2020 Porsche Taycan by Hennessey
Hennessey is famous far and wide for its fully loaded tuning programs for some of the finest performance cars in the world. That’s a reputation the tuning company has earned after 30 years of delivering goods packed with jacked and juiced V-8 engines that oftentimes defy our imaginations. But just as Hennessey’s reputation for these programs is iron-clad, the tuner isn’t afraid to test the waters in other areas of the aftermarket world. Well, it’s doing just that after announcing plans to create an aftermarket program for an electric car. Mind you, this isn’t your typical electric car project, either. Hennessey isn’t creating a program for the Nissan Leaf. Instead, the tuner is setting its sights on the Porsche Taycan. As far as ambitious projects go, this one’s right up there for Hennessey, though if there’s one tuner that can pull it off, my money’s on John Hennessey and his boys. Prepare to enter a new world of EV tuning, folks. This is going to be good.
1989 Porsche 911 Wide Track Phantom Speedster by DP Motorsport
The Porsche 911 is a lot like wine. The older it is, the more desirable it becomes. That appeal has stretched bounds that we previously thought didn’t exist. No more is that clear than in the aftermarket tuning world, for example. There once was a time when the mere thought of modifying an original Porsche 911 was tantamount to automotive treason. But now? It’s not only become a big business, but it’s also evolved into a what-you-can-do-I-can-do-better competition among aftermarket companies. Take this 1989 Porsche 911 Targa 3.2, for example. Traditional convention suggests that this classic 911 Targa should be kept in stock condition, preserved in its OG state for all eternity. German tuner DP Motorsports had other plans. It’s not the Porsche 911 Targa 3.2 anymore. It’s the Porsche Phantom Speedster, and guess what, it looks spectacular.
2019 Porsche 911 Turbo S GTstreet RS by TechArt
TechArt is one of Germany’s top Porsche tuners, and it plans to reconfirm this status by unveiling at the 89th Geneva Auto Show the latest and most insane version of its well-known GTstreet R model, this time based on the Porsche 911 (991) Turbo S and dubbed the RS. In short, it’s an angry green hornet with 760 horsepower on tap, a 0 to 62 mph time of 2.5 seconds, and a top speed limited to 211 mph because that’s as much as the tires can take.
Porsche is one of the of the most popular sports car manufacturers the world over. As such, there are tons of companies that cater to people who want to make their Porsche just a little bit faster and a little bit more special. Then there are firms, like Ruf or TechArt, that are recognized as independent manufacturers and whose creations stretch far beyond the might of the models used as the foundation for their projects.
TechArt’s GTstreet R kit for the Porsche 991-generation of the Porsche 911 has been around for a few years. We reviewed it a couple of years ago when it was fresh out of TechArt’s laboratory and came to the conclusion that "it has some strong competition from Gemballa, but it still possesses an enviable combination made up of an outstanding aero kit, a dressed-up interior, and powerful engine upgrades." Prepare, then, for something even better and much rarer as only ten will be made!

1997 RUF Porsche CTR2
RUF builds some of the fastest modified Porsches in the world, cars altered so much that they are barely Porsches when the process reaches the end and the car is ready for delivery. Such a car is the CTR2, the replacement of the Yellowbird, a 993-based monster that could reach 215 mph in 1995, beating anything but the McLaren F1.
If you’re asked to name a few really fast cars of the ’90s images of the Lamborghini Diablo, the Bugatti EB110, or the Jaguar XJ220 would probably spring in your mind. Well, how many of you would think of a modified Porsche that could beat anything that Zuffenhausen had to offer, even the ludicrous race-bred 911 GT1? Yes, it’s the product of a tuner, but the cars built by Alois Ruf Jr., and his men have always been impeccably well-built. They also have an enviable record of humiliating established supercars over the years. The CTR2 is the bridge between the pure Nurburgring-slashing CTR and the mid-engined CTR3 that takes the ideas of the Carrera GT to another level.
2018 Porsche 911 Le Mans Classic Clubsport by Paul Stephens
Porsche specialist Paul Stephens recently unveiled his latest creation called the Le Mans Classic Clubsport. It is a bespoke Porsche 911 based around the Porsche 911 G-series chassis and remodeled to take the shape of possibly the most astonishing restomod you can imagine.
I know that right now the Singer name from Rob Dickinson rings in your ears, but this is a slightly different piece of engineering compared with anything coming from Dickinson kitchen. Now, I was particularly curious to find out what actually makes this Le Mans Classic Clubsport so special, so I reached out to Paul Stephens who told me a thing or two about his newest car.
First of all, let me tell you that Paul is a proper car guy. Not only that, he is a proper Porsche enthusiast. All the way back from 9 years of age. I am not joking. His first miles were in a Land Rover he drove when he was 6. Three years later, he sat in a 911. A friend of his dad lent him the keys, and he just went for it. Love in an instant!
That was the start of a long love story that got him into race cars, into Porsches and now into making exceptional restomods based around the Porsche G-series chassis.

In the good tradition of the German tuning scene, German tuner Manhart reached out to all four astounding Germanic manufacturers whose cars it is modifying. I am writing here about the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche. The last car Manhart put its magical touches on is a Porsche 911 Turbo. As Manhart usually focuses on tuning Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, the company revealing this Porsche project is quite surprising. Nevertheless, Manhart made it worthwhile. The new car is simply astounding.

We’ve seen the German tuner introduce different versions of its GrandGT tuning kit in the past eight years. At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, TechArt is keeping the tradition alive with its latest and punchiest Panamera program to date. The kit is called the GrandGT Supreme, and as its name suggests, the program is a more sophisticated version of the standard GrandGT, one that features a more aggressive body kit, a more opulent interior, and enough power to justify its cutting-edge looks.
2017 Porsche 911 By Singer Vehicle Design
Founded in 2009 by British musician Rob Dickinson, Singer Vehicle Design is a California-based customization and restoration shop that specializes in 964-era Porsche 911s. In the past, we’ve seen loads of lust-worthy cars from Singer, but this latest example bests them all. Commissioned by client Scott Blattner, the goal was a lightweight, high-performance revamp of Blattner’s 1990 911, but the end product goes above and beyond in just about every single way. For starters, Singer sourced input with some of the biggest names in Porsche performance, including motorsport engineer Norbert Singer, engine specialist Hans Mezger, and racing driver Marino Franchitti, not to mention automotive journalist and Top Gear host Chris Harris. Big-name companies like Michelin, Brembo, and BBS Motorsport also got in on the mix, while Williams Advanced Engineering (yep, the F1 folks) played a major role in the vehicle’s technical development. The project took two years to complete, but the results are staggering. Dubbed the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study, or DLS, every part of the 911 was tweaked, and Singer is so happy with it, the tuner is now offering special DLS services to select customers.
Blattner explains – “The question became… what if Singer worked on restoring and modifying my beloved 27-year old Porsche 964, with the assistance of an engineering concern born from the world of F1. How would such a car look and how would it perform?” Read on to find out.

2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S Blue Arrow by Edo Competition
Just in case it isn’t abundantly clear by now, the Porsche 911 Turbo S is a legend. It’s regarded as one of the most iconic models in history, as it has been ever since it was launched in the market 54 years ago. The sports car’s appeal is unlikely to lose its luster anytime soon, and it’s that particular timeless quality about it that has made the 911 such a popular model in the aftermarket tuning circle. The current-generation 911 has seen its fair share of programs from tuning heavyweights like TechArt, TopCar, and Gemballa. Now it’s edo competition’s turn to get in on the action and the German tuner didn’t disappoint with a 675-horsepower creation called the 911 Turbo S Blue Arrow.
It’s a fancy name for a fancy tuning program for a fancy sports car. It also happens to be potent beyond words, not to mention capable of achieving incredible amounts of speed and power that fits into the performance legacy of the Porsche 911. It’s fitting, too, that this program comes from edo competition, the same tuner that’s responsible for some of the most impressive tuning creations in history. Remember what it did to the Ferrari Enzo all those years ago? I don’t expect this creation for the 911 Turbo S to match that in power and performance, but I do know that it doesn’t need to. The Porsche 911 Turbo S is its own unicorn, and edo competition did it a solid by sprinkling its pixie dust all over it.

2018 Porsche Panamera Stingray GTR by TopCar
It’s been a while since we last saw a prominent aftermarket company develop a program for the Porsche Panamera. In fact, ever since the Porsche unveiled the second-generation Panamera this time last year, the tuning world has been surprisingly quiet on this front. Well, consider this one of the first tastes of a heavily modified, second-generation Porsche Panamera. And to the shock of no one, it comes from TopCar, one of the most prominent Porsche tuners in the business.
The Russian tuner has worked on Porsche models longer than most tuners have been around. It’s responsible for the Stinger program for the 911, the Vantage program for the Cayenne, and a host of other works for other Porsche models, including the Macan, the Boxster, and the Cayman. Now, TopCar is setting its sights on a next-generation program for the next-generation Panamera. The kit is what you’d expect from TopCar. It’s got extensive aerodynamics that borders on over-the-top. It’s got a lavish interior offering that includes all the premium materials a customer can think of, including 24-karat gold. And it’s got a significant engine upgrade. In other words, it’s a TopCar tuning kit for the Panamera that owners of the luxury saloon will have a hard time saying no to, provided that TopCar’s tuning methods are in sync with what they’re looking for.

2017 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S Magnum Sport "Edition 30 Years" by TechArt
Regardless of what you may think of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, there’s no denying the SUV has made a significant impact in the auto industry. But now that the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid is set to replace the Cayenne Turbo S as the flagship model of the SUV line, there’s no better way to give the gas-powered SUV the perfect swan song by putting it in the hands of TechArt, the German tuner of all things Porsche. Serendipitously, TechArt’s latest program for the Cayenne Turbo S comes at a time when the tuner is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Put these two events together and you’re presented with the “Edition 30 Years” special edition version of TechArt’s Magnum Sport program for the Cayenne. Among the many new features is 720 horsepower and 678 pound-feet of torque.
Consider that insane torque number for a second. Not only does TechArt’s program add 88 pound-feet of twist to the Cayenne, but the resulting output also puts it head and shoulders above the 627 pound-feet of torque capabilities of the Porsche Cayenne Diesel, which just set a Guinness world record by successfully pulling a 314-ton Airbus A380. Imagine then what the Edition 30 Years version of TechArt’s Magnum program is capable of when afforded the same opportunity.

2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S GTStreet R by TechArt
The business of tuning Porsche sports cars is a big one. It can also be an expensive one depending on where you go. Still, Porsche owners, particularly those who have the 911, have shown little hesitation in giving their sports cars these programs, partly because of the need to unlock the car’s full potential and partly because, well, they can. One tuner that has proven its worth in this regard is TechArt, the same German aftermarket company that recently gave us this beauty of a tuning kit for the Porsche 718 Cayman. Seems fitting then that with that upgrade comes another one for the 911, and it’s one that most of us are all too familiar with. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the new Porsche 911 Turbo S GTStreet R by TechArt.
The GTStreet program goes back a long way with some of the earliest iterations developed for previous-generation 911 models. This new one, though, is for the incumbent model, the same 911 Turbo S that tuning rival Gemballa used to develop its own new version of the Avalanche program. In a lot of ways, there are some shared similarities between what Gemballa’s Avalanche program is offering to that of TechArt’s GTStreet R kit. There’s the obvious power enhancement, which in the case of the latter, can go up to as much as 720 horsepower. There’s the unmistakable aerodynamic kit, which, as you can see in the photos, is as audacious as it is mesmerizing.
Best of all, there’s the unmistakable attention-to-detail that only a tuner like TechArt can provide. The company, after all, made its bones developing aftermarket kits for Porsche models and this new GTStreet R program is just the latest example of that peerless drive to be the best in its market.

2017 Porsche 911 Avalanche By Gemballa
It’s been a while since we last heard from Gemballa, but like most tuners who’ve been around for as long as Gemballa has, these prolonged times out of the spotlight often lead to something worth waiting for. And so, the German tuner took its time to release its new program, but now here it is, the latest iteration of the Avalanche program that Gemballa has been building since 1985 for the Porsche 911. Gemballa’s extended experience with the 911 has yielded impressive results in the past, so it’s not at all surprising to see the latest member of that lineage come with plenty of aftermarket features, including power gains for the current-generation 911 amounting to an impressive 820 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. And that’s just the start of it because, well, it’s Gemballa.
True, the company has had some issues in the past, but none of those controversies has stopped it from being one of the best Porsche tuners in the business. That’s been the case then, and it continues to be the case with this new Avalanche program. You only need to take a look at the finished product to see how sophisticated this new program is. It has a rear wing and a rear spoiler, the exhausts look like jet turbines, and there’s even a GT-style fin at the back. How often do you see a Porsche 911 carrying a fin that big?
There’s obviously more this new Avalanche program than meets the eye. Most of the components on the exterior are more than just cosmetic upgrades. Even the interior has been dramatically altered, albeit for reasons that I’m going to expound on later. And let’s not forget about those massive 21-inch gold wheels. They’re a little tricky to pair on a car given their ostentatious look, but Gemballa makes it work, largely because of the aggressive aerodynamic bits that help jolt some intensity into the iconic Porsche nameplate.
In keeping with the tradition of its past programs, Gemballa’s new Avalanche kit for the Porsche 911 isn’t for the weak of bank accounts. But if anybody decides to make this rather extravagant splurge, it’s coming with a reworked Porsche 911 that borders on automotive insanity.

2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S Convertible By Wimmer
On the surface, Wimmer’s program for the Porsche 911 Turbo S Convertible oozes with flamboyancy, largely from the bombastic orange paint finish of the sports car and the litter of graphics and liveries attributed to the German tuner and its partners. It’s not a very pleasing sight if it were any other car. But it’s a 911 Turbo S Convertible, a car that in itself is filled to the brim with flash and attitude. It’s still largely an acquired taste, but it still grabs your attention, for better or worse. And so, like it or not, this is Wimmer’s new program for the 911 Turbo S Convertible. Good thing then that it also has a massive engine upgrade in there to the tune of 828 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque.
The power increase is massive and I think we can all agree that the 911 Turbo S Convertible is capable of squeezing as much out of it as it possibly can. The performance numbers validate it too because this tuned 911 is ridiculously fast, possibly even faster and more powerful than a limited edition supercar like the Ferrari F12tdf. The paint job and stickers might not be to everyone’s taste, but there’s no denying that Wimmer has a program here that will make owners of the drop-top 911 Turbo S stand up and take notice, at least until they hear about how much it’s going to cost.
Ultimately, this is the biggest sticking point for a lot of customers who are interested in getting aftermarket upgrades for their cars. Wimmer’s asking price is no different since it’s charging a whopping €310,000 ($327,300) to present would-be customers a Porsche 911 Turbo S Convertible that’s unlike any other.

2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S Stinger GT3 Gen.2 By Top Car
Subtlety has never been one of TopCar’s most enduring characteristics and over the years that it’s been active, the Russian tuner has never once apologized for it. Not that it needs to because we all need a little dose of mental from time to time. This brings us of course to TopCar’s latest piece of work, a new tuning program for the range-topping Porsche 911 Turbo S called the Stinger GTR Gen.2. Oh, and it packs a scintillating 750 horsepower – 170 ponies more than the sports car’s standard output of 580 horses.
The power surge is the obvious highlight of the kit, but it’s not the only one that’s worth the hard-earned money of 911 Turbo S owners. The Russian tuner also added a bespoke body kit that essentially transforms the Turbo S into something that looks more like the 911 GT3 RS. That was TopCar’s objective from the onset and from how those glam shots of the sports car look, it appears that the tuner really had to do some serious work on getting the look it desired.
The 911 Turbo S Stinger GTR Gen.2 just made its debut at the 2016 Moscow International Motor Show and by TopCar’s own admission, it’s one of the most “complicated projects” it has ever built. It’s hard to argue against that claim given the complex and sophisticated finished product that we’re all looking at.
Is it the best tuning program available for the 911 Turbo S? That’s still debatable. But at the very least, it’s certainly one of the most eye-catching we’ve seen in a long time.

2016 Porsche Macan Turbo By Wimmer RS
The Porsche Macan’s introduction in 2013 signalled a renewed commitment from the German automaker to double down on its SUV offerings after the incredible success generated by the Cayenne. A few years later and the Macan has already established a presence of its own, one that has gotten the attention of aftermarket tuners all over the world. One aftermarket specialist that has definitely taken a liking to the Macan Turbo is Wimmer Rennsporttechik, which is now offering a tuning program for the Porsche crossover in partnership with fellow tuner Schmidt Revolution. The result is a two-prong kit defined by a new set of wheels and an engine upgrade that nets an output of 434 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.
In truth, the this program is a simple and subtle one. There are no exterior or interior upgrades. It doesn’t even have any modifications on the chassis and suspension. It’s a straightforward engine-and-wheel upgrade that isn’t going to suspend anybody’s disbelief. But for what it’s worth, Wimmer worked on giving the Macan Turbo an added shot of power, which is what the aftermarket tuning scene is largely about anyway. And together with Schmidt Revolution’s new set of wheels, prospective customers will get some benefits out of this upgrade, provided they don’t expect anything outlandish to come out of it.
If those are the expectations, then prepare to be disappointed. But if it’s an extra layer of refinement that’s needed, Wimmer’s program for the Porsche Macan Turbo fits that bill to a tee.

1987 Porsche 959 Gen III by Canepa
The Porsche 911 may be considered as the quintessential Porsche model, but others like the 959 also deserve the “all time” status that they’ve been given. In the case of the 959, it featured some of the most advanced technologies available in the world at that time, and when Porsche was done building it, the model became the fastest street-legal car in the world. Only 292 units of the Porsche 959 were built and one of them belongs to Bruce Canepa, the owner of the noted car restoration company Canepa. Since the company prides itself on being a world-class restoration service company, it took up the task of customizing its owner’s 959. The result is a supercar that packs an incredible 763 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque.
Those numbers may look normal by today’s standards, but remember, this was done on a car that’s on the cusp of being 20 years old. This was done on a car that took on the Lamborghini Countach and the Ferrari Testarossa during its time and has etched its own legacy in the annals of Porsche lore. In other words, it’s every bit as impressive a restoration/tuning job as anything the company has done. The fact that the car is actually owned by the owner of the company further adds to its one-off aura.
Don’t be fooled by the lack of exterior upgrades that would’ve modernised the car. Canepa barely touched the exterior except for replacing the wheels. Everything else though was given the full cosmetic and mechnical peek and subsequent work.
It certainly goes without saying that unless another 959 owner actively seeks Canepa and asks for the same program, this particular 959 that’s owned by Bruce Canepa will remain a complete one-of-a-kind. It’s a fitting title for a car that at one point in its life was considered the fastest in the world.

2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S by TechArt
The Porsche 911 Turbo S needs no introduction so let’s skip the pleasantries and jump ahead to something owners will find mighty interesting. There’s a new program out for both the 911 Turbo S and the 911 Carrera 4S. It’s made by TechArt, which is famous for being one of the most
focused aftermarket companies in the business. Not one to diminish its own reputation, TechArt’s new engine upgrade package for the 911 Turbo S comes with a power increase that takes the output of the sports car’s 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six engine from the standard 540 horsepower and 533 pound-feet of torque to 640 horses and 649 pound-feet of twist.
As I mentioned, there’s also a separate program for all variants of the 911 Carrera S and 4S. Sure, these engine upgrades don’t reach the levels of the 911 Turbo’s output increase, but TechArt still managed to get 480 ponies and 428 pound-feet of torque out of them. That’s a nice bump up from the 420-horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque output of the standard Carrera. Other than the engine upgrades, the kit also includes plenty of aerodynamic parts for both 911 variants and a tailor-made interior that offers detailed elements of style and craftsmanship.
The tuner is also offering suspension improvements and a new set of wheels, finishing off what can only be described as one of the most comprehensive aftermarket programs for two of the current-generation Porsche 911’s most high strung models.

2016 Porsche 911 Carrera S by McChip
The current Porsche 911 received its first official facelift in 2015 when the 991.2 was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 991.2 received a handful of updates, the most notable of which was Porsche’s decision to drop the naturally aspirated engines in favor of a turbocharged version that came with modified compressor wheels, a specific exhaust system, and a revised engine management system. Needless to say, the updated 911 immediately became the apple of the eye of aftermarket companies.
One tuner that has taken a particular interest in the updated 911 Carrera S is McChip, the same tuning company that has developed programs for BMW, Audi, and Porsche sports cars. The obvious popularity of the new 911 made it a no-brainer for McChip to develop this kit, which puts on enough power to compete against similarly tuned versions of the BMW M4.
Granted, it’s not the most powerful upgrade in the market for the 911 Carrera S, but it still packs enough punch to be taken seriously. Plus, it’s cheap as heck, and ultimately, that’s the kind of thing that can trump whatever perceived misgivings customers may have for the program.

2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Carbon By TechArt
Noted Porsche tuner TechArt isn’t the type to mess around with its tuning programs. Past works for the 911 Turbo, 911 4S Cabriolet, and Cayenne have given us indications of the tuner’s no-nonsense approach towards its kits. Sure, TechArt usually doesn’t cover the full breadth of a traditional upgrade or conversion, but when it does offer a kit for any one of the Porsche models in existence today, it does so with the full understanding that it has a lot of things that Porsche owners need to make their cars better.
That same philosophy is evident with the tuner’s newest program. It’s for the 911 GT3 RS and it arrives with the singular focus of turning the range-topping, road-legal racer into something far more dramatic. It may not have any engine modifications (spoiler alert!), but TechArt made sure that the aerodynamic upgrades attached to the Carbon Sport program are still worth the price of admission.
Given how radical the 911 GT3 RS already is, you could excuse TechArt for taking this approach. After all, there is something about the GT3 RS that already makes it the special 911 that it is. For some people, adding too much to it could compromise the very character Porsche intended it to have in the first place.
