with the American automaker. This apparently is a fatal blow to the deal between BMW and PSA, but BMW isn’t letting PSA get away Scott-free. Part of the BMW-PSA deal was that the two automakers would jointly build a factory to manufacture the hybrid and EV technology and BMW is holding PSA to its promises by demanding €50 million, according to media outlets in France.
With the automotive world in Europe seeing the same types of struggles that the U.S. auto industry went through just a few years ago, €50 million is a lot of money for PSA to pony up. PSA hasn’t yet issued a response to Bimmer’s claim, but chances are this is ultimately the fatal blow to the once-promising BMW-PSA deal.
We’re curious if the upcoming i8 hybrid was secretly a part of the hybrid technology that the two were planning to share. If so, this could be a key reason that BMW has been eerily quiet about the much-anticipated i8. We’ll keep an eye on this situation and let you know what comes of it.
We caught a glimpse of the Peugeot Onyx Concept a few weeks ago on Peugeot’s Facebook page. Peugeot, however, chose to be a little coy and not actually release the information, but we managed to peg it down as the Onyx.
Peugeot has now decided to spill the beans about its fancy new concept joining it at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, the Onyx Hybrid. Peugeot has released more detailed specifications and some pretty detailed pictures of this new supercar. And this car is much more impressive than any of the initial rumors could have ever alluded to.
Though the press release shows us no indication of when Peugeot plans to officially unveil the Onyx to the public, we can safely assume that it will be at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Even without the official public reveal, all of the information and images that Peugeot has released, we can now pass a detailed review of Peugeot’s supercar concept on to you.
UPDATE 09/17/2012: Peugeot has touched base with us to say that the Onyx’s gasoline engine puts out 1160 Nm (855 pound-feet) of torque and the electric motor puts out 280 Nm (206 pound feet) of torque for a combined 1,061 pound feet of peak torque. They also let us know that Onyx will not ever be produced (duh), but it is rather just a future styling and technology piece.

Peugeot joined the battle of hybrids and presented its new 508 RXH hybrid at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new vehicle represents Peugeot’s next step into the world of green technologies and continues the road opened by its predecessors.
The 508 RHX is based on the 508 touring and is equipped with a hybrid system which consists of a 2.0 liter HDi engine paired with a 38 hp electric motor, offering a total output of 200 hp.
The car is pretty hard to be put in a distinct category as is basically a hybrid estate with the abilities of an SUV which puts it on the same line with models like the Audi A4 Allroad or Volkswagen Passat Alltrack.
The new Peugeot 508 RXH was designed for those who search for a green vehicle but aren’t ready to sacrifice space, comfort and utility.

After introducing its sedan and station wagon models, Peugeot has unveiled the new 508 RXH a few months before the SUV’s official debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
This new model combines a 2.0-liter HDi engine with a 38 HP electric motor for a total output of 200 HP and CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km. The car’s diesel-electric HYbrid4 - as found in Peugeot’s 3008 Hybrid4 - will deliver a total of 208 HP and a peak torque of 331 lbs-ft. It will be combined with a four-wheel drive system and will deliver a fuel economy of 67.2 mpg.
Peugeot has refined the 508 model by widening and raising it to create a smooth and refined SUV. It will be distinguished by LED lights that are visible during the day and night, and "give an impression of three vertical ’lion claws’. The new SUV will also feature a line of distinctive colors and luxurious materials, like the premium quality interior and upholstery.
The fancy aspect will also be covered with a range of technology outfitted for the 508 RXH. The model will be equipped with an Open & Go Keyless system, electric front seats, a head up display, 18" wheels, a panoramic glass roof, dark-tinted acoustic laminated side windows, and the latest generation audio and satellite navigation units.
The 508 RXH will be unveiled as a world premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 2011, and will be on sale in Spring 2012.
About a month ago, Peugeot came out and introduced their 2011 race car, the new 908 HDi FAP LMP1 race car.
Turns out, the French automaker may have more than one race car that’s set to compete in one of the most important races of the calendar year. Much to our surprise, the French automaker came to the Geneva Motor Show and unveiled another version of their new LMP1 bad boys, the 908 HYbrid4 LMP1 racer.
Dressed in white and black livery, the 908 HYbrid4 comes with the same powerplant as the 908 HDi FAP, except that on top of the 3.7-liter V8 engine, the former will also be carrying a hybrid system that comes with an added ’assist power’ of 80 horsepower.
After spending some quality time in Geneva, the French automaker will be bringing the 908 HYbrid4 out on the test track to further work out the kinks in time for the official pre-Le Mans 24 Hours test day on April 24th, 2011.
The work is far from over for the folks over at Peugeot so we’ll just have to wait and see how the team progresses with the testing and development of their newly revealed 908 HYbrid4 racer.

The auto industry appears to be a land of partnerships, as a new one seems to pop up every day. The newest agreement comes from BMW and Peugeot, who have signed an agreement to jointly work on a new hybrid vehicle.
The two companies will work together in the effort to develop hybrid components for a front-wheel drive vehicle. This is no surprise since BMW has been discussing the possibility of a small front-wheel drive vehicle for the U.S market for some time now. Although we have had no official announcements on a new hybrid system, this new partnership could be just what the doctor ordered.
There is a chance that Mini might get in on this sharing effort, seeing as how Toyota is preparing an onslaught of new hybrid vehicles, including a Yaris-sized vehicle.
Peugeot have yet to make any noise on the possibility of a front-wheel drive hybrid, as most of their hybrids use batteries to turn the rear wheels, while the fronts are powered by a regular petrol engine.
This isn’t the first time that BMW and Peugeot have linked up, as the two have been working on engines for years. In February, the two signed an agreement to jointly work on a four-cylinder powerplant, which will be able to meet EU 6 requirements.
Next to the EX1 concept, Peugeot will also present at the Paris Auto Show the HR1, a concept that combines in the same vehicle a city runaround, a coupe and a SUV. The HR1 is a hybrid vehicle that features Peugeot’s latest HYbrid4 technology, with a new three cylinder 1.2 liter THP petrol engine at the front and a rear electric motor, that both deliver a total of 147 HP. The concept delivers a combined fuel consumption of only 3.5 liters/100 km and CO2 emissions of only 80 g/km.
The design language features flowing flanks showcasing large wheels and a double bubble on the rear windscreen reminiscent of the curves of the RCZ Coupe. The interior gets ergonomically placed controls, a small steering wheel, and a “Head Up Display” allowing information to be seen without the driver taking their eyes off the road.
Another interesting feature is a new "movement recognition" system that allows the driver to scroll through functions and select available settings with a simple movement of the hand.

Peugeot has unveiled the new3008 HYbrid4, the world’s first diesel "full hybrid" vehicle. The new model’s hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0 liter 163 bhp HDi diesel engine and a 37 bhp electric motor. It offers a Combined Drive Cycle fuel consumption of 74.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 99g/km. The engine is mated to an electronically-controlled manual six-speed sequential gearbox.
To operate the diesel-powered, full hybrid vehicle, the driver has a choice between four modes: Auto, ZEV (Zero Emissions Vehicle), Four Wheel Drive, and Sport. The Auto mode is the most fuel efficient because it utilizes both the diesel engine and the electric motor. The ZEV mode is obviously used when the driver wants to utilize the electric motor by itself. In this mode, the diesel engine will only kick in when the vehicle accelerates quickly. The FWD drive allows the diesel engine to power the front wheels while the electric motor powers the rear wheels. Last, but not least, is the Sport mode. This mode is ideal when the driver wants to make "quicker gear changes at higher engine speeds than normal mode".
The Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 also comes equipped with a Stop & Start system. This system allows the diesel engine to "rest" while the vehicle is at a standstill. The vehicle can then be smoothly and effortlessly started back up, all while improving fuel consumption and emissions.

Peugeot’s new SR1 hybrid roadster concept is scheduled to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, which is still in March, but as far as the French carmaker is concerned, a little pre-emptive teasing of the SR1 wouldn’t hurt anyone.
A few weeks after releasing the first batch of photos of the SR1 hybrid, Peugeot has followed that up with a promo video of the car, complete with laser lights, techno music, and a touch of digital effects here and there.
The SR1’s noticeably sleeker design – a stark change from what Peugeot is known for – is a testament to the brand’s attempt in streamlining a new and edgier direction for the company, which, as far as we’re concerned, is a welcome change for a car brand that hasn’t exactly wowed us with their car’s aesthetic designs.
As far as we’re concerned, the sexy SR1 hybrid roadster concept is definitely a step in the right direction.
A second concept to be revealed by Peugeot at the Paris Auto Show (next to the RC) will be the Prologue concept car. Anticipating future trends, the Prologue proposes an innovative combination of ideas at a number of different levels: its architecture, its style, its interior ambiance, its modularity, its original high-tech equipment and also its new generation hybrid technology.
In fact, thanks to this technology, this 200 bhp car offers unexpected levels of performance combined with significantly reduced CO2 emissions: 109 g/km in the combined cycle, or zero in electric only mode!
Peugeot will unveil at the final round of the 2008 Le Mans Series at Silverstone the 908 HDi FAP equipped with hybrid power featuring a kinetic energy recovery system.
The 908 HY can be powered in one of three ways: electric mode only, internal combustion engine only, a combination of the two.
The system features three key elements: a 60kW gear-driven electric motor-generator which takes the place of the conventional starter motor, batteries which permit recovered energy to be stored in 600 lithium-ion cells divided into 10 battery packs and an electronic power converter which controls the flow of energy between the batteries and the motor-generator.
Peugeot uses the designation "RC" to show where it will be taking its designers in the future. This latest car is certainly falls under this catagory considering the actual name is "RC..." Just like the Peugeot RC concept cars of 2002 and the 908 RC of two years ago, this RC is the future of Peugeot. Although darkness distorts these pictures, the car’s long hood and sloping roofline are still clearly visible.
Powered by a 313 hp gas/electric hybrid engine delivering CO2 emissions of 109 g/km in the combined cycle or ZERO in electric mode. According to Peugeot, "the RC… is an accessible and versatile car, with four doors, four seats and a highly innovative hybrid architecture”.
It believes the eco-efficient RC... is a car that combines the combining respect for the environment with driving pleasure.
We expect more details about the car to be coming soon before the official viewing at the Paris Auto Show in October.
France, and also Europe, have undertaken to develop the biofuel option with ambitious objectives in the short term: to encourage the use of biofuels as from now, in order to reduce the proportion of fossil fuels used. To achieve this, a new fuel called superethanol (E85), consisting of a mixture of 15 % lead-free petrol and 85 % agricultural ethanol, is progressively being made available at service stations all over France. The distribution of this fuel at competitive prices for customers is now possible thanks to exemption from a portion of the taxes on petrol.
The 307 CC HybrideHDi illustrates in the most attractive way Peugeot’s commitment to the protection of the environment through reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Associating HDi FAP Diesel engine technology with that of a hybrid power train, this technological demonstrator is effectively a new step on the path to ultra-low fuel consumption.
