The 911->ke282 Targa came, and we loved what we saw. With 350 horsepower and 287 pound-feet of torque in tow, however, there was lots of room to grow. According to sources in the know, the 911 Targa Turbo will make its debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show->ke228.

This means that the removable-top sports car->ke506 is primed to receive a 520-horsepower, 3.8-liter flat-six engine, and may even hit 360 horsepower if Porsche gives the Targa treatment to the Turbo S model. Now this is what we have been waiting for!

Corvette Stingray Z06

The new Corvette Stingray Z06 made headlines at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, as it rolled in packing a mean punch from its LT4 6.2-liter, V-8 engine. Packing at least 625 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque, the new Z06 will have nearly 100 horsepower more than the 911 Turbo Targa. Add to that the fact that the Z06 will likely hold well over 1 G on the skid pad, and you have a nice alternative to the Porsche.

Keep in mind, however, that the 911 Targa Turbo will likely be a far better road car than the Corvette Z06, but the price difference may make up the difference.

Porsche 911 Targa

The Porsche 911 Targa rolled in to no one's surprise, as we saw it out testing plenty of times and even saw leaked images of it What really amazed me was the complex top-removal process where the rear glass tilts upward and the center of the roof folds under the rear glass. We think Porsche learned its lesson after buyer complained about the sliding-glass targa top on the last 911 Targa.

The Targa is based on the 911 4 and 4S , so it carries a 3.4-liter engine that pumps out 350 horsepower and 287 pound-feet of torque. The engine mates to either a manual transmission or the legendary PDK transmission.
