This Radio-Controlled Ford F450 Dually Is The Workhorse of the RC World
Electrification has struck the pickup truck segment, but heavy-duty trucks are yet to be powered by batteries. However, CEN Racing has ‘developed’ an electric F-450 and we are loving it. It comes with all the heavy-duty goodies you’d expect, like a four-wheel-drive system, dually-rear-wheel setup, all-terrain tires, etc. But, the catch is that it is one-tenth the size of the actual truck. Say what?
This Chinese Rip-off of the Ford F-150 Raptor Screams Communist Privilege
It is one thing to be inspired by a product, and another to copy a product. Unfortunately, some Chinese automakers fall under the second category. We’ve seen ripped-off versions of Minis, Teslas, BMWs, and the latest one to join that ‘flattered’ list is the Ford F-150 Raptor. What we see here is not a Ford F-150 Raptor modified by some tuner who has slapped its badge on it. This truck is a production-version vehicle from Foton. Foton’s latest pickup truck called the Da Jiang Jun is nothing but an F-150 Raptor face with some lackluster mills under the hood.
2021 Ford Ranger Tremor
Customers in the U.S. have been craving the Ranger Raptor since it was announced for other markets. Ford has denied giving the pleasure so far, but there is news of the Ranger Raptor finally heading Stateside when the 2022 Ranger arrives. Since that is still some time away, the Blue Oval has decided to give us a taste of what to expect by introducing the Tremor off-road package for the mid-size pickup truck. While it is no Raptor, it is a lot more capable than the existing FX4 off-road package. Ford has priced the package at $4,290, but the catch is that is won’t be available on all the trims.
Mopar Launches Retractable Center-Mounted Bed Step for Ram 1500 Trucks
Pickup trucks have been around for ages now. Even after being thoroughly abused, these workhorses refused to die. With changing times, pickup trucks became more than just people and luggage haulers and started being infused with creature comforts and even some performance upgrades. One thing, however, that remained the same was the pickup bed and its utility. But, not too long ago, Ram revolutionized this by introducing a MultiFunction Tailgate that was a simple transformation but made a whole lot of difference. GM followed, and now Ford is working on something similar as well.
While it was practical and made a lot of sense, climbing into the bed with the swing doors open was still a task. Now Ram and Mopar have introduced a retractable, bed-mounted step that solves this issue.
Ford F-150 Intrepid Supertruck by Mil-Spec
Mil-Spec Automotive is known to turn civilian Hummers to monstrous beasts. But the company has worked on trucks as well, especially the Ford F-150. This time, the company again laid its hands on the world’s best-selling truck to give it a twist of its own. The last time the company played around with one, it gave the truck steroids and bumped up the power figures to 500 horses. This time, the Michigan-based company upped the ante and tuned the truck to make 675 ponies! Called the Intrepid F-150 Supertruck, there are a whole lot of other changes that make this Ford F-150 one-of-a-kind.
2021 Ram 1500 and Heavy Duty Limited Night Edition
Since most of the focus this year has been on the Ram 1500 TRX, the other trucks had taken a backseat in terms of updates and upgrades. However, Ram decided to throw in a little something for the 2021 model year. So it introduced a new ‘Limited Night Edition’ for the 1500 and the Heavy Duty trucks. These are pretty much just cosmetic upgrades, but well, something is better than nothing!
New Info On the Chevy Silverado ZR2 Proves It Won’t Compete With the Ram 1500 TRX or Ford F-150 Raptor
Full-size performance off-road trucks are picking up heat lately and it has piqued the interest of truck manufacturers and aftermarket companies alike. There was just one significant production-truck – the Ford F-150 Raptor – in this niche until recently, but Ram joined the fray with the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. We knew that Ram was working on the Raptor-killer even since it unveiled the TRX concept back in 2016, but there was also news about Chevy working on a product to take on these two.
However, Muscle Cars and Trucks has now reported that what we thought would be Chevy’s offering to the segment is just an off-road truck that won’t go up against the Raptor and the TRX.
2021 Ram 1500 TRX Mammoth 6x6 by Hennessey
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX took the automotive world by a storm. Powered by a V-8 Hellcat engine that makes over 700 horses, this big, bulky truck takes just 4.5 seconds to hit the 60 mph mark. Just when you thought this couldn’t get any better, Hennessey decided to throw in a surprise. The aftermarket company has announced a 6x6 conversion of the “Quickest, Fastest and Most Powerful Mass-produced Truck in the World”. Called the Mammoth 6x6, Hennessey will only build three examples of this 1,200-horsepower beast and sell it at half-a-million bucks a pop. God bless Hennessey.
The first-generation Nissan Titan was a bold, brash, revolutionary pickup. Back in 2003, it marched into Detroit’s stronghold with a monster 5.6-liter V8 engine — making a then-mighty 300 horsepower — and an aggressive, head-turning design. It was the first and last time Nissan set out to make a class-leading full-size pickup truck. Nearly two decades later, the current Titan hasn’t changed dramatically under the skin or under the hood.
These days, it’s Ram that’s making waves. In the famously brand-loyal segment, Ram started winning market share with the 2009 model’s unusually smooth ride. It continued its luxury focus by introducing an extra-posh interior in the current generation, which arrived as a 2019 model. Smooth, quiet, elegantly finished, and filled with advanced technology, the current Ram 1500 is a master of civility while still offering commendable capability. The 2020 model also marks the return of a capable yet fuel-efficient “EcoDiesel” engine.
But even if Nissan isn’t making headlines anymore, it never stopped making Titans. It introduced the second-generation Titan as a 2017 model, and it followed up with new features, upgraded infotainment, and some mechanical updates for 2020. We recently spent back-to-back weeks in the updated Titan and an EcoDiesel-equipped Ram 1500. Here’s what we learned about these two trucks.
Be Prepared to Overpay For the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor With a V-8
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX (unofficially AKA the Rebel) was a proverbial shot toward Ford, and it hit the Raptor right in the face. Where Ford thought it would continue to dominate the off-road truck market with the F-150 Raptor, Ram took years to develop something that was able to impressively compete, and it even comes with a Hellcat V-8 engine under the hood with nearly double the power of the F-150 Raptor’s puny little V-6. Within days of the TRX’s debut, Ford had a Shelby-powered F-150 Raptor on the road, which is intended to be a shot back at Ram, but a new report paints a slightly different picture.
Have You Ever Wondered What A Land Rover Defender Would Look Like As A Pickup Truck?
The Land Rover Defender is a capable off-roader with a lot of off-road tech and equipment fused with a conventional, boxy design. Even though it has all the characteristics to shine as a pickup truck, don’t expect it to happen any time soon.
However, that doesn’t mean that enthusiasts can’t imagine what it looks like. A rendering artist, Andrew Alewine, uploaded an image of the Defender imagined as a full-size pickup truck. Do you think it looks the part to take on the likes of the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado?
Let’s All Hope that the Ford F-150 Electric Pickup Doesn’t Look Like This
The three biggest launches of this year – Ford F-150, Ford Bronco, Ram TRX – are already out, so it looks like rendering artists don’t have a lot of unseen products to work on. There is one, however, that we haven’t seen to date except for the camouflaged examples – the electric F-150. But, since it is expected to be based on the 2021 F-150, there aren’t a whole lot of wild renderings of the electric truck. However, one artist decided to let his creative juices flow and came up with a design that seems to be heavily inspired by the Tesla Cybertruck. Gosh, we hope Ford doesn’t get any idea from it.
