Porsche was founded back in 1931, and 20 years later, on November 1st, 1951 it started to sell cars on the Australian market. The first car introduced to the Australians was the Porsche 356. Now, 70 years later, Porsche marks the event with the launch of the special 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition - a car inspired, of course, by the 356.

The model is based on the 911 GT3 with Touring Package and it is the first special edition ever created by Porsche for the Australian market.

What's special about the Porsche 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition?

The 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition is design collaboration between Style Porsche design team, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur customization department and Porsche Cars Australia.

The model will be built in limited numbers, and even if Porsche didn't offer any information on these numbers, we assume that 70 units is the right number. Also, each unit will be painted in a new customized color developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

While Porsche did not offer any other information on this special edition, it did announce it will feature "various unique exterior and interior design features to celebrate this year’s significant milestone." Looking at the pictures we can spot a "70 Years Porsche Edition" badge on rear window, the side sill plates and above the glove box, and the "70" logo embroidered on the armrest.

We don't expect any changes to be made under the hood, so the 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition will most likely get the same naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine that delivers 500 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph should be made in the same 3.9 seconds, while top speed should remain at 196 mph.

Prices will be announced at a later date.
