The Gas-Powered Macan Won’t Survive Beyond Its 10th Birthday
We’ve come a long way from the original idea that the 2021 Porsche Macan would only be offered with an all-electric powertrain. That was the story in 2019, which quickly turned into word that the next-gen Macan would be all-electric but would be sold alongside the current Macan– something we called “Porsche’s dual-Macan strategy.” Now, it seems there’s even more to the story, and you might not like what you’re about to read.

The 2022 Taycan Has Been Improved In Ways That You Can’t Imagine
Updating cars on a year-to-year basis is becoming a new trend, and the Taycan is the latest model to jump on that bandwagon. For 2022, Porsche has improved the Taycan dramatically, with all updates geared toward making day-to-day use easier. It all starts with Normal and Range modes. When these modes are engaged, the front motor is almost completely decoupled and de-energized. And an new computer algorithm allows both motors to disengage when the car is coasting or at a standstill, something that also helps increase usable range.
Beyond this, Porsche has updated the Taycan’s thermal management system with the goal of optimizing the drivetrain. The battery can now be heated to a slightly higher temperature, which allows for fast charting earlier and at a higher charge level – something that reduces the amount of time required to charge. Even better, the excess heat from electrical components is now used to a greater extent to regulate the battery’s temperature.
Alongside these new upgrades, Porsche is now offering the Taycan with Remote Park Assist that will allow you to park it with your smartphone and Android Auto has finally been integrated into the sixth-generation PCM infotainment system. The Taycan can also be ordered through the paint-to-sample and paint-to-sample plus programs, the first one of which includes up to 65 available colors, like the cool red you see here.

The project is actually done by a digital designer that goes by the name “Shashank Das”. In fact, not long ago, we featured another creation of his – an orange widebody Mazda RX-7, quite similar to what we see here, in terms of modifications.
2022 Porsche Macan

There have been rumors for a while now about Porsche working on a new performance-oriented variant of its Cayenne Coupé. The Audi A4 E-Tron Could Strengthen Porsche’s Lineup Too!
It was in the month of May 2021 that news broke of Audi’s intentions to sell and electric A4 along what will undoubtedly be the last ICE-powered generation of the a4\s4 lineup. We quickly jumped on the idea that the RS4 E-Tron, as we’re calling it, could eventually become the A4 E-tron Wagon. What we never stopped to think of, though, is that the A4 E-Tron could be a bigger deal than we expected, and a Porsche badge could be involved….

That’s why we’ve seen cars like the Porsche Taycan by Techart or the Porsche Taycan Turbo S by Prior Design. In fact, there are quite a few tuners out there beefing up the Taycan’s chops and even working to extract more power from its electric powertrain, but what if you want just a little extra aerodynamic dominance? The Porsche Macan EV Might Not Be A Macan At All
Things escalated quickly between 2019 and 2020 over at Porsche, with the former bring news that the 2021 Porsche Macan will only be offered with an all-electric drivetrain. Of course, 2021 is here, and guess what? The electric Macan doesn’t even exist outside of Porsche’s walls. That’s because in early 2020, we learned that Porsche was thinking about a “double Macan” strategy in which it will update the current-gen Macan to sell alongside the next-gen electric Macan. It’s good news for those that don’t want to make the transition to electric go juice, but it also means the next-gen Macan had to be delayed. Now we’ve learned something new, and it seems that the Macan EV might not be a Macan at all. Wait… what?
7 Unlikely Cars With Porsche DNA That You Didn’t Know About
The automotive industry is a dynamic one and collaborations between different car manufacturers are not that uncommon. Porsche is a name associated with great craftsmanship, great engineering, and tradition - all traits the 911 encompasses better than any other car. However, Porsche was not always doing well financially and, in the 1990s, they were willing to lend their expertise to other companies. Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo - What You Need to Know
2021 Porsche Taycan by Techart
Techart has been around since 1987 and quickly established itself as one of the go-to Porsche tuners. They had a particularly glamorous record between 2005 and 2012, giving us multiple visually-enhanced Porsche models, almost every year, throughout that period. Although their last project involved a mildly altered 991-generation 911, they came back full-force for this one. The new Taycan features many new elements, courtesy of the German tuner, and although it’s not over-the-top like something you’d expect from Mansory, it still is a significant upgrade over the already aggressive-looking super EV.
Porsche’s Huge $83 Million Investment In Rimac Could Make For An Interesting Future
Porsche has raised its ownership stake in Rimac, going from owning a minority share of 15.5 percent to 24 percent. The deal cost Porsche €70 million, or around $83.2 million based on current exchange rates. This is the third time the German automaker has invested in its Croatian company. Back in 2018, Porsche secured a 10 percent minority stake in Rimac before that share grew to 15.5 percent in 2019. Other automakers have also bought into Rimac, specifically Hyundai and Kia. The two Korean brands invested €80 million, or around $95.1 million, as part of a technical partnership that would give birth to a pair of high-performance electric vehicles.
Porsche Could Build a Taycan Coupe, Convertible, and Sport Turismo
Porsche’s plans to build up the Taycan family could soon include a two-door, a convertible, and a low-slung version of the Cross Turismo. No timetable has been set on when these models will arrive or whether they’re going to be green-lighted in the first place. Porsche has made clear its plans to have an 80 percent electric lineup by 2030.

Drifting in a RWD Porsche Taycan? We’re Not So Sure
Ever since EVs have started popping up like mushrooms, a lot of car enthusiasts have deemed them unholy, soulless, and boring to drive. However, there’s another side to it, as demonstrated in this video from the channel Seen Through Glass. The channel is actually quite fun, since it showcases expensive cars and supercars in a more entertaining way, sometimes even using them not how they were intended. This gives us a chance to get answers to questions we never thought we’d be asking. For example, can an all-electric Porsche Taycan drift?
