Porsche is honoring Belgian racing legend Jacques Bernard “Jacky” Ickx with a special edition 911 Carrera 4S called the Belgian Legend Edition. Limited to just 75 units — one for each year of Ickx’s life — the 911 Carrera 4S Belgian Limited Edition comes with exclusive touches to the exterior and interior. It's also the first special edition to spawn from the 992-gen Porsche 911.

The special edition model will only be available in Belgium at the initiative of Belgian Porsche importer D’leteren. No pricing details have been released, but expect the 911 Carrera 4S Belgian Limited Edition to sell for more than the €131,381 starting price of the Carrera 4S Coupe in Belgium.

What is the 2020 Porsche 911 Belgian Legend?

Jacques Bernard “Jacky” Ickx won his fair share of races, none more impressive than him coming out victorious the 24 Hours of Le Mans a staggering six times. Four of those six victories came behind the wheel in a Porsche race car so it’s only fitting that the German automaker pay tribute to the legendary race car with a special edition 992-generation 911 Carrera 4S that’s dedicated exclusively to Ickx’s career.

The special edition Porsche features many exclusive touches, including a unique paint finish that serves as an homage to the blue and white helmet that Ickx’s used during his stellar racing career. The model also benefits from several add-ons provided by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and more exclusive details in the interior. As far as 'special edition' models go, the 911 Carrera 4S Belgian Legend Edition fits that bill to a tee.

2020 Porsche 911 Belgian Legend Unique Features

The Porsche 911 Belgian Legend Edition lives up to its special edition billing in so many ways. Not only does it pay tribute to one of motor racing’s greatest racers, but it also happens to be the first special edition model of the 992-generation Porsche 911.

A big part of the 911 Carrera 4S Belgian Legend Edition’s appeal stems from those who were involved in creating the special edition sports car. Experts from Style Porsche, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, and even Belgian Porsche importer D’leteren all played a role in providing the 911 Carrera 4S with enough exclusive nods and details that justify its billing as a special edition model.

The color is rich and dark in its 'blueness.' We don’t often get to see this particular shade of blue in a Porsche model, and that’s a shame. The color is incredible to the eyes, especially when you also see it on the 20- and 21-inch Carrera Classic alloy wheels with the white accents adding breadth to its design. The two-tone color scheme looks great on the 911 Belgian Legend Edition, but Porsche didn’t just throw these two colors together randomly. The blue-and-white color scheme of the special edition 911 Carrera 4S is a nod to Ickx’s blue and white helmet.

Fancy colors aside, the 911 Carrera 4S Belgian Legend Edition also comes with bespoke badging on the driver’s side B-pillar, showcasing Ickx’s signature and the Belgian flag joining it. There are no aerodynamic tweaks to the special edition 911, though, between the color setup and the exclusive badges, there’s probably no need for any aero improvements in this particular 911 Carrera 4S.

It starts at the doors where the carbon used for the sill guards carry the “Belgian Legend Edition” lettering in case someone needs to always be reminded of the coupe’s exclusive stature. The seats are special, too, thanks in part to its 18-way adjustability. The headrests also come with “911” logos and over at the back of the seats are Pebble Gray piping and leather trim, adding another layer of exclusivity to a special edition model that’s already dripping in model-specific touches.

The special nods don’t end there, either. The central armrest is wrapped in fancy leather, though, more importantly, it also carries a facsimile version of Ickx’s autograph. The racer’s facsimile signature can also be found on the key fob, which, by the way, is finished in the same “X Blue” color as the body of the sports car.

The automaker arrived at that specific production number in honor of each of the years that Ickx has been alive. It’s another cool tribute to the legendary racer. Unfortunately for us in the U.S., the 911 Belgian Legend Edition isn’t headed to the U.S. market anytime soon. In fact, it’s not headed in any market other than Belgium where each of the 75 units will go up on sale for a price that starts at €131,381.

2020 Porsche 911 Belgian Legend Performance Specs

As such, the special edition sports coupe is still powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that produces 444 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 391 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. The model is fitted with an eight-speed PDK transmission, which sends power to all four wheels. This allows the 3,450-pound Carrera 4S to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 190 mph. Throw in a Sport Chrono Package and that acceleration time drops to 3.4 seconds. Top speed, on the other hand, remains at 190 mph.
