Just recently we showed you how Peugeot was using a painfully limber dancer to help sell its newest vehicle, the 208. Peugeot has now released that there has been a new model of the 208 that has been in production since it became a concept. This new model is the 208 R2 Rally Car.
What’s better is that Peugeot is not only using this model as the replacement for the 207 Super 2000, but the French automaker is also offering this FIA-approved rally car for sale to the general public. That’s right, if you are looking to get into rally racing, you can walk into a Peugeot dealership, actually the Peugeot Sport Racing Shop, lay down a large sum of money and walk out owning a “rally ready” hatchback.
With some certainty we can say that the chances of the 2013 208 R2 Rally Car having the exact same specifications as Peugeot’s actual rally model are very low. Having said that, this model comes already certified and you can jump into lower level rally races and possibly take home some cash prizes.

Top Gear’s 17th season flew by just like that, didn’t it?
The sixth and final episode aired over the weekend, and unlike the past episodes, this one more than lived up to the expectations. Richard Hammond got the show off to a promising start with a great segment about the Lamborghini Aventador. From there, the show picked up some steam with a pretty hilarious segment featuring Jeremy Clarkson and James May as they embarked on an electric-car crusade around town. Some unforeseen circumstances resulted in a few mishaps, but all in all, the duo managed to make the most out of their respective cars - Clarkson had the Nissan Leaf while May had the Peugeot Ion - to finish their adventure in one piece. But even that wasn’t enough to convince the two about the potential of electric cars in the future.
Fittingly, the final segment of season 17 took a more serious turn with an inspiring story about a Cross Country racing team in Wales for disabled British soldiers. It’s a humbling way to end a very interesting season and puts into perspective what the human spirit is capable of accomplishing despite the challenges that seemingly lies in front of it.

The RCZ Asphalt LE will be powered by the standard 1.6-liter THP petrol engine producing 200 HP and 188 lb-ft of torque. This power is good for a 0-60 mph sprint time of 7.6 seconds.
UPDATE 08/29/11: Peugeot has announced that in addition to the new HX1 Concept, their booth at the Frankfurt Motor Show will also carry the RCZ Asphalt Limited Edition. The special edition RCZ was introduced back in July, but will only make its public debut in Frankfurt in the coming weeks. Be on the look out for the car because, according to Peugeot, only 75 models will be released.
Peugeot UK is thinking that if they attach a name that has the word "sport" in it, that it would change the look of their little hatchback. We’re not sure if they succeeded, but we give them an A for effort. Their project is the special edition 207 Sportium and it will be offered with a choice of either a VTi 95 Euro 5 petrol engine or Peugeot’s new HDi 92 Euro 5 diesel engine, plus a number of little treats to sport up the vehicle.
The 207 Sportium will be offered with power steering, reach and rake adjustable steering, six airbags, remote control central locking with deadlocks, and electric front windows – “one touch” for the driver. As far as acronyms go, the 207 will come with a radio/ CD player, ABS, EBFD, and EBA. Exterior sporty features will include front fog lights, chrome effect finish to the front grille, colour-coded body side mouldings (including rear bumper), Sportium interior pack, and dark tinted rear window / rear side glass.
