Porsche ended production for the 997 Turbo Cabriolet back in 2012, having replaced it with the current generation 991. But, even if it has been close to four years since we last saw the 997 Turbo Cabriolet, German tuner Wimmer RS still took time to build an impressive kit for the previous-generation 911. If you think about it, any kit that promises up to 840 horsepower of performance is incredible, even if the model has been gone for a long time.
That’s what we have here with this kit from Wimmer. It’s not one of those overblown kits that come with a grocery list of aerodynamic components and interior upgrades. In fact, it has neither of those things. But, anybody who does avail of this program will have no trouble accepting the absence of these items because the engine upgrade that it does have has the capacity to bring the car’s performance capability to a whole new stratosphere.
Think this Wimmer kit is dated? Let me be the first to tell you that you’re not going to feel that way once you step inside a 977 Turbo Cabriolet with this program firmly entrenched in it. On the aesthetic side, it even has a unique body wrap that’ll ensure that all eyes will be glued to this 977 Turbo Cabriolet when it’s on the road.
There are a lot of things to like about this program for the 997 Turbo Cabriolet by Wimmer RS. I’m sure those who end up getting it will have no problems agreeing with that sentiment.

When the 2007 GT3 997 hit the streets, it bore the most powerful atmospheric engine Porsche had ever created. With 415 horsepower on tap from a howling 3.6-liter, flat-six motor that revs all the way a lofty 8,400 rpm, there’s plenty of straight-line speed. Complimenting this is a suspension setup that’s clearly well designed for attacking split times. However, that ferocity on the track belies the GT3’s docility around town. The amount of practicality Porsche managed to get away with in the 997 is quite surprising, given the pure performance intentions behind the car’s design. While not necessarily a daily driver, the 997 is still capable of picking up a gallon of milk without completely curdling one’s innards. But really, who cares about all that? This speed weapon from Stuttgart is beyond such menial tasks. Instead, owners should shower it with full–throttle salutes, at-limit cornering, and expensive go-faster parts.
Clearly, the current owner of this particular 997 agrees.
Listed for sale at Porsche enthusiast website Rennlist, this GT3 is simply dripping with high-end modifications. It’s also an award winner, collecting such accolades as Car and Driver’s “45 Cars You Must See from SEMA 2014”, and “Best Aftermarket Porsche” from DrivingLine. And with only 14,450 miles on the odometer, it’s practically brand new.
The owner clearly picked a good platform for his project. The 997 is one of the best-selling Porsches of all time. Even renowned Porsche-hater Jeremy Clarkson can’t deny it’s tantalizing appeal.

The Porsche 997 GT3 may have already been replaced by a slew of newer models, including the current generation 991 GT3, but sports cars like this are the rare kind that really lasts the test of time.
That’s why a tuning company like Cam Shaft went out of its way to give the sports car quite an aftermarket program. You might notice that this 997 GT3 is wearing a pretty snazzy livery. Look closer and you’ll realize that Cam Shaft, no stranger to fancy dress-ups, gave the German sports car an individually customized Martini Racing design on top of the Pearly White full-scale foil. The Martini Racing livery is the real head-turner here, complete with all the trimmings, lines and even the iconic Mattes logo on the hood and doors.
Availing of this design will cost you &euro2,400 for the Pearl White finish and &euro900 for the Martini livery. It’s not exactly cheap, but ultimately, it should be worth the investment if you have the finances to do so.
But the Martini Racing dress-up isn’t the only thing that makes this program stand out. Cam Shaft also gave the car’s engine a little tweaking of its own, courtesy of its in-house PP performance engine optimization program. With this &euro1,899 modification, Cam Shaft was able to increase the 997 GT3’s output to 435 horsepower, 20 ponies more than the standard output.
It still falls short of the current 475-horsepower output of the current 991 GT3, but it’s still a nice bump in our opinion.

LOMA is best known for its work on the C6 Corvettes, but recently the German company has decided to turn its sights on Porsche. Because of the company’s location, all of the parts in the kit are made in Germany using carbon fiber, which is something a Porsche owner will prefer.
The 911 GT3 RSR is one of the most awesome Porsches ever built, but it’s not built to handle daily driving nor is it priced for the average Porsche buyer. To help satisfy your urge to own one, LOMA decided to make a kit to allow for you to turn your 997 into an RSR.
The 911 retains the stock engine that produces at least 325 horsepower, but LOMA offers a sports exhaust system to give the car more of a racecar soundtrack. The suspension and brakes also stay the same as the stock car, so the car doesn’t ride any lower than stock unless you decide to lower the car yourself.

LA-based tuner, Misha, is at it again and this time around, a 997-generation Porsche 911 is its canvas. This all-new body kit, dubbed the GTM2, adds even more sportiness and a little more width to the last-generation 911. This kit will fit on any wide- or narrow-body 911 between 2005 and 2011, and it is compatible with both versions of the 997.1 and 997.2 taillights.
The kit includes a new front bumper, a revised hood, a set of side skirts and an all-new rear bumper. Additionally, you get to choose from one of three styles of rear wing, including a sporty-looking duck-tail-style wing. If you need to save a little weight, you can opt for the front bumper lip, the rear diffusor and the wing blade to be made from carbon fiber.
The great thing about this kit is that it bolts directly to the 911’s existing mounting points. This eliminates the need for drilling and potentially ruining the value of your beloved sports car. Additionally, you can buy the entire kit for one bulk price or you can break it up piece-by-piece if money’s a little tight.
In talking to Misha, we found that the entire kit runs $6,795 and if you opt for the carbon-fiber upgrade, it jumps to $8,495. To purchase the components separately, you must contact Misha.
With only 500 units built and a total of 620 HP under the hood, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a car that many auto enthusiasts dream about. This is evident in the fact that, although it is priced at €237,578 (about $310,000 at the current exchange rates), the GT2 RS sold out almost instantly. Lucky for us, Wimmer Racing Technology grabbed on to one of the units and then updated it "a little bit."
Since the 911 GT2 RS is such an impressive car, Wimmer opted to leave the exterior as is and focused on the engine instead. Two optimized Wimmer turbochargers were added, as was an optimization of the air induction, sports camshafts and crankshaft, timing chains, machined cylinder heads, pistons and connecting rods, a fuel pump unit, two manifolds with bypass, and two 200 cell sport catalysts. As a result, the six-cylinder boxer engine now delivers an amazing 1,020 HP and 817 lb-ft of torque. With the extra 400 HP, the GT2 RS will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, to 124 mph in 8.7 seconds, and hit a top speed of 180 mph (however, the top speed indicator shows an amazing 241 mph).
In order to handle the extra power, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS has been equipped with a new set of custom-designed 19" wheels in combination with a 3-way adjustable Competition-suspension from KW.
Who would have ever thought of extracting 1200hp from a 3.8L F6 powered Porsche 911 GT3? Well, now we know that thought has crossed the minds of known German tuners 9ff. Recently, 9ff announced the GTurbo (Goosebumps), a Porsche 911/997 GT3 with 1200hp and 1,150Nm (848 lb-ft) of torque, easily making it one of most powerful Porsches ever built.
Want to know what the stratospheric upgrade can do? It can warp you from 0-60mph in only 3.2sec and flat-out, it can do 250mph. That’s mind-boggling for a Porsche 911 or, as Jeremy Clarkson would call it, a Beetle!
All this unnecessary power comes from a 3.8L flat six that has been up-sized to 3.9L. To increase the oomph, 9ff installed a Garrett GT1200R turbocharger with ball bearings and water-cooling. The operation of the turbocharger can be controlled from the steering wheel, where the driver has the option to select from 0.8 bar, 1.2 bar and 1.6 bar, hence adjusting the power output from 600 horsepower to a maximum 1200 horsepower. Good to know that the monster is, in a way, leashed.
The power is sent to rear wheels via a standard 997 GT3 6-speed manual tranny with reinforced gears, so that it doesn’t snap while transferring the extra power. Handling is improved with the installation of a limited slip differential and an adjustable 9ff / Bilstein suspension system with aluminum shocks, 60mm race springs, rigid aluminum top mounts front, reinforced wishbone suspension, lighter hydraulic power steering, and an adjustable stabilizer for the front and rear axles.
With the race-level spec sheet, you might all classify it as race-legal only. Surprisingly, the GTurbo is a street-legal car with an asking price of $455,000.

If the Porsche 911 Turbo S just isn’t enough car for you, allow us to first congratulate you on being an extreme automotive enthusiast and then introduce you to the 620-horsepower 911 GT2 RS and its $195,000 price tag. If the GT2 RS is still not enough for you, all you have left is to heavily modify its already powerful engine to squeeze a little more muscle from it, or step up to the track-only Porsche GT3 RSR.
Well, with the extreme rarity of the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and its €410,000 ($535,214 at the current exchange rates) price, the opportunity that you can ever get your hands on one is slim to none with the latter being much more likely. However, for the Porsche lovers that still want to have their cake and rub Lamborghini’s nose in it too, Champion Motorsport, based out of Pompano Beach, FL, has the answer for you: the 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S RSR.

The two-tone, baby blue and orange "Gulf Oil" livery is about as iconic a color configuration as any other kind of hue in the auto industry. What’s more, there’s also much to be said when you take into account its significance when used on a Porsche.
German aftermarket company, Oxigin, understands the connection between the two and to pay honor to it, they decided to give a modern-day (actually, it’s the previous generation model) Porsche 911 the iconic Gulf Racing livery.
If retro looks could kill, then you better start calling 911; this Gulf Racing-inspired 911 already has us sprawled on the floor, wishing we could get to sit behind its wheel before we move on from this world. That’s how much we dig this sporty beast.
Heck, it even has some fancy alloy wheels dressed in the same baby blue color of the body’s foil wrap. Oxigin has yet to provide additional information on the project, but judging from the looks alone, we’re already smitten beyond rationale explanation.
On the surface, Switzer performance’s Porsche 997 F900 is the kind of car that petron-heads and environmentalists will both fawn over; it’s a low-emission, 900 horsepower, flex-fuel monster of a Porsche that epitomizes the kind of esteem the Ohio-based tuner has earned in its years in the business.
But the 997 F900 wouldn’t have been built were it not for another Switzer-tuned Porsche that ended up becoming the precursor for the 997 F900. This car was the Switzer Sledgehammer, a 1,000-horsepower, 997 Turbo that made its legend for nine-second passes and standing mile top speeds of close to 200 mph.
Impressive to say the least.
Eventually, the Sledgehammer gave way to a host of other specially-tuned Porsches, culminating in the 997 F900.
This 900-horsepower beast was born from the mind of one of Switzer’s clients from Canada, who, incidentally, already had a Sledgehammer 997 in his hands. Maybe he wanted something different, or maybe he just woke up one day with a renewed sense of responsibility to Mother Nature, but this Canadian client had an idea - or maybe a new fascination - that he wanted Switzer to build.
Thus, the Porsche 997 F900 Turbo was born.

The link between Brumos and Porsche dates back to the 1950s, when it was one of the first Porsche dealers to purchase cars from Porsche of America. In the 1960s, Brumos, under the direction of its new owner, took the company from a dealership to the top of the racing world with its high-performance Porsches.
Brumos went on to become one of the most successful racing teams in road racing history and in Porsche history. In 2011, Brumos had yet another great racing season, taking home the Rolex GRAND-AM GT Championship and adding to its legacy. In commemoration of this victory, Brumos is having five special edition 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racecars manufactured and they will offer them for sale in their dealership in Jacksonville, FL.
This just isn’t any old GT3 Cup car that a racing team can order from Porsche. This one is special in many ways, including a nice bump in power and some special styling specially ordered by Brumos. The big question is whether this is a true performer on the track or if this is nothing more than a pretty trailer queen to haul to car shows.

While we are all waiting for the new generation Porsche GT3, French tuner Delavilla has unveiled a very cool upgrade package based on the current 997 GT3 at the 2012 Top Marques Monaco. While the standard GT3 delivers a total of 435 HP, the French tuner has found a wayn to increase the total output to an impressive 530 HP. The only problem is that we’ll have to pay 126,000 euro (about $166,000 at the current exchange rates) if you want to drive one.
The package includes four vertically superposed exhaust pipes, a reworked chassis with specific dampers, an active suspension, and, of course, a new set of wheels offered in any color desired by the customer. The Porsche 911/997 GT3 on display is painted in a very cool yellow color, but customers can choose between 21 color options. The interior can be dressed in the same color as the exterior with a combination of Alcantara and carbon fiber.
The wonders that tuning programs can do to sports cars never cease to amaze us. This particular one, a current generation Porsche 911 Twin-Turbo Cabriolet, comes courtesy of Wheels Boutique and Vorsteiner.
Taking the German sports car, Vorsteiner’s dealership in Florida built a program that consists of the German tuning firm’s V-RT program. Made mostly out of carbon fiber, Vorsteiner’s V-RT program includes a new front bumper that enhances the body lines of the svelte-looking 911. The front bumper comes with larger carbon air intakes for the radiators while ridding the car of the factory fog lights and the headlight washer bezels. Moving to the rear, the 911 Cabriolet was also fit ted with a new rear bumper that has been designed to provide the sports car with a wider stance. Enlarged side intercooler extraction vents are also part of the program, while a new molded carbon fiber rear diffuser with integrated twin aero fins rounds and a heavily modified rear deck lid and wing round out the aero modifications on the German sports car.
No performance modifications were added, but even if the new 911 Cabriolet has just been unveiled, the current model still packs a meaty punch in the form of a 3.8-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo horizontally-opposed engine mated to a six-speed manual transmissionthat packs 500 horsepower. It possesses a 0-62 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph.
Sportec’s involvement at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show involves the introduction of a couple of Porsche programs, one of which is for the limited edition 911 (997) GT3 RS 4.0.
We all know that Porsche is only making 600 of these bad boys so if any of the owners have dreams of having a program done on their baby, then Sportec has all your needs spoken for.
The program, which is called the ’SP 525’, comes with aerodynamic components such as a new carbon fiber bonnet that cuts down on the car’s overall weight. In addition, Sportec also added windscreen viewing bars, an Sportec optical package, an optional video box, and a new set of 20" large Mono/7 wheels with central locking, wrapped in Michelin PS2 Cup tires.
Performance enhancements are also part of the SP 525 program. For this particular project, Sportec installed sports catalytic converters and an Akrapovic exhaust system, as well as reprogrammed the 911 GT3 RS 4.0’s ECU unit. The result is an increase in output for the sports car’s 4.0-liter engine from 500 horsepower and 339 lb/ft of torque to 525 horsepower and 354 lb/ft of torque. The increased output results in a faster 0-62 mph time of 3.8 seconds - an improvement from 3.9 seconds - with a top speed of 195 mph.

In the wide world of automotive tuning, there’s something to be said for UK tuner Merdad and its penchant for producing new body kits for a number of Porsche vehicles, the most recent of which was a program for the Porsche Cayenne. Now the tuning firm is at it again with a new program for the Porsche 997 Turbo S. Called the 997 650-R SS, the modification program comes with a full Merdad Body styling kit that includes a new bonnet, a new front spoiler, front skirt with air intakes, new side skirts with twin air intakes, wider wheel arches, a new rear bumper, and a set of new 20" alloy forged lightweight wheels that was created exclusively for Merdad.
Merdad-exclusive items have also been added to the 997, including a new super sound exhaust, carbon fiber 2-door guards, and a complete set of Merdad logos and badges.
Performance modifications haven’t been announced yet. That being said, we’d love to see what they have done with the Porsche 911 Turbo’s supercharged flat six boxer engine because, well, we’d expect them to get a lot more than the standard 530hp and 516 lb/ft of torque. If the title says anything about the output - which we hope it does - maybe we are looking at 650hp Turbo?
The whole list of modifications will £19,995, which is around $31,500 based on current exchange rates.

This is Mayhem. Mayhem is a bright, flat-red Porsche 997 that has been tuned to high-heavens by Evolution Motorsports. The Arizona-based tuning company has cultivated a reputation as one of the premiere American tuners of German cars with Mayhem being the latest one of ’em.
So how exactly did this particular 997 earn the nickname ’Mayhem’? Apart from the carbon fiber accents, this Porsche doesn’t look like it got so much of an aerodynamic and performance upgrade treatment from the people over at Evolution Motorsports. That is, until you look for the ’EVT 1500’ stickers found on the bottom of the doors. What looks to be a standard Porsche 997 is anything but.
That ’1,500’ figure is actually the amount of output this car is capable of. That’s right, folks. This particular 997 has an ungodly total of 1,500 ponies under its hood. To achieve that number, Evolution Motorsports took the stock 997’s 3.6-liter engine and modified it to obtain an extra .4 liters of displacement, turning it into a 4.0-liter twin-turbo H6.
As a result of of the modifications, ’Mayhem’ turned out to be one of the stars at the recently-concluded Texas Mile in March 2011. At the event, Mayhem, with all of its 1,500 horsepower ready to pounce, ran a face-splitting 234.6 mph. Welcome to the big leagues, Mayhem.

Porsche is currently working its automotive fingers to the bone designing the future generation 911, but it seems as if they mustered just enough strength and time to bring out a special edition model to pacify the crowd until we all get to see the new 911 on the market. This new special edition is based on both the coupe and cabrio versions of the 911 Carrera and will be limited to only 1,911 units. The U.S. will see prices ranging from $81,300 to $85,320 for the Coupe and $91,300 to $95,320 for the Cabriolet. Sales will begin in April 2011.
As its name suggests, the Carrera Black Edition comes painted in black, plain as standard or basalt black metallic as an option. This blackout continues for the convertible’s top and for the interiors of both versions. This special edition is based on a standard Carrera, with 345 HP under the bonnet and will be offered with the same technical special equipment options that are offered on the Carrera models.

D2Forged Wheels is an American wheel tuning shop that’s considered as one of the best in the industry. Recently, the boys at D2Forged presented their latest creation for the Porsche 997 Turbo, aptly called “The White Darkness”.
These guys are no strangers to outfitting cars with the best rims in the game, as evidenced by their previous work on an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. So it only seems right that their latest piece of work would come in the name of Porsche – a 997 Turbo, to be exact.
On it’s own, a Porsche 997 Turbo is already a car that packs a very mean wallop with a 3.8-liter flat-six engine that produces 500 horsepower. You add that powertrain and the iconic 997 aesthetic design with D2Forged’s set of special MB1 Titanium Graphite 20” wheels they affectionately call “The White Darkness” and you have the makings of a stunning sports car that only adds to the American wheel tuning company’s already impressive line-up of state-of-the-art rims.
With all the tuning programs being done on the Porsche 997 TT, it’s easy to get lost in the mix because of all the strong competition, all of which are hell bent on being called the best aftermarket Porsche tuner in the world.
Then you have By Design Motorsport, a company that sees the benefits of all these programs and has decided to incorporate a lot of them in their own tuned-up Porsche 997 TT. The result is the Porsche 997 TT Porschat Edition, which comes with parts from renowned aftermarket companies including Misha, ADV.1 Wheels, RUF, and H&R Springs.
It really is a good way to take advantage of the strengths and specialties of each of these companies and combine them to make one unique package that’s all its own. The result is a finished product that looks about as awesome as any tuned up 997 TT we’ve seen in a while.

If you own a Porsche 996, but you’re dreaming for a 997, Prior Design is offering up the very solution to your dilemma: the Metamorphosis package that will make your 996 look like a 997.
The aesthetic package includes a new front bumper with large air intake vents, a discreet spoiler lip, a completely new PD3 bumper which houses an integrated sports exhaust system exclusive to Prior Design, and a curved set of side skirts that make the silhouette appear lowered from the side.
Once Prior Design finished up their alterations on the exterior of the Porsche, they moved on to the chassis. The chassis of the Porsche can be lowered by 30mm which, in turn, lowers the center of gravity. This chassis lowering system is exclusive to Prior Design and improves the handling characteristics of the 911. As the finishing touch to the sports car, Prior Design also fitted segmented wheels of the Prior Design forge and, according to customer specifications, classy rims that can be manufactured in any size.
We can say we are surprised that the engine for this Stuttgart Stud has been completely ignored, but engine modification is not something we have come to expect from Prior Design. They didn’t boost the power of the Porsche 911 GT3 when they played up with its characteristics with their PD3 package either. They also didn’t increase power for the Mercedes E-Class, Ford Mustang, or Audi R8 that they’ve tuned up so far this year. We do love a good power boost, but if we were to pick a car that didn’t need the extra attention in that department, one of our picks would be the Porsche.

Based on the Porsche 997 Carrera, the Gembala GTR650 Avalanche made quite a buzz when it was launched, back in 2006. With 650 hp the car was capable to hit 200 km/h in just 11.2 seconds while the top speed was limited to 335 km/h. The vehicle’s engine delivered an impressive 820 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. We say impressive due to the fact that a standard Porsche 997 Carrera delivered half of the torque, „only” 400 Nm at 4800 rpm.
Gemballa unveiled an Evo version of the GTR650 which involves a new aero package, featuring a GT Evo front bonnet, an Avalanche front skirt, GT2 Evo Carbon front lip, GTR Evo rear skirt and a GTR Evo Carbon rear spoiler. More informations when the official information will be unveiled!
