Very few high-performance carmakers have a heritage as proud as Porsche, especially when it comes to the company’s pride and joy - the 911. It’s no surprise, then, that plenty of tuners are enthusiastic about reimagining the 911, and DMC is one of the latest examples. The Dusseldorf-based tuner is currently working on a complete package for the Porsche 992 Carrera, the visual part of which is now complete brings back some of Porsche’s signature elements that harken back to the 997 GT3 RS.

We have a wealthy Chinese individual to thank for inquiring about DMC’s 997-inspired treatment for the 992 Carrera. The tuner from Dusseldorf obliged by revealing the visual aspect of their package, which gives the current Porsche 911 a tall rear wing and a ducktail rear spoiler, inspired by older 911 models.

The rear wing, in particular, is styled after the one found on the 2006 Porsche 997 GT3 RS.} Largely believed to be the last pure Porsche 911, the 997, especially in GT3 RS form, quickly became a modern classic. It is worth noting that, on the 992, the wing has different mounting points, which is why the “necks” of the wing are positioned more outwards, compared to a 997 GT3 RS.

The ducktail rear spoiler is another iconic design element, from older 911s. One of the latest cars to feature it was the limited-edition 997 Sport Classic,} of which only 250 units were made, and shared the drivetrain of the Porsche 997 GTS.

It is worth mentioning that this isn’t the finished version of DMC’s package and the aforementioned parts are not in their final form, hence it’s called the 911 Carrera GT3 RS 97 Concept Study. DMC’s next step with regards to the 992’s visuals will be to 3D print the original 997 GT3 RS rear wing and the ducktail spoiler and recreate the original design of both elements, as the ones seen on the images are, more or less, placeholders.

The rear wing will also be adjustable, like on the 997 GT3 RS, which would allow for different settings that favor street or track driving. It goes without saying that the tall rear wing and ducktail spoiler will increase drag, slowing the car down, at high speeds, but in theory, it should provide better stability, especially during high-speed cornering.
